This place is famous for having bad online service and not keeping track of what's in stock. That reputation extends to the store as well. You can call and ask if they have something in stock, be told yes, come in to pick it up and drive here to find out they didn't have the item at all and haven't had it for months. If you could trust them to tell you what they have in stock, this could be a nice store to grab something from if you have a baby emergency. As it is, if I know I need something in advance, I can buy it cheaper online and have it shipped to me, so this store doesn't seem to have much of a point. read more

The website clearly stated shipping would take up to 6 weeks since it's a special order. That was fine -- we understood and planned accordingly. What's not fine? Zero updates. As we approached the 6-week mark -- nothing. No email. No call. No proactive communication. We gave it more time. Now it's been 9 weeks. Our baby was born 4 days ago. We are exhausted. My wife is recovering, in pain, and breastfeeding around the clock. A proper nursing chair would have made a huge difference during this time. Instead, we have nothing. And no answers. Every time I called, I was told they had "no information" and "no updates from the supplier." How are you selling high-ticket items without having visibility into your own inventory or supplier timelines? How does a company take thousands of dollars and provide zero accountability? No manager reached out. No escalation. No ownership. Just vague responses and indifference. Do not buy from here. The WORST customer experience ever!! Ordered a high chair that arrived with a broken piece. Called and they told me I had to deal with the manufacturer. The manufacturer told me that I could return it to west coast. Then west coast says I can return it to them but they take a week plus to respond to emails and need approval to issue a refund. If you call the store to escalate they insist that online is a separate entity. Which makes no sense! I've given up with this company and will never spend another dollar there again. This store has probably the WORST return policy for online purchases! Their website states that they accept returns "with original receipt and packaging". I recently purchased a stroller from them online, and when it arrived I shortly took it out of the package to have a look at it, and quickly realized it doesn't work for me (the handlebars were too hight to be comfortable, which is unfortunatley not something you would know from looking at the specs online). Having reviewed their return policy beforhand, I was careful to keep every little piece of packaging. However, when I emailed them about the return, they told me they wouldn't accept it because I took it out of the packaging!? How are you supposed to determine if a stroller fits your needs if you can't take it out of the package without voiding your return!? Why do they bother posting return rules, if they don't honor them!? I will never order with them again! Horrible experience. We ordered our car seat, crib, and stroller all at once 16 weeks before our due date. That's a $2,000 order. We were told 4 weeks for delivery of all of these, so we figured we had plenty of time. The car seat came 4 weeks late and the other two items still haven't shown up. The baby is now due in 2 weeks. We keep phoning the store and nobody has a clue what's going on. They keep saying it's a supplier issue, even though all 3 of these items are from different suppliers. They've given us the runaround on several occasions, made us change our orders multiple times (so now we're waiting for stuff that wasn't even our first choice... and that still hasn't made any difference in waiting time), they've suggested that we buy other expensive products of theirs as a stopgap while we wait for our shipments. We just got off the phone with them again and they told us delivery is delayed until MAY (this is the third time our stuff has been delayed). They've at no point shown any sympathy or been apologetic about the fact that the baby's crib is going to show up 2 months after birth. Like they think that's acceptable. I had an issue with an order that I needed prior to travelling. it arrived 2 weeks after I ordered it, which already is a long delivery time compared to other websites/stores. There was a delivery issue with UPS (which I often experience with this carrier) and I was unable to pick up the package before leaving meaning it would be returned to sender. Rather than giving a refund they charged me a return fee even though it was an issue with a carrier they chose. West Coast Kids is the one of the few stores that sell children's merchandise in the Metro Vancouver region. It's really the only game in town so there's not much one can do if they need to find something. Just like the legion of complaints against its poor customer service, our family was treated horribly. We knew about its reputation but we were desperate to obtain a stroller for our toddler whose old one broke down. We went in with a specific BabyZen stroller in mind and just wanted a customer service rep to get it from the backroom. We were given the royal runaround for half an hour, with a number of associates busy, ignored us, or said they'd find someone because they were helping another customer. The store actually has a lot of people working in it, but tragically, these associates do not help because they cannot overstep and cover another section of the store. It's poor management and therefore, it is a