Chestnuts is a lovely place with modern features and a delightful breakfast…read more We chose Chestnuts because it was within easy walking distance to the Glastonbury Tor. We came to see the sunrise at 4:50 am on the solstice. It was a moving experience. Duncan was coming back from the market with fresh bakery bread and fruit for breakfast when we walked back from seeing the sunrise. Breakfast was ready after we showered. After breakfast we walked down the hill to meet friends. Pearl has a lot of suggestions for where to go and what to see. Chestnuts has an excellent location for walking. It's 2 blocks to the odd little shops. All the mystical stuff from King Arthur and Mists of Avalon are within a mile: the Chalice Well, the Glastonbury Abby, King Arthur and Queen Guinevere's tomb. From here you could drive to see Stonehenge and Avebury in a day. My wife wants me to mention that we had our best showers here of our 2 week stay in the UK.

They went out of their way to run me into town when I was running late for my conference and the breakfast was everything delicious that you can imagine such as fresh juices, toast, eggs, ham or smoked salmon, fresh berries, yogurts, cereal or granola. Oh and don't forget coffee or tea. It was a real treat to stay at their B&B and I'd do it again.

For info, Dion Fortune is one of the greatest figures of the Occult. The view from the breakfast is absolutely stunning. The room was comfortable enough with ensuite bathroom but it was quite damp. The breakfast was ok but if you are looking for a full English, pass your way. The hostess was quite rude and I didn't receive a very warm welcome. I would recommend it just on a pure location basis.

Staff were friendly, welcoming and genuinely couldn't do enough for you. The public rooms (except reception) may look dated, but the rooms all of our party had were pretty new and well equipt. The food was average, but plentiful and more than acceptable. All in all: £198 for 2 for 3 nights bed, breakfast and dinner was a good deal.

My boyfriend and I had a lovely time in this tranquil B&B near Bath with free wifi. The owners,…read moreShanti & Mark, are the ultimate hosts. We arrived in the afternoon. Shanti had made a beautiful layered cake in her Aga stove, delicious! This beautiful building is made of stone and is where Mark grew up. It has been entirely renovated recently with new copper piping, and beautiful interior decorating. The bungalow has a separate entrance, it's own kitchenette/living room, patio/garden area just off living room, bathroom with steam shower, and private lush bedroom with beautiful bedding, decor, double glazed windows, and once in awhile the peaceful sounds of sheep from across the road. After checking in we were given an extensive breakfast menu with all the normal choices and a few out of the ordinary ones to choose from for the next morning. My boyfriend had poached haddock, eggs, and toast, I ordered smoked salmon, scrambled eggs, fruit salad, and yogurt. Fresh coffee, and tea were also served in their formal dining room just off the bedroom. Excellent breakfast! The B&B is about 10 miles from Bath and with prior communication and possibly an added fee a pickup can be arranged. Mark drove us into Bath where we were meeting family for dinner so we wouldn't have to drive home in the dark; my boyfriend is English but hadn't driven there in 40 years and hadn't used manual transmission in as long. There are also close bus stops to take you all over! The countryside is incredibly beautiful, this location is also not far from Bristol. We have thoughts of coming back and staying for weeks at a time. A lovely place to slow down your travels, take a breath, and be pampered by Shanti! (We do feel like we've made new friends for life in Mark and Shanti!) This is a brand new B&B, we were the 3rd to stay there.

After staying at other hotels while in the UK, I can say that this hotel is top notch. The rooms, including the bathrooms are spacious, well maintained, and clean. The entire hotel had a great atmosphere. I absolutely loved the sliding doors that opened up to a small patio with patio furniture. The restaurant, or pub, located at the hotel, has a warm cozy atmosphere as well and great selection of foods. The breakfast served at the hotel, which was included with the price of our room, was excellent. There was a great mix of cold options (cereal, yogurt, cut fruit) and a mix of pastries. In addition there is an awesome selection of hot choices (all your traditional breakfast foods)that is made to order, as well a pancakes and syrup, which I'm told is not common. My experience here was memorable in a great way, and I would definitely stay here again if visiting the area.
