I knocked 3x as I stood there and watched the security guard and a nurse chit chat just 4-5 feet away inside the door. 2 other nurses walked by and looked at me and kept walking. Finally, a nurse walked out and said something to the nurse talking to the security guard and he opened it. The Dr came in and did the procedure on my brother around 9am. I walked out the door and told th adr that I would be sitting in the chairs by the door. (My back was literally 6 inches from the door) Somehow I never heard the Dr leave the room and he didn't come looking for me so I didn't know my brother was done til after an hour and a half after they finished.

Number two is they failed to disclose that my little brother had had an anoxic event (lack of oxygen to his brain) after his breathing tube was dislodged. Try getting records and they will give you the run around. I wanted to file a sentinel complaint but the hospital said they would not. I'm also a provider and had to run the entire code while my brother was seizing while he was intubated. After having a nosocomial infection that was, number one, untreated number two, had no access to central venous line. Had a PA tell me my brother was dying only to be called by the Intensivist to say he was ok and no to listen to the people "not in charge of my brother's care" I went to the board of law in Texas and they can't take the case because of the limits to malpractice laws for Texas. Dr. Mertz sets his patients at ease. He doesn't beat around the bush, answers all our questions with a thorough explanation, offers prevention advice, and has a very proficient practice. The paperwork that is shared with the patient is modern and easy to follow. The admin help visibly work off the options of the health insurance I am using. The low waiting times with the waiting room and exam room have been impressive versus what I read of elsewhere. The overall operation is set up to run efficiently, which is too rare in the healthcare industry. The waiting area is large, clean and well-kept. Both my wife and I have seen Dr. Mertz several times since becoming his patients and every time we only spent five to ten minutes in the waiting room and only a couple minutes in the exam room before Dr. Mertz came in. I only wish I had found Dr. Mertz when I retired to Corpus Christi in 2005. My life would have been much better from a medical standpoint. The women working at the front desk were very kind, patient, and helpful with my new patient paperwork. The nurse who took my vitals made me feel very comfortable as well and kept the feeling light. Dr. Spenrath was an absolute beam of sunlight, she came in with bright eyes, a big smile, but it didn't feel overwhelming.shook my hand and introduced herself and was overall the best doctor I've ever interacted with. I came in for a basic wellness check but she still spent all the time I wanted and never rushed through me explaining trivial things.
