The Burger Inn - Cheeseburger Wrap

**INITIAL REVIEW**…read more Out of all the restaurants still in business in the Melbourne/Palm Bay area of the Space Coast, the one that has truly lasted the test of time is The Burger Inn. Located on US-1, The Burger Inn is a testament to the city's history as the restaurant was first founded back in 1952. That was a time when Melbourne was the eastern point for cattle herding in Central Florida. US-1 was still a dirt road back then. As a matter of fact, The Burger Inn is one of the five-oldest restaurants still in business in Brevard County. By age, it is the second-youngest (Dixie Crossroads in Titusville, FL is younger while Ashley's, Lone Cabbage Fish Camp, and the Old Fish House Bar & Grille are older). The age The Burger Inn shows is more a testament to its delightfully tacky charm more so than be dated. In short, their age equates to experience and wisdom that still makes them a popular choice amongst restaurant-goers anywhere, both locals and tourists alike. The Burger Inn is located on the eastside of US-1, just a little ways north of the Eau Gallie Art District, but just a little ways south of the Big Orange roadside attraction. Take note that the entrance into The Burger Inn is a "right turn only," so patrons going south will need to turn in at the light before or after The Burger Inn and take the residential roads to it. The Burger Inn, as mentioned earlier, is delightfully tacky in its charm. It has the updated design of a 1960s drive-thru diner with its bright colors of the time. Think of a lot of red and yellow, neon lights, and black-and-white checker floors. If it further helps, think of movies like Grease. The majority of seating is outdoors with stone chairs and tables which were famously used in old-school garden parks of the 1970s with their tile mosaic designs. The seating is shaded and have roll-down canvas covers to block sunlight and wind just in case. The bar area is still intact with all the old-school cookery right in front of you. But take note people were "smaller" back then so if you are bigger or taller person, sitting at the bar will be uncomfortable. This is a burger dive bar so most of your food will be of that preference. But unlike other places, they still place precedence on their classic burgers, sides, and milkshakes. You can truly attest to the rest of their menu if their basics are delicious, and I will say their regular cheeseburger, fries, and shake are more than good, but have that satisfaction from eating a good ole' fast food meal back when such was done with actual care. That doesn't mean The Burger Inn has not kept with the times. They have updated their menu to include present day offerings such as chili-cheese fries, onion rings, mozerella cheese sticks, and much more. Finally on the food, they do have a challenge in which you eat a 10-patty cheeseburger, a large order of chili-cheese fries, and a 32 oz. shake in less than 30 minutes, you will get a free t-shirt and your meal is free. If you fail, you pay $40 for the attempt (which is not bad for a price if you think about it). Actually, everything on their menu is priced decently. A burger is about $5, which is fair given inflation, but worth it when you are eating a wholesome old-fashioned burger. Probably the only Issue worth addressing is the restroom. Remember how I said the bar seems to be made for people at a time when they were smaller. The same goes for the restroom. It is literally only a single unisex room that somehow is smaller than the space in a portable potty. The toilet literally runs under the sink. Talk about a tight squeeze. Despite that minute details, I have never been disappointed eating here at The Burger Inn. They've always been consistent with their food, especially during a time when specialty groups seem to naysay on what we can or cannot eat. Ergo, I am giving them five-out-of-five stars. Definitely give The Burger Inn a chance.

I want to preface my partner and I live in Cape so we have been going to the Cocoa Beach location…read morefor 8+ years. Firstly, our server was really sweet and she got super busy minutes after we sat down. She did her very best but there were times that we were sitting for a long period of time without being checked on. This wasn't her fault what so ever. It is a very slow rollin restaurant. For instance, we had some apps and dinner and we were there for almost 2 hours. I have served my entire life and typical turn around for a table who isn't drinking should be 45 mins to an hour max (just my opinion from my experience). The food was amazing when it did arrive. The only thing I would comment on is the shrimp which you cannot tell in the picture but I believe this location goes through a lot of old bay if they pour as much as they did in our peel and eat. It was SO salty I had to dip it in my glass of water to even eat it. Other than that, the food was amazing as always. I have seen a lot of people complaining on here specifically about food temps etc but that was not our experience. The only thing I would suggest is to put the Mahi Rueben on this locations menu. That should be criminal making satellite and Melbourne residents drive to the cocoa beach location for that incredible sandwich We would definitely go again but this time it would likely just be apps for the meantime because we are hangry people and 2 hours is a bit too long for us personally.

And then it went downhill from there. I had the fish sandwich. Dry dry dry. And the fries it came with were cold. So not great. The wife had the fish burrito. She reports it as being lacking seasoning to point of bland. That was cold too. Service was fair, but to be fair to them, they were short handed. They took care of us for sure, but meh. Overall not great. Definitely go for the fish tacos. Sorry fans, we were disappointed.

