We got there Thursday a little after 4pm opening in a downpour so there wasn't a line. The day's special--written on a white board--was an alligator po boy and Mr R had never had alligator so that was easy. For myself I chose the soulful catfish bites from the menu at the window (he posts the week's menu on FB, although I didn't see sides mentioned). As sides I chose sweet potato fries and okra, for dessert the blueberry cobbler. One lemonade and one sweet tea. Lord, it was tasty. The gator po boy had a soft white sub roll, untoasted, with iceberg, pickles and tomatoes. The gator chunks were about 1.5 to 2x the size of chicken nuggets, with a perfect crunchy coating and not greasy. The meat was not dry, the flavor was good. The catfish bites were a little smaller than the gator chunks, and with the most perfectly seasoned, crisp, ungreasy, cornmeal coating. The fish was cooked perfectly and couldn't have been hotter/fresher out of the kitchen. The sweet potato fries were lightly salted, cooked expertly and came in a generous pile. The okra came in a light batter and tasted so fresh and green--Mr R fell in love with them (he'd only had okra boiled/wet before), but also blasphemed them with ketchup because he's a terrible person. Each plate came with ketchup, tartar sauce (more like mayo, really), and hot sauce. Two packets of each condiment for each plate which was more than we used. The cobbler. OH! The cobbler. He'd upsized it as a kindness for us, and I still don't know how exactly he made the sugary crunchy cobbler bits as half of them *still* had powerful crunch this morning after sitting overnight. The blueberry part was lovely jammy sticky but not over sweet. It was a wonderful dessert yesterday and a fabulous breakfast this morning. My single point of retraction? The now-moved-on LeStourgeon had the superior po boy set up (in my nascent opinion) with toasty bread and more produce to include romaine, onion and avocado plus a schmear of mayo. That's it, outside of that this meal was perfection. It's not cheap, the wait's never been excessive, it is WORTH it. I submitted a request on Monday, Jon told me that they were booked but could arrange a drop off and asked for a good time to speak on the phone. We spoke on Tuesday, and although he could not offer what he originally mentioned (appetizers, buffet etc), I was thankful and more than happy to accept the grazing table option. He stated that he would send me an estimate Wednesday. I received an estimate on Wednesday at 10:20 pm, which I accepted. This morning (Thursday), Jon replied that he would confirm everything with his chef and send me an invoice later. At 8:20 pm this evening, I got an email saying that Food Addiction would not be able to accommodate my event. I completely understand the last minute nature of my request but this company should've either turned me down immediately, or at least communicated this earlier in the day (phone call would've been nice). All of the other businesses Jon suggested were already closed for the day. In our communications, Jon tells me that I'm the very first person that their company has cancelled on. With only 3 reviews, I find that very hard to believe. I recommend considering an established local company with better business practices and communication for your event and avoiding Food Addiction at all costs.
