Tucked away down a little alleyway, Wellesley Street Kitchen is a well-kept secret for those in the know. I ventured here with a friend who works in the area and found it bustling but not overly packed, always nice when you'd rather spend time chatting than standing in a queue. The furniture appears to be midcentury and second-hand-sourced, giving the cafe a cosy vibe. We were lucky to score one of two outside tables which, due to the cafe's location were sun-drenched but sheltered from the wind.
The menu is largely breakfast based with the quirky addition of a couple of Asian inspired salads. There's also a broad range of cabinet food including gluten-free items. My friend went for the beef and lemongrass salad and found it deliciously fragrant. I was seeking something warmer and was not disappointed in my choice of Cajun mince on toast. I was also impressed that they had my favourite flavour of Good Buzz Booch and I'm excited to see this become more mainstream.
Service was friendly and fast and I can definitely see why this has become a regular for many employees in the surrounding businesses. Wellesley Street Kitchen know what they are doing and they do it well. read more