I love trying local places, and this is certainly one of them! Baci has only been open for a year…read morenow and I see them being a staple in this area. Baci is definitely hidden gem in the strip mall. There is also ample parking too. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles, the bartender Melissa was probably one of the nicest bartenders I have ever met anywhere (and I've been to a lot of restaurants). Melissa is warm and welcoming and she makes a really good martini. I had Melissa make a limoncello martini and I had her add lavender which was amazing! The blood orange martini was also very good and the nutty old-fashioned, blackberry, martini, and chocolate martini (without the hazelnut) were all delicious too. You can tell the bartender Melissa really enjoys her job and she told me so! There is also clearly regulars that come to this restaurant for a reason that were very nice and welcoming too. I liked this place so much that I went two nights in a row before coming back to Chicago. Baci offers various specials through throughout the week and they keep their prices fairly reasonable. The garlic knots are very good that come with the entrées. The Baci ball appetizer was very good too, which was dough deep fried with a meatball and pesto sauce. The marinara that comes with it is also fresh and delicious. The eggplant Rotolo was fantastic (with the vodka sauce substitution) but the marinara sauce is just as delicious and ample for two people. I recommend the pasta on the side for an up-charge. The next night, I tried the chicken piccata, which did not compare to the eggplant Rotolo. This is a no-frills cozy pizza and pasta restaurant with a great cozy bar. I will definitely continue to come back when I'm visiting Florida, which is often as this is one of my new favorite restaurants when visiting this part of Florida. This restaurant definitely earned their five stars! If you have not tried this restaurant, I would absolutely come visit them (especially if you can find a seat at the bar as they get busy), you will not be disappointed!

They say you can never go home, and the older I get, the more I believe it…read more This was a chain that my family frequented back in my elementary school days. Walking in and sitting in that narrow booth, for a moment, I felt ghosts from my past come alive, a boy digging into his strawberry sundae as his loving parents discussed that month's social schedule while my sister colored on a kids menu. I felt safe. Fast forward to 2026, and the booth felt a little emptier, and the world, much riskier. My wife and I finished our meal as we exchanged a wink, a tribute to the days bygone. The service was friendly, the food unremarkable. There won't be a need to return, the ghosts of my parents aren't here.

**INITIAL REVIEW**…read more When I found out there was a Friendly's still open in the Space Coast, I had to make the trek primarily for nostalgia. I remember the simple foods of their children's menu and enjoying Cone Heads there, when I was young, worthwhile memories at a worthwhile place. However, that location was originally on Babcock St. in south Melbourne, and has been closed for many years. As a matter of fact, the old Friendly's building was bulldozed over in which a modern-day 7-Eleven was built in its place. This Friendly's location is on Eau Gallie Blvd. in Indiantlantic. It sure had the nostalgic look of a Friendly's so that was good, but unfortunately, nostalgia would not be enough to truly enjoy my outing here. Maybe I didn't know because I was young and didn't know any better, but Friendly's, at least this location on its initial visit, was sad and disappointing. Though an address is provided, Friendly's is its own building, a nostalgic building that kept to its original build from its heydey, on the southwest cornery of the Eau Ballie Blvd. and AIA intersection. Upon entering, you will be greeted with the classic Friendly's interior, too. However, you can literally "smell" that the wash water needs to be changed out. So imagine the old school smell of clean being a mixture of stale water and old water-based cleaner. That is what you smell walking into the place. I showed up at the swing from breakfast to lunch, and I wanted lunch. Unfortunately, it seems as if making the sudden switch was too difficult for the cooks in the back, an older gentlemen who I was able to hear complain about how it was "too early" for lunch. I still got lunch, though, but you can tell there were issues. For starters, the fried ravioli bites were served to me as if they were cooked in a gas station microwave: scalding hot on the outside, frozen and hard on the inside on a few of the bites. The others were... well... okay. The grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup was okay, too. I will say the basic grilled cheese was better than some other establishments I been to, such as Mash Monkeys Brewing and Planet Grilled Cheese (basic grilled cheese), but the soup was watery. I didn't even bother getting a Cone Head, which as the nostalgia I really wanted to experience because I was disatisfied. The saving grace this visit to Friendly's has is the waitress, an older lady named Jessica. She was very kind and accomodating, and even relayed any of my concerns pertaining to eating lunch "early" though it was at the beginning of the time. I made sure her tip was more than decent. Ultimately, I am going to have to give this Friendly's a two-star rating out of five review. It could definitely be better, but I also believe in the rule of averages and I want to say this might be the one unsatisfactory outing that happens every once in awhile. As for Jessica, thank God for her. You definitely need to give her her due diligence because she definitely deserves to work at a place that is better.
