On a recent vacation I splurged, booking taxi service between airports and places of lodging instead of my usual "use public transportation"-ethos. Welcome Pickups came onto my radar when airbnb, seeing I had an upcoming reservation for a Paris lodging, offered Welcome Pickups as a means of transportation to that lodging. It worked out so smoothly that I went ahead and booked through them again when I needed to return to CDG Airport. On both ends of the journey my driver was easy to locate, arrived on-schedule, helped with baggage, and provided a most comfortable trip to and from the airport in a clean car being safely driven. One direction ran €52, the other €54. The convenience? Priceless. I notice some unfavorable reviews of Welcome Pickups here on yelp, but not for their services in Paris. In Paris, my experience is that this company operates professionally and responsibly. I'd happily use their services again, when next in Paris. read more

Welcome Pickups was nothing less than a purely stressfree experience. We were recently introduced to this online international ride share service through a travel agent, and were 100% satisfied. The Uber service in London and Paris were lacking with long wait times and plenty of cancellations. The taxis were available in most cities although very expensive. During the second half of our European adventure we began using the Welcome Pickups service to provide transfers from our hotel to airport and vice versa. The transfers went seamless in Amsterdam, Barcelona, Ireland and Scotland. Each driver notified me through WhatsApp twenty-four hours prior to the pre-determined pickup location and included a photo of the vehicle, name and phone number of the driver. In addition, the driver monitored my flight progress taking into consideration of delays to prepare adjustments for pickup or drop off times. The drivers notified me upon arrival, which was always fifteen minutes early at the hotel curb or waiting in the immediate area. They introduced themselves and assisted placing all bags into their vehicle. During the comfy rides, each driver was chatty providing a brief historic education of the area. What a difference with Uber or Lyft drivers (if they actually show up) who merely get you from point A to point B with zero verbal interaction. The transfer service was approximately $50.00 per use. Tipping of course is always optional, especially in Europe, but we gave 5€ every ride. Since I never heard if this transfer service I was hesitant and a non believer thinking it would be the same as other ride share companies in the States - I admit that I was wrong. I highly recommend Welcome Pickups for long or time sensitive rides throughout Europe and will definitely use them again and promote it's A+ service to friends and family. read more

You guys sent a scammer who wanted me to pay him extra in cash because the baby stroller was not mentioned in the booking. The luggage all comfortably fit in the van but he insisted on getting paid extra in cash. Upon my refusal, he verbally abused and threatened me withholding my luggage until I called the police. The driver in Edinburgh did not await us and when we mentioned that drivers are always at the gate, he decided he wouldn't take us anymore. Booked a ride from the Naples airport to our hotel and then canceled within a few minutes when we saw that the wait for the driver was over a half an hour and that there were taxis readily available. I canceled both online and then I called and spoke directly with the driver and told him we would not need the ride. He said that was fine, no problem. About 25 minutes later I received several emails from the company saying that my driver was waiting for us at the airport and then that he left the airport when we "failed to show up" and that they were charging us $75. I am now going to have to dispute the charge. What a hassle. I'm leaving a review here because I left a negative review on Google and they had it removed. They can't do that on Yelp. NO COMPANY VALUES WHATSOEVER. I tried to use this service in France and accidentally entered the wrong date (15.08 instead of 13.08). On the 13.08, when I needed a driver, no one showed up. I called the driver and asked him to cancel any future appointments as I had already sent my son in a taxi. I couldn't navigate their website, couldn't find the booking, and even their phone number didn't work. I complained on PayPal and thought I'd resolve it during my vacation. Then, on 15.08, I saw a new driver being sent. I immediately called him before any pickup to avoid wasting his time and canceled. Despite this, the company still refuses to refund the €80. NO VALUES. This company has no understanding of customer service. Be careful who you support in business. Stay away, This is a total SCAM: Totally overpriced service :$70 for a 15 min taxi drive from VCE airport to Venice island, that I took to secure a short connection. "Welcome Pickup" informed me couple of hours earlier (While I was flying) that my pickup was cancelled due to "high demand". Another version is that they ask you a 20-40 Euros over-charge when you arrive. They basically take more pre-paid demand that then can provide. And then select the highest bidder when you are stuck (and I missed my connection..) After contacting the customer