There is a hard core group of drinkers and "local personalities" that can be overwhelming for the uninitiated, this however if your on you own or in a boring marriage / relationship can make for amusing viewing. This aside, the relatively new management team have really turned this pub around from what was a bear pit to a well organised and comfortable pub with the best locally priced food and beer. Fosters for instance is 70p cheaper a pint than the relatively nearby Badgers Wood. It also sells a very reasonable choice of wine at very competitive prices. There are even guest Real Ales to keep almost every happy apart from me, come on people lets have a quality Cider on tap, not that rubbish Strong**w. Recently benefiting a big refit this pub has comfortably retaken its no.1 spot in Tadley. With great value food, comparatively cheap beer, several new tellies with Sky and ESPN sports makes it a sensible choice for watching the big match or having bit of a sesh with mates.

The landlady is second to none and seems to make every effort to make everyone feel at home . There are a regular rotation of real ales which are kept to a high standard . There is regular entertainment with crib night , darts ,live music and a very successful open mic night on a tuesday . There was no festive atmosphere in the bar or the restaurant.... lunch was ok but not the best is the truth...there was plenty of it and the Turkey was beautiful to be fair. Two of us left a lot of uneaten food on our plates. ( nobody asked why?) My husband went from our table to the bar to order a coffee and a vodka and a bottle of tonic ....the guy in the shorts brought them over and just put them each in front of the wrong person and with ALL of the tonic poured into the glass with the vodka. I advised him very nicely that I didn't want all of the tonic poured into the glass ( that's not how I drink it ) ...he picked it up, walking away with it, shaking his head!! A proper Barman would never pour all the tonic into the glass .... one of the lovely young ladies brought another vodka and a bottle of unpoured tonic over to us. The worst thing is , we were charged for the vodka that he took away! So feeling very deflated after that Christmas Day Lunch. Would we go back there again? No. Would we recommend ...No.
