After some dubious reviews on another review site we visited the Wessex with some concern, but were pleasantly surprised. (we learned it's recently come under new ownership/management).
Staff were friendly, welcoming and genuinely couldn't do enough for you.
The public rooms (except reception) may look dated, but the rooms all of our party had were pretty new and well equipt.
The food was average, but plentiful and more than acceptable.
All in all: £198 for 2 for 3 nights bed, breakfast and dinner was a good deal. read more
