The National Optometry Centre offers FREE eye exams!! Ok admittedly they're student run clinics, but that actually works to your benefit. The students are excited to learn and to be performing tests on you, and because of this you actually get a more thorough exam that you might get with a seasoned vet. Still worried about the capabilities of students checking out your eyes well not to worry all tests and results are re-checked by a supervising consultant. I had a really great experience here and everyone was super friendly and helpful and I left feeling like my eyes had gotten their best exam in years and even better because it was all FREE. They also have contact clinics and other specialised clinics and will recommend you to those if they feel you need it. Absolutely superb!

I came here recently after scheduling a very last minute eye exam to apply for my learner's permit…read more They were really understanding in getting scheduled in quite quickly. I was told on the phone I would be in and out in 20 minutes. So I thought, "awesome! I'll still have time to make plans for afterwards." I figured 20 minutes would be a bit quick, and it was. So luckily I scheduled extra time. When I arrived, they asked me to wait in the waiting room. I noticed other people were filling out forms, so I asked if there were forms I needed to fill out (as every other medical place I've ever been this has been the case). They said they would bring the forms out to me, and call me when they were ready. about 20 minutes went by (not a proverbial 20, but a literal 20). Right as I was about to go check on the status, they called me back and started the eye exam. Although I had to wait a little while in the waiting room, I was done with the full eye exam in about 5-10 minutes. So all in all, for scheduling my eye appointment the same day, pretty happy!

Mentione everything to staff at the start what i actually want from them and main reason why i am there. Met 3-4 different staff members during this time and at the end the last one staff memeber said she cannot give anything in writting .. There was alot of staff in the store but seems staff need more training about the services they can offer. I wish staff should have mention this to me at the start so i would not waste my 1 hour there and find an alternative place who actually have more trainned staff. Complete waste of time.

Found one in Dalkey. Gill Opticians were absolutely amazing. From the time I entered their establishment the customer service was excellent and huge selection of high quality designer frames Also they use Zeiss lenses which are the best. This office was recommended to me and it did not disappoint! First impressions mean everything; so, as soon as I entered the building I was pleased to see how clean and attractive it was. The office itself, although at basement level, was even more inviting. I was seated in a really nice waiting room with several comfortable brown leather chairs. And, I was offered a cup of tea while I waited. I saw the Hygienist (Ms. Francis) and she was awesome - incredibly thorough! She got me back in working order so I can show off my pearly whites to the world again :) She also gave me lots of feedback and information regarding caring for my teeth. The Dentist (Dr. Quinlan) saw me briefly after my cleaning was completed, a no-nonsense, yet quick and thorough, check followed by a seal of approval. Before I departed, I utilized their restroom which was so lovely I almost set up camp there...! A clean, comfortable, and attractive facility - especially for dental work - is important to me. Add a thorough check-up by efficient professionals and I'm a happy camper. This is the spot I'll return to to keep me smiling! Say Cheese! This review is for the Emergency Department in particular…read more I gotta say I'm impressed. I went in through main reception and they pleasantly directed me to the right area. Once in the hospital part, everyone was lovely. When I reached the ER, it was calm quiet and only 2 other people were there waiting. My details were taken, a wrist band was placed on me and I waited on a chair for all of 4 minutes. I was then seen by a nurse who took all the particulars of the problem, asked me a whole lot of questions. She took my temp, not with any old archaic mechanism..she waved what I can only assume is a tricorder in front of my forehead!! She then took me to a room with a bed and fancy machines. This was no trolly with a curtain. A full fledged bed (very comfy as well) in a proper room with walls and a sliding frosted glass door. (open and closed by hand motions..I felt I was on the USS Enterprise!) I was given a nice soft cotton gown, fairly decent for a hospital gown and was told they were going to give me an ECG. The nurse arrived about 10 mins later and he was absolutely lovely. Did the ECG, then went saying someone would come for bloods shorty. About 10 mins later, yes, the nurse arrived to take blood. She kept me chatting and although she had some difficulty in getting anything from me (I'm hard to get blood from) I'm delighted to report that I've barely a mark from it. My GP usually makes a balls of it and I have bruises everywhere from it. The ECG guy arrived back a few minutes later to take me to xray. Again, very pleasant chap. The xray person was so nice as well. Back in my room, I waited maybe 20 minutes for the Dr. He came in, seen me, and said as long as my bloods came back OK I could go home. 10 minutes later the results were in and I could go. From the time I walked in the door, until I walked out: 2 hours. Can you imagine if I'd have gone elsewhere? A few years back I was sent to ER elsewhere by a Dr, I had to wait 4 hours just to get a nurse to speak with me. Then another 2 hours for the Dr to see me. I used to work in a hospital for a bit, the number of people waiting over 2 days to be tested and seen by a Dr was frightening. I know people sneer at the cost, and its a shame they have a review of 1 star because of their parking charges, but what value do you put on your health? I know people who spend more on dinner and drinks than a visit here costs. Everyone has their priorities, mine is this. Ireland has created this 2 tier system, thankfully I have the capacity to pay. For full disclosure, I paid 140 euros to attend and the ECG, X-rays and full bloodwork came to 240. 380 in total. Totally worth every penny. If I needed to, I'd take a out loan to go again if I had to.

Appointments happen at a speed unheard of in the public health system and they have a clinic where you can have blood taken on site with very little waiting. Seeing the consultants are very pricey and you might feel the bums rush a little when you actually pay a lot to get very little of their time! On saying that they have all the right people there are can refer you in house to other specialists. So it's good but you might need to save up to go there!

I've been going to Mercer for 5 years now as it's linked to my college so everything is free for me…read moreuntil I graduate so I'm not familiar with the charges, but the clinic is very clean and most of the doctors are very nice and professional. Over the years the doctors working there have changed and I usually seem to get a different doctor each time a make an appointment. I can understand that they are a busy clinic, but it would be handy to see the same doctor so you don't have to explain things multiple times or have them stare at the computer trying to figure out your medical history. On a good day I only wait 5-10 mins from my appointed time, but on a really bad day it can go up to 30mins. The clinic itself is very clean and big, has BBC on the tv and it's not too hard to make an appointment with the exception of December~ January. They do travel health and immunisations as well at a cheaper rate than places like Tropical Medical Bureau but are only open until 5:30pm. Overall, nice clinic, efficient service and professional staff.
