There is a West Elm in Vancouver ( Kits). Near my parents place. So came here to see what they have. I like walking in here. The layout and style at this location is similar to the one back home. My sister was looking for a bedside bench but she didn't find what she want. She did see something similar but it was out of her price range. Its a higher end store. Very interesting store to walk in. I don't recommend buying online. Made for the modern home. read more

We ordered a sectional, coffee table and side table. Our Sales person was awesome; responsive, knowledgeable and very accessible, but the delivery process and products are another story. The delivery team didn't take their shoes off, tracked mud through our place and knocked over a vintage speaker, which was unfortunate. When we put the sofa together, found that the pre-drilled screw holes don't actually line up with the legs provided. This is our brand new sofa and it's already not 100%. Disappointed that we decided to purchase from here to be honest and should've read reviews more carefully beforehand! read more

After seeing some photos of the West Elm opening I knew I had to take advantage of the opening 15% off deal. The store is nicely laid out and the contents are of good quality and style. As a blogger, I really appreciate that I can buy separate plates, cutlery, napkins, etc. West Elm also carries some locally made items made here right in Alberta. I do have to say that I expected the sales people to be a bit more enthusiastic and helpful and that's my only reason for a 4 star review instead of 5. read more

Well it is now Dec 27 and still no chandelier. Customer service stopped replying to my emails. When I go to my tracking info it now says there's no date on shipment. Yet they have had my money since October 22 and have not refunded me. What a joke. Buyer beware they sell items on their website that do not exist !!!!! read more

I really like the decor pieces from West Elm and was looking for some new bedding and I saw a mirror online that I really liked, but alas the shipping on the website was more than the mirror! Ummm definitely not happening. They had some great deals on bedding that was on sale and I found the mirror in store and got a discount because it was a floor model with a small ship, the sales associate said that they were really fragile and all the ones they had were chipped (makes me even happier I didn't order it online, I can't imagine it would ship well!) alas hopefully it holds up, it's really pretty so I am happy with my purchase. I also like that they often have local businesses pop up in the store, this weekend it was Skwiik and in the past Bark YYC and others have been there. They also have a local shop corner in the store which is nice. As other people have noted, the sales staff aren't the most enthusiastic, I did have a few questions and needed some help and it took a really long time to get someone to help me but aside from that it was a good experience. read more

I saw some West Elm pillows online and didn't want to pay the shipping costs so I made my way to their store in Mount Royal Village, one of the few in Canada. My first observation was that their furniture and decor styles are very current and the quality is a couple of steps above a Swedish big box store, but it is definitely not heirloom quality. What they do have is a lot of pillows, rugs and home decor items at a reasonable price. They didn't have the pillows that I wanted out on the floor but I found them in a different color so a salesperson was able to look them up on the computer and retrieve a few of my preferred color from the back. Note to West Elm - you might sell more stuff if you have it out on the floor so your customers can see it. Overall, a pleasant shopping experience. read more

Placed an order on line for in store pick-up for about $1500.00. When I went to pick my order up the sales person was quite rude and not helpful at all. I was rather shocked as you would think that businesses would be all over their customers with good service these days. Not at West Elm Calgary. read more

I would never shop at this company again. All because their bad policy. We bought a dining table, in waiting for it to be delivered when the price dropped 30%. We can and asked for price adjustment. Nope! That's what we were told. We would have to return it, pay the shipping cost and reorder it. Weird policy. Ask every store, especially furniture store and you will have a more reasonable, customer-friendly policy. Too bad! We just started furnishing my daughter's condo and only bought a rug from them before this table. We only have ourselves to blame for assuming that if every other store has the policy they should have it too. Should have asked about price adjustment before making the purchase. Never again. I bought my daughter's Christmas gifts from this store and mailed them to her in Vancouver. They were stolen from her car immediately. I went back to try to replace them. Not only was i able to replace almost everything, the wonderful staff gave me a huge discount upon hearing what happened. I cant recommend this store and its lovely staff more! Very disappointing. I don't understand this store. First I tried to buy a duvet cover...she told me it was in stock and she would grab it. I said "great, I will run home and get my husband to check it out". When I came back, she went to look for it and reported "I can't find it, maybe it's in a box or something?" And that was it. I ordered a sectional from the Calgary store on Aug 30, 2015. I was told 4-6 weeks for delivery (which cost an extra $300). I (finally) received it yesterday (9 weeks later!). Only HALF of the sectional was delivered! I have tried calling the store OVER 30 TIMES and no one will answer. I tried calling the customer service line. They put me through to a Williams-Sonoma store, which was not particularly relevant. No one will provide me with an email address or an alternate name to contact. Meanwhile, I have spent over $2000; $300 of which was for delivery of HALF A SOFA. Seriously?! Worst. Customer. Service. EVER! read more

Love some of their stuff, but between their horrible customer service (Calgary store) and the fact that the prices, wait times, and items are different from the online store....skip the store and buy online. Its not worth the cold, rude customer service you get in store. Also, apparently the back-orders the store experiences....the website doesn't. I rarely reviews stores or services. Not my thing. However, my experience with West Elm has been so awful, I feel I must! I purchased a coffee table on September 1st. Loved it. Couldn't wait to put it in my living room. Was told 4-5 weeks maximum to receive. November 23rd and I have yet to receive my table. In fact, I have yet to hear from the store if I will ever receive my coffee table. Why? Because no one is capable of answering my questions. I have called the local store dozens of times. Over half of those times, no one has managed to answer the phone! The other times, I'm told to leave my information and someone will get back to me. No one does. Have asked for a manager. Never hear back/never on duty. Have called the Customer Support line from the website (surely, they can help me!), I'm told I have to go to the store. Go to the store, call the store...and we're back to square nowhere! The lack of organization and customer service is so beyond anything I have ever experienced. It is almost as if someone opened a business with literally no ability to actually run a store and less than no knowledge of good customer service! I will never set foot in this place again once I wrangle a refund out of this utter disaster of a store! read more

Such an amazing experience from West Elm Calgary. I bought a beautiful sectional and paid for delivery. I was promised 4 to 6 weeks for delivery. I got delivery with in that time frame. Delivery company was respectful of our house. They assembled and took all the cardboard! I heard some mixed reviews on the customer service. But I personally had such a wonderful memorable experience. Absolutely love the family vibe you get when visiting the store. Unfortunately the negative reviews came from friends and family who have never ordered custom furniture before. My sister ordered a lamp that had taken 8 weeks to come in. She was frustrated but happy with consistent communication. She had already heard from a friend (an associate) of West elm about the aggressive behaviour of most customers. Which isn't fair to a company that's brand new with what I am assuming comes with a lot of trial and error. Please be patient with west elm staff. A long winded review. But worth it for my new favourite store. read more
