Many might…read moredislike how small it is, but I found it quite accommodating, especially with a beautiful patio in a quiet, residential neighborhood of Frankfurt. The staff was extremely friendly. The barista was fluent in multiple languages, and was not off-put by using them. She very clearly knew what she was doing around coffee, which is always nice to see. The staff communicated very well overall, and added to the experience. The baked goods were clearly fresh; with all of the croissants I ate while in Germany, this was the best I could find! It took me a while to get here as I live pretty much on the very opposite side of the city, but I'm so glad I finally got to check it out (after so many raving reviews from fellow Frankfurters)! They have flawless customer service and the coffee is completely on-point. Their flat white is pure perfection and I can't wait to make it back to try some of their baked goods (and do some shopping). They offer two coffees- one of their own and one from Man Versus Machine, a Munich-based roastery (always subject to change so check oheim's Facebook page for details). Oheim is located on a peaceful street and has seating both inside and outside. It doesn't hold a great number of customers which adds to the quaint ambiance and allows the customers to interact with the staff. Nothing irks me than an overly packed place where you can't relax and have to wait thirty minutes for tables to be cleaned. This place is literally the polar opposite of that and feels like it could easily become my 'home away from home'. They also offer to-go coffee in environmentally friendly and sustainable cups. I'm not a huge fan of the term 'concept shop' because it can be so vague, but oheim is, to a degree, just that. You can buy some of the coolest goods here, from craft gin to laptop sleeves to specialty tea and accessories. I can't think of any other place in Frankfurt where you can sip on a smooth coffee and do a little shopping at the same time. They also offer specialty drinks for patrons who are not coffee enthusiasts. Owners Julia and Christian really offer a little slice of heaven in the often chaotic city of Frankfurt.

The atmosphere is one of serenity and beauty, with delicious coffee, great lunch options, and beautiful pastries. It makes me hungry all over again, just thinking about Amelie's, and I don't mean just physical hunger. I mean a hunger of the soul that craves to be satisfied with the charm and contemplative grace that Amelie's provides. It makes me happy to be alive, knowing that such places exist.

Even though it is at a relatively major intersection, sitting outside is gorgeous. Beyond just the setting, the food is absolutely incredible. Everything they have out looks good, but it was some of the best food I've had in a long time. It is all quite simple, but really well done. I had a spinach, eggplant and feta quiche, which came with a side salad. The salad was incredible. It was just lettuce, shredded curlicues of zucchini and cherry tomatoes with some concentrated balsamic and pepper, but the simplicity worked. The quiche was also delicious. I also had an iced coffee (real iced coffee!), and the coffee was perfectly made - not bitter, just a little bit naturally sweet and fruity. To end, I decided to get a piece of apple blueberry crumble, which was served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and whipped cream (homemade, I think) with cinnamon. The crumble serving was huge, but I could have kept eating it. And the total was only 7.60 euros. Amazing. So Sugar Mama is highly recommended not just for cakes and sweets, but also for their savory food. I was absolutely blown away.

This place in the morning seems to fill up fast with reservations, so we made sure we arrived a half hour after it opened. You come in, and basically seat yourself if you can find a table that is open. Menus should already be on the table, but ask if you need them. Again, learn some German and ask if the waiter or waitress can speak English. We were lucky that our waiter did speak English well enough to order. They do have English menus, but thanks to Google Translate, we ordered from the German one. Since I knew how to speak in German, I ordered for my husband an omelette with cheese and tomatoes, and I decided to try their homemade pancakes, which was actually a crepe with their "buffet" jam. The buffet was literally a shelf along the wall with all different kinds of homemade and store brand jams. Each was more spectacular than the next! Excellent choice for something different on the menu. My hubby's omelette was super yummy and flavorful. The service was not rushed in any way, and the vibe here is very relaxed and laid back. We could tell people were truly enjoying themselves and not rushing to go run off to do something else. If you don't have time to kill, this might not be your place.