complete gongshow. But I think store ownership could care less just based on the poor reviews it's amassed over the number of years. We decided to instead wait in line instead to pay, but were greeted by a rude cashier who clearly was unhappy that we gave her more work to call the backroom to find us the stroller. We were treated as if we were doing something wrong by waiting in line. She was snippy the whole time, rolled her eyes at us, and snapped at us that weekends are busy. No kidding! She muttered under her breathe that we better get the colour we wanted because she didn't want a refund in the future if we weren't happy. I've never faced such a confrontational situation in my life Before in retail. Such blatant condescending attitude is uncalled for, especially at a children's store. The kicker is that we bought that stroller without any assistance but felt like we faced a lot resistance and hurdles throughout the whole ordeal. It was a traumatizing experience. No thank you, we will never be going back to this jungle again. We support local businesses, but not an entitled one like West Coast Kids. I have never felt the need to write a poor review - except for this store experience. I order a gift card online . after a week or so, I receive an email letting me know that the gc was returned to sender, and in order to get it sent back to me I needed to pay a $10 restocking and $10 shipping fee. Absolutely ridiculous. I sent customer service an email, asking for an explanation, and I never received an answer. I finally called customer service and asked for an explanation - I never got one. I asked why was the gc returned? The mailing address was correct, was it possible that an error occurred at their end and they copied the address wrong? I refused to pay for a restocking fee ( it's a gift card) and pay for shipping to get a physical card. Compromised and got an online gift card. I was buying this card so my mom would have a gift for her great grand daughter's baby shower - now she'll have a printed copy to give as a gift. When I asked why it is taking so long they say there is a 4-5 day "processing" period which was never stated anywhere. When I asked to cancel the order they said I had passed the "1 hour return policy"..Then they proceeded to tell me they found my products in the warehouse and I would receive the shipping notification shortly. My partner and I went into the Vancouver location this afternoon to pick up our crib and test out a couple of different car-seats. As first time parents, navigating through all the different product options can be quite overwhelming. We were extremely fortunate and grateful to have had the help and knowledge of one of the sales associates (Maddy). She was very helpful, patient and informative with all of the education provided to us on the various products. The customer service and overall experience was 10/10. We left feeling confident and excited about our purchases. We also purchased car seat adapters for our stroller which was price matched with amazon, an added bonus. I went in there to get support on a car seat base I had purchased for our newborn and waited around for 10 minutes without any assistance. I finally chased down a salesperson, explained what I needed, and assumed she would get me the help I asked for. 10 minutes later the same salesperson walked past and ignored me 3 times, while another stood on her cell phone for the entire time. I watched the same salesperson get verbally assaulted by, whom I assume is, the manager. I politely asked the salesperson for help again and the assumed manager rudely snapped at me "You need to be patient!" The store wasn't busy, half the staff were standing around, and I am 100% certain the salesperson had forgotten about me. I told her that I didn't appreciate being talked to that way, which led her to berate me until I lost my patience and told her she was rude and needed to treat customers better. We have spent thousands here, and I've never received such abusive and horrible customer service in my entire life. Judging by the countless negative reviews about this place online, it's shocking these people are still employed. This store offer a decent selection of baby essentials. There was a good selection of mid to high range strollers to look at and I found it easy to compare different makes. I did buy some items for my sister as well. This location is far from home so I would not go out of my way to buy something unless I am in the area. I'm shocked about the low reviews currently on WC kids Yelp page! I've been here multiple times and have found the staff to be extremely helpful. In terms of service - the store always has enough staff present so you're never searching around for someone to help you. I've found the staff in the stroller/crib section to be exceptionally helpful. They know their stuff, they can chat comparables with you and can note what to look out for with particular items. There's a young man who's a salesman who is hands down, one of the most knowledgeable people about baby items (car seats, strollers, baby carriers). He helped me decide on a baby carrier and a crib and he knows specs off by heart. He is honest about the pros and cons of their inventory. I trust him enough to go back to this location to ask for advice on any baby related purchases that require a sound opinion in regards to safety. In terms of products- the store tends to carry middle-to-higher end items. Organic, independently made or just big baby brands with big price tags. I don't do all my shopping here but if you're looking for something nice or want something like that, it's the place to go. I bought all of my baby's sleep sacks here, for instance, because the brand I prefer is hypoallergenic and comes in a variety of colours and patterns. They have a very cute toy collection, too. If you need to buy a baby gift, this is a fantastic store to visit. If you need to see in-person a particular brand or item that is pricey (as in, you don't want to wing it and just order online) this store will likely carry it. read more