support a week later, they offer a complimentary €15 Flex Coupon to use with their scam business!.. Thanks but no thanks. They have a strange refund policy. Cancelling well in advance of the ride carries a 20% penalty? In my case I forfeited €12. Apparently nothing if you cancel within 24hrs - you get a credit. After signing up and paying I had to alter the date of the transfer, destination was the same. A new screen came up with a request for the number of hand carried bags. Added two bags and was advised the destination didn't exist, and that I would have to pay an additional €17 for a new route and for the additional bags. The company is a rip off. I would not recommend this service. I booked them thinking it would be good but we had 3 people and 3 big bags plus carry ons. We were assigned a Prius. I was worried that we wouldn't fit but couldn't get any info from the company. I was told to contact the driver, which I did but when I didn't hear back from him I decided to cancel even though it was less than 24 hours till our reservation because I couldn't risk not fitting in the car or being super uncomfortable. I booked an uber, got a nice big car, and it was $17 cheaper. I was hoping this company might cut me some slack and give me a partial refund due to the lousy service but it appears that may not happen. read more

I would not use this company. I had a connecting flight from Venice to Munich to Berlin. The Venice to Munich was cancelled and we were rebooked on a flight through Frankfurt. I contacted the driver to let them know and change the time of pick up. I could not change the ride through the app because it was within 24 hours. AND since my connecting flight from Munich was NOT cancelled, I was told there was nothing that could be done. End of story. There is a REALLY good reasons these guys have such a lousy rating---they are nothing more than a glorified taxi hailing service---and not even a good one at that. They send emails with the driver they have scheduled for you (with a nice car), advising they will be in the airport arrivals area, holding a sign and waiting for you. Pretty funny. Both times I used this service there was nobody waiting for me with a sign and I got text messages saying they were "outside" and I had to go find them. One driver said he couldn't find parking (even though there were at least 20-30 other car service drivers waiting with signs). Took me 20 minutes and a lot of bag-dragging to find him. The next time I tried it the same thing---but this driver said he was outside because "his cell phone wouldn't work by arrivals at the airport", but again---there was a huge amount of driver pickups from other companies with signs. They sent the driver to the wrong address. Apparently there are two street addresses that are the same in two different districts in Budapest. Rather than confirm, they sent the driver to the wrong district. He called and said they had sent him to the wrong address. I had a transfer scheduled for a pickup for 12:00pm originally. Within the time frame (4 hours) of it being too late to change the pickup time my flight details changed and I needed to be picked up at 11:30am instead. Since I was unable to change the pickup time in the app or online I was forced to cancel and reschedule the pickup. I had a driver within seconds and the pickup and drive from the water taxi to the airport went smoothly. The driver arrived plenty early and was waiting with a sign. However, since I had to cancel within the time frame that was not listed anywhere Welcome Pickups was going to charge me for both transfers. I was in a foreign country (Belize) with no phone service and a time sensitive transfer. When I reached out to customer service they were super useless at first. Eventually after sending emails back and forth I talked to someone who was able to help me and was originally going to give me a partial refund. But I said this was unacceptable as the app was very not user friendly and the time frame to cancel a transfer was also not listed. Eventually they gave me a full refund after countless emails. If I could I would give my driver a 5/5 star. They were great and very professional. The customer service initially was pretty much useless and not great. Driver was at Orlando international and not Sanford- a 30 minute drive. When asked how soon she could arrive was told could not and had another booking. This was a prepaid booking. DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS TERRIBLE COMPANY. Don't do it. As a solo female traveler, I wanted a more "reliable and secure" experience going from the airport to my hotel since I'd heard some things about taxis in Paris. Well, little did I know this company is way worse than that and reliable and secure are not something they know the meaning of. First of all, they make you select a flight from their drop down menu, so if their information is incorrect, what you submit will be incorrect. My flight information was incorrect in their system and so they sent me an email requesting I update it or else "my transfer might be cancelled". First of all, regardless if my flight info is wrong, if I book a transfer for pick up at a certain date and time, the driver SHOULD be there and wait their 30 minutes. That's what I PAID for. I "update" the information and this