What I like most about this shopping centre is that there even some independent small businesses here. It's not ALL Sayers, the O2 Shop, Home Bargains, et al. Another neat thing about this particular shopping centre is the exceptionally large amount of charity shops you will find here. If you love bargain hunting, second hand book browsing, and vintage/rescued clothing, you'll have a blast perusing the wares in the many different charity shops here. I find it difficult to drag myself away. Of course if you do prefer the chain stores, and the big names, you will find some of them here, as well as in the Pyramid Shopping Centre just next door.

Only yesterday I went to a network's-own shop (mobile phone) and B&M (the discount store) and didn't have to get rained on as the car park is also accessed from inside the centre. The only thing about the car park is, it's on a one-way street, and I get lost in Rhyl quite easily as about half the town centre is one-way streets!

Debenhams Browns of Chester is the only Debenhams store to retain its' original branding, Browns of…read moreChester. It has been owned by Debenhams since 1976, yet the store is fairly old being founded in 1780, while it doesn't seem to compare to the older department stores in London, it still is a fairly nice branch, you can enter the store through street-level or through the Grosvenor Shopping Centre. The store is pretty old and you can tell that through shopping inside, they have random sets of steps and ramps all over, so it isn't just one straight/flat level, so do be careful where you're walking to avoid tripping. They had a huge clearance sale on my visit, due to Debenhams' facing difficulties and having to close many of their stores, including this one, I still found many of their prices to be high even after the discount, I found the promotional offers to be inconsistent and it was hard to tell what item costs what as each part of the store/product range would have a different % off. The store did seem a little messy, but it did have some good products overall and it is nice to see they haven't ignored the history, it's a shame to see this store earmarked for closure as although it isn't perfect, it is and remains a nice addition to the town centre. 3*

This place really is fantastic for womens clothes - like debenhams it has all the usual brands such as Jane Norman and Oasis, and it has a great underwear section with huge variety of pretty knickers. It also has a wedding section with loads of higher quality dresses. Of course these come with a higher price tag that the high street stuff that can be found there but this is where I would come to look for something to wear for a special occasion.

You can find almost anything in here, from £1 CD albums to tents and camping stoves. Cooking equipment, lots of food and drink and random items such as key ring mobile phone chargers and cushion covers. You can even find DVD's that will never have appeared at the cinema, with actors and actresses that you've never heard of for around the same price! It's a step down from the likes of Home Bargain, but it's a great store for a bargain none the less. You can probably get a month's shopping for the same budget as you would spend on a weeks in a high street supermarket, therefore I would thoroughly recommend this place to students and poor people :)

What better, then, to spend the afternoon shopping. We had the time, the energy, and because of the sales, the cash. I've heard that Cheshire Oaks is very much like those subject-to-season shops I often talk about, the TK Maxxes and Home Bargains of this world. Sometimes you can go and come away armed with inexpensive goodies. Other times, no matter how much you root, there's nothing there. I however caught it on a good day. And it was a surprise and a half. What I had expected was a mall, something Arndaley or Lowry-esque, but what you actually get is what looks like a gargantuan entertainment complex with a vast car park in the middle. All the stores are decked out in a kind of mock-Tudor frontage which somehow just about manages to be endearing as opposed to tacky. And the sheer variety of stores is simply mind-boggling. We found ourselves in All Saints, Diesel, Levi's, picking up many little bargains. But there's far more than that, there are sports shops, electronics stores, homeware outlets, the list just goes on. You'd find it hard to visit everything in a single day, and it would take me about five pages to list everything. With eateries on every corner it's easy to while away the hours there. I'd heartily recommend that you download the online store guide before you go and perhaps print out a copy to ensure that you don't get lost or miss anything. With regular buses travelling to the site and nearby train stations Chester and Ellesmere Port, there's no excuse for not taking a little sojourn from the city and travelling here. I promise you, if you catch it on a good day your car boot or poor arms won't be big enough to carry all your goodies. Get involved.

The Rhos-on-Sea Tourist Information Centre, found on the Promenade, doubles up as a charity shop…read more The centre is manned by volunteers from the Happy Faces childrens charity in return for which the charity operates it's shop from the premises. As the volunteers as all locals with an extensive knowledge of the area they should be able to answer most queries thrown at them. There are also numerous leaflets and booklets available promoting local tourist attractions. The charity shop isn't quite what you'd expect as with the exception of a small selection of books, cds and videos they don't sell second hand goods. However what they do offer could best be described as tat. There are a lot of the kind of the toys and novelties that you might expect to find in a joke shop. One side of the shop is stocked with Welsh souvenirs so if you need a Welsh tea towel or mug to take home as a present for Auntie Doris this the place to go. Whilst the quality of the goods may leave something to be desired your money will be going to a good cause. Happy Faces have recently funded a new minibus for Ysgol Gogarth which is a school for disabled children in Llandudno so please try to search this shop out and spend a quid or two.

The shop can not be missed as it has a big clock on the top of it that is at 12.30 constantly, or at least it was the last time I checked. It could be that I just happen to pass it at 12.30 all the time though. The girl who helped me find the nearest toilet was a charming lady. I did not ask for tourist info as i live near by but I imagine if you were to ask they would know what they are talking about. they have plenty of leaflets on things to do in the area. though there is probably more leaflet material about llandudno and surrounding areas.

Probably not something to shout about but…read moreconsidering Tom Morris started out by inheriting a very modest family business and turning HB into a multi million pound nationwide chain is nothing to sneer at. Cheap and cheerful is the motto - not officially but I'm guessing it's what it would be - as 'top brands at bargain prices' is the name of the game. I can't say that I have been to any HB much bigger than this store but HB's are not somewhere to do your weekly shop but more a place to get daily essentials.

It is a store filled with top brands at bottom prices and the variety of basic home essentials, canned and quick snacks they sell makes it an ideal source where you can buy general everyday items. Sometimes you can get away without having to go to the bigger stores as you can often find cheaper prices and get better value for money here. After all, it is really home and bargain! The service at each till is often busy but efficient and staff will put all your items into a carrier bag, so you don't have to. You can always trust this place and you can't really go wrong.
