It is no wonder they are busy, and you must wait a bit to get in line for having your work done. Ours was an unusual situation, leaving both us and our neighbors in quite a lurch. Years ago the state re-routed driveways off a main highway and added a "street" for an alternate entrance to a few homes. The city annexed Eastside and took over where the state left off. The road has a water-board easement and other property owners, a street sign, stop sign, and is on city maps. Yet, city officials, politicians, and even the water board seemingly do not care if our driveway/city street literally falls off the edge of the hillside! We have battled every known official trying to get help for ourselves and our neighbors, realizing this horrific street condition should NOT be our responsibility. So... we begin getting bids to have the city street paved. The local bids were completely unreasonable for two property owners to split to pave a road that was not their responsibility to begin with. Three companies who came out and gave bids all assured us the road could not be "patched"... it must be entirely repaved. Finally... our neighbor contacted South Coast Construction, who came out with a VERY affordable bid to have the road "patched". Much to our surprise and delight, we got FAR more than we feel we paid for (even though it was never us homeowners who should've been paying to begin with). These guys showed up on a Thursday morning, and by evening, we had an entirely new road! They not only patched the major potholes, they did an overlay of the whole road, AND added a pullout for us to easily access our postal boxes. Though I obviously wasn't thrilled about being held responsible to fix a city street - we apparently don't belong to the "good ol' boy club - I was thrilled with the results, work, business ethics, and customer service offered at remarkably lower pricing than what we ever anticipated. Now I would love to ask the other 3 companies who assured us it couldn't be done if they are simply under-qualified for repair work, or if they too were just "trying to make an extra buck" by all the outrageous and hideous quotes. Thank you South Coast Construction for doing a superb job - going the extra mile unexpectedly, and at incredible pricing. We appreciate knowing there is still such a thing as "getting more than you bargained for" in business... especially locally. On July 30th, I sent an email inquiry requesting a price quote and provided a clear list of the items I needed. I received a response from Travis, who stated: "Most all the materials on your list i have to order and i'm waiting for a call back on a few of the items from the supplier, i most likely will have this quote rdy for you monday." Based on this, I reasonably expected to receive the quote by Monday. When Thursday arrived and I still had not heard back, I followed up, assuming the request may have been forgotten. I also inquired if I could speak with someone else, such as an owner, to help move things along. Instead of a professional response, Travis--sounding irritated--replied, "How about you come down to the store, bud." This comment felt unnecessarily confrontational. I replied asking why it was necessary to come to the store in person when I had already provided the list by email and simply needed a quote. His response was dismissive, stating he would "get to it when he can," which gave me the impression that my request was not important. At that point, I informed him not to bother, as it was clear he did not want to assist me and that I would take my business elsewhere. Unfortunately, rather than ending the matter there, Travis continued sending additional emails, including irrelevant commentary and even correcting a minor typo in my email in what appeared to be an unprofessional attempt to mock me. The final message I received from him read: "I am just as appalled and dumbfounded at your actions and responses. Again, sorry I couldn't help you and good luck." To which I replied, "You are correct on the dumb part," clarifying my disagreement with his characterization, not calling anyone "dumb." His final response was, "Lol another keyboard warrior." This entire experience was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. I am genuinely surprised that this type of behavior is tolerated within your business. I intend to share this experience with others, both locally and online, as I believe customers deserve to be treated with respect and professionalism. I hope you will take this feedback seriously, as I truly believe this reflects poorly on your business and could be addressed with proper training or oversight.

My husband went to Agri-Tech to purchase potting mix for 3 large planters and told the person what…read morewe were planting (flowers). He was recommended to buy a certain soil which looked like bark mulch and not soil at all. We used it, and I planted flowers seed June 6, 2025 and although they sprouted, they did not grow at all. Three weeks later I planted leftovers of the same seeds in a galvanized wash tub using bagged organic potting soil I purchased at Cascade in Coos Bay. They are growing fast and surpassed the bad soil plantings from 3 weeks earlier. My husband went back and complained, and the owner, Rex, "apologized" and said that he would bring out a load of the correct soil and that he would personally dig out the bad soil and dispose of it for us as my husband has an injured arm and cannot do it. When he arrived, my husband asked him to wait before dumping the soil as he wanted to put down a tarp first for easier clean up but while he was getting the tarp the owner dumped the soil right on our driveway in front of the planters. Rex did NOT remove the bad soil like he promised. He said he was too busy and just drove away leaving us to hire someone to finish the job he promised. So, we did not get a refund, and our $30 worth of soil ended up costing us over $100 to pay a young man to dig the old soil out and refill with new soil for us and also counting the $30 in wasted flower seeds that are now thrown out because they are ruined. I read the good reviews and wonder what has happened to Rex. If he is such a "good Christian" then why did he treat us so badly and leave us in such a difficult position? He treated us like our situation didn't matter to him at all even though he had told my husband that he would take care of all of this for us today and knowing that my husband could not do it with an injured arm. BTW, we are in our 70's. Bad business. We will never do business with Rex again.
