We came to the restaurant around 3:00 and it was pretty much empty. Only one other patron was there. Given the emptiness of the restaurant we would think the service would be a lot faster, however, it was extremely slow, albeit, friendly. We all basically ordered the fish and chips and it took a long time for all our food to come. The server also didn't revisit our table to refresh our drinks once. The fish and chips itself was fried well, really crispy light batter, however, I found the batter a touch sour. I'm not sure if it's just a local thing but I didn't really like it. The fish was super moist though and well cooked. However, it could have used some salt... it lacked seasoning. I enjoyed it with the gravy and the fries. The fries were just normal but the coleslaw was delicious though. The tartar sauce was good as well. Overall it was a very average experience. I really wanted to experience what Newfoundland and Labrador could really give us. However, I thought this was pretty mediocre. Hopefully, dinner will be better. The inside is very hokey almost like a tropical theme, they also went by the name of Shamrock pub or something. We were all a little confused cause we thought it was jungle Jim's.

What can I say, the whole thing was a horrible experience in every way. My mother was never…read moretreated well by her family, she never even really had a birthday party before, so I wanted to make it special for her 65th. So I phoned down and asked if it would be possible for them to sing "Happy Birthday" to her when they brought out dessert. I thought they did that sort of thing all the time. So I asked before I had made the reservation (this being a full month before her birthday), if they would do that if it wasn't too much of an ask. "It's no problem at all, dear", the woman replied. I would phone 3 more times before her birthday to make sure that they knew what to do, and each time I was assured that it was no problem and that was the plan. Each time I was assured that it was no problem and that it was definitely the plan. Her birthday arrives and me, her other son and her niece show up to celebrate at dinner. I ran in a head and asked the host is if it was still going ahead. That they would sing her happy birthday. When they brought out dessert. She affirmed it. We had a so-so time until the food comes. No music played through the speakers and the restaurant was mostly empty. I think the Euro was on by yourself too. But there may have been one other person there, working, 2 at most. I would say the food was just, ok! I could just barely eat it, and it wasn't very good at all! If that was the only problem I wouldn't have even said anything. Every person in our group agreed on how - 'meh' - the food was. The person who ate the most only ate about 2/3 of it and the rest of us ate 1/4 of the food presented. I then go up to the waitress and tell her we're about to order dessert and if they were still going to sing "Happy Birthday" to her and she told me that they were. My mother orders dessert, the rest of us were hesitant to order any. I figured that they maybe put a candle on it and sing the song when bringing out the food. The waitress comes around the partition, just getting close enough to throw the plate on the table and immediately walked away. The other 3 of us begin to sing her "Happy Birthday", but the girl just kept walking. My mother looked happy we sang it to her. It's only fair that I mention that the waitress was very attractive and I wrote a note on a napkin saying I thought she was very beautiful and if she would like to get to know each other a little better and left my email address. I had also said that if the note upset her somehow, I was very sorry [I know, I'm have no game anymore - it'd been a few years since I've last asked a girl out and that was just bad]. So I paid for the meal and left a small tip, then left. The whole thing angered me and by the next day I had decided to complain. I phoned the manager and told him this story and he said he'd send a gift card to compensate me for the bad experience. As of today, I have yet to receive any gift card. In 94 days from now it'll be her next birthday!!! The whole thing was a disappointment. It was a waste of time, money and energy. If I had my time back I would've picked up Mary Browns & a cake for 1/3 of the cost and had it at the beach. As an appendix to this story, I just want to say that hypocrisy and people telling you they're going to do something and then not doing it, makes me very angry. And to you, who has read this long review, I would like to say, Thank you!!! I know it was long but I wanted to post about my experience at Jungle Jim's.

Hello, I recently…read morevisited your restaurant and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. The food quality was quite average considering the high prices. The restroom was also very dirty, which made the visit uncomfortable. On top of that, the staff's attitude was rude and unprofessional. Overall, the service and cleanliness did not meet basic expectations. I hope you take this feedback seriously and improve these issues. Sincerely.

There are a couple of tables in an eating area but no table side service. You order, pay, given a number and then proceed to wicket where your number is called and you take your food and go. Turkey is cooked in shop as is the bread. I opted for turkey sandwich (with dressing) and cran-mayo on white bread. Simple and delcious. They offer burgers, fries and the ever popular fries, dressing and gravy. Reasonably priced and tasty. Nothing fancy here but that doesn't matter.

My work colleague had mentioned to me that this place is famous for their Breen's famous turkey sandwiches. I was somewhat intrigued to see what this was all about! So I ordered the famous turkey with a pea soup $9.99. You had a choice of cranberry mayo or regular mayo. You pick up your meal from a sliding window that's hilarious (like a prison window). The sandwich came out as a heaping serving of real turkey with stuffing and mayo. The soup was really delicious also. Very thick purée of pea soup in a ham broth with a slightly sweet turnip tasting thick consistency. Overall it was amazing! There is a small area to eat in but fills up very quickly at lunch. The somewhat lack of restaurants in St John's means this place is pretty busy! Come get a Turkey Sandy, you won't be disappointed!