time the flight is correct in their system and they reply with an email confirming the update. Great, all is good then. Then after my 11 hour flight I check my email since there is no WiFi on my flight and I see a ton of emails from WelcomeTransfer and my driver saying the information is wrong and my transfer has been cancelled. I had also messaged the assigned driver and the "great, friendly, warm driver (they claim to have)" didn't even respond to my message, so that's how great they are. They are claiming I submitted incorrect information regarding my flight which again, was not incorrect and only offered an 80% refund even though THEY cancelled it based on their fraudulent terms. I've already told them to refund me the full amount since I provided everything correct and they are the ones who for some reason decided to cancel my transfer or I'll do a chargeback and they can deal with proving how what I provided was incorrect. Scammed - but luckily on;y cost me 6 bucks, Booked pickup in Las Vegas, Paid, the got an e-mail that my flight was invalid and they could not schedule a driver and my "transfer" would be cancelled. I have been trying to get a response from WelcomePickups via their chat line with a 40 minute, 30 minute and over an hour delay before advisor assigned to query. I have given them the same details repeatedly that the driver was not in the arrivals hall at Valencia airport upon arrival but did speak to me (In poor english) on the phone. It was also obvious that he hadn't monitored the flight as expected. He directed me outside of the terminal where there were a few taxis lined up. Despite saying he would pick me up he didn't show and I eventually got another cab. The driver has put his assignment down as completed although it obviously wasn't. Mistakes can happen but it is how a company deals with them that is a true mark of their competence and reliability. The last chat response was they would investigate and get back to me. Had a good experience with 2 rides - STRIKE 1 HOWEVER be aware that if you book and cancel - for whatever reason, you lose 20%. If you cancel in less than 24 hours - you lose 100% STRIKE 2 I booked and then asked the driver in chat if the vehicle was large enough for 2 people that were well over 6 feet 4 inches (larger people) + 2 other 'normal' adults. They said yes - and IT WAS NOT big enough. We squeezed in for a 30 minute ride which was not ideal. One person couldn't even buckle seat belt. Be aware that if you need space for larger people, you have to state you have 5 suitcases and then you get a mini van. Which is WAY more EXPENSIVE. STRIKE 3: found a London cab like private taxi (Caocao) that fits 4 of us (2 larger people with mobility issues) for less than half the price. Cars were nice and drivers good. Buyer beware read more

Easily could have gotten in a taxi after less than 10 mins and part of the point to book a car is to avoid the taxi line. The car was dirty, a bunch of junk in the trunk that my bag had to be thrown on top of and the driver was wearing sweat pants and looked like he had not showered recently. Strongly recommend you pass on Welcome Pickups. I reserved transportation through Welcome for our honeymoon trip to Italy. Not speaking the language and wishing to avoid grappling with the ground transportation bazaar to reach Sorrento from Naples, Welcome looked like a fantastic option and everything I was looking for. Pre-arranged booking with agreed upon price, nice vehicle, English speaking driver, that checked the boxes. Unfortunately, pretty much downhill from there. We were delayed getting to Naples by three hours and upon landing I received a notification that our reservation was cancelled due to lack of driver availability. I can understand that they can't accommodate a flight delay indefinitely. However, it would have been nice if they could have recommended alternatives. So with that falling through I headed to the taxi stand and paid a huge fare in a lousy vehicle. Now for the return trip, I figured there wouldn't be an issue for Welcome. Pick up at the hotel, no flight delay to screw things up. They even sent me an e-mail assigning us a driver. It's looking pretty good so far, but on the day of our departure, I opened the Welcome app and saw there was no driver assigned. I was concerned, but figured they would assign someone. One hour before leaving there was still no driver assigned, I called customer service and was assured they were trying everything they could to assign a driver. I found none of that reassuring and then received an e-mail that my booking was cancelled. So off to the hotel's taxi stand to take another expensive cab ride. And of course none of the taxis want to accept credit card so the taxi had to take me to an ATM to withdraw cash. So basically all of the lousy parts of ground transportation that I wanted to avoid by using Welcome didn't happen because they couldn't come through. If Welcome couldn't accommodate us, they should have cancelled 24 hours in advance so we could have arranged another option. Welcome did give me a full refund, so for that I will award 1-star instead of zero. In the end, you might have a good experience with Welcome, but it doesn't feel like a big enough operation to handle all the bookings so beware of counting on them. read more
