Wells Photo is a remnant from the bygone era of film photography. To step inside their store is to be promptly transported back in time to the 80's. All you need is an afro and bell bottoms to complete the look. Old 80's era photo books are strewn about, all probably obsolete. They also have old school lenses, filters, and other photo accessories for sale. It's safe to say that the store hibernated for two decades and just woke up.
The reason to come to Wells is not to poke fun at their 80's style of things, but to take advantage of a service they offer almost no one else does anymore - black & white film processing and contact sheet printing. I know that purists would say that black & white processing is best done at home, but sometimes you just have to outsource it because of time and/or space constraints. Wells Photo, with their years of experience, is more than capable of handling the task.
The next time you're going to have a roll developed, make sure to get contact prints also. Even if you're going to scan the negatives, holding a contact sheet in front of you is an experience digital just can't replicate. read more