Today was our 5th visit on a Saturday (both work M-F so no chance of coming here not on a weekend) and the store was, as usual, packed! Also as usual, the store was completely under staffed. The staff that are there look harangued and will actively avoid making eye contact with you as they walk to the back room. If you're busy with someone else, that's fine but is a simple "I'll be with you in 5?" asking too much? Today, after attempting to figure out the difference between the types of medela breast pumps, we did what has become a familiar WCK dance - attempt to secure the attention of any staff person. Walking upstairs, we talked to one staff who advised she can't assist with items on the lower floor. She did attempt to find us someone to talk to but nobody was available... having waited 20+ minutes just to ask a few questions and drop a hefty chunk of coin on a major item, we left empty handed and annoyed. This was not our first time standing around hoping for someone to help us at this store. For a place that caters, in part, to pregnant women, I do not expect to have to stand around a half hour hoping for some assistance. Get your shit together WCK. If it's ALWAYS busy on a Saturday, staff appropriately! It's not like strollers, cribs, breast pumps and car seats are terribly intuitive products for first time parents... staff your store so customers can ask the necessary questions in order to spend money at your business! I always like browsing here as they have a giant collection of cute stuff. But when it came to buying a car seat, I had one major complaint. THE SALESPEOPLE ARE NOT CAR SEAT TECHNICIANS. They sold me a $450 seat that is known to not fit rear-facing in my car, and returning it was not an option. Even though I told them that was the planned use. So here I am having to purchase another seat to use until my kid can switch to forward facing. Several hundred dollars lost. Please, please get your staff trained as car seat techs. It wastes your customers' money and is not safe for kids. And to potential customers- until they train their staff, make sure to get a car seat tech to check out whether your car and seat are compatible before you buy. Westcoast Kids Upon entering the store, the staff were frazzled and appeared overworked. We tried multiple times to get a sales rep to help us but in the end, we picked out our crib on our own based on online reviews. After ringing up our crib, they informed us that it would take 4-6 weeks for it to arrive. About 7 weeks later, we called the store and were told that it had just left California. I asked if I could add a car seat adapter to my order and the response over the phone was, "You'll have to pay for it" which I fully intended to do. About 2 weeks after that phone call, I called again to inquire about the status of the crib and they mentioned that they had no record of it and would phone us back when they received more information yet I did not hear from them all week. Another week later (so 10 weeks after ordering my crib), I phoned to inquire about it and they told me that the crib had been in for a week and they had left me a message. I mentioned that I had phoned a week ago and they had not left me a message and they said, "Well, you still have to pay for half of it" since upon purchasing it, we only paid a 50% deposit. In both of these cases, a simple apology for an oversight on their part would have sufficed. Also, in both cases, they were rude and acted as though I was inconveniencing them. I understand that delivery times might fluctuate but I was unimpressed with the lack of professionalism and customer service. If we were not in a pandemic and I did not need the crib, I would simply return it. However, I will not be shopping here when there are so many other options available. read more

In preparation for our first born, we became very familiar with all the main baby stores in the lower mainland. We came to West Coast Kids to explore the variety of items we might need, but especially to look at baby furniture. The store is well presented, clean, and there is a lot of variety of items to look at. Baby prices are fairly competitive so I feel they weren't necessarily over or under priced compared to their competitors. You really need to watch the sales though. The sales staff seemed a bit mixed. We were interested in a Stokke crib and the first person we talked to didn't seem to know what that was despite the store having a very prominent display. They also didn't seem to know much about the mattress options either. Eventually, someone else came to help, and to their credit, their knowledge was quite extensive about the things we should be considering. When purchasing, the transaction seemed to take some time while all the things we were looking for were found in the system. The warehouse staff was very nice though and helped us get everything in the car! All in all, I would come back here if there was a sale on an item I needed! read more
