With the price, we also got dance lessons which were a BIG help for our 1st dance! Starlina was so helpful and professional before and during the wedding! She made the whole wedding planning process so much easier. Choosing this venue for my big day was the best decision I made. When trying to pay for this venue, we hit some snags financially since I was in between jobs. I would call at least a week in advance to let her know if a payment would be delayed. (This only occurred twice) Even with the notice Starlina was very rude and not flexible at all. We tried to let that go, and we did. We did notice that she only seemed concerned after we paid. She was not friendly at all until she was paid in full. Then we wanted more dance lessons to show off. We forked out for those lessons too! When we realized our budget was getting out of hand we tried to reason with her. Now full disclosure here, yes in the venue contract it says no refunds. But here is our problem with that. We just let her know yesterday about our change in plans because of budget. Our wedding was not even going to be until October 2016 and we booked her in August of 2015. Well over a year in advance and we cancelled well in advance as well. She did not even want to do a refund even on the dance lessons, which no contract was ever signed saying we could not get our money back. (We only did 3 out of 10 lessons) What seemed so outrageous is that anytime we tried to schedule lessons, she was ALWAYS BOOKED!!! I would get off work at 5pm but we had our dances at 7:30pm. Then every time we talked to her or other customers it seemed she always had some kind of event going on almost all week! So we knew she had plenty of time to fill the day with another event and fill our unused lesson days with other people. The thing about all of this is that we were not even asking for all of it back, at the very least we only wanted half back. Plus, the 2 times I met her mother she would be rude to her in front of me. Be family and do what you do, but be professional in front of customers, no speaking down to your mother! Now she is mad about the review on Wedding wire and disputed it. Good luck because I will just do this every where else! Oh and before she tries to say she offered to help us with the dance lesson money back, she only did so after I told her I would post a review and let people know our experience! (I have the email to prove it!)

We were trying to plan a beautiful wedding for a military couple stationed in Japan. His family is from Greenville area. There were to be between 100-120 guest. The venue manager said the venue would hold 150 easily with no issues, as stated on the website. This is completely incorrect. The venue only has 10 sixty inch round tables for guests to be seated at and those tables only hold 8 comfortably. It seemed once they had a deposit then things started to change. The venue only had 50 chairs and we would have to rent an additional 60 as an extra charge. The entire function was cramped. We had 111 people confirmed and 6 no showed. So with 111 confirmed we had to have an 11th table that they did not have. They charged us to rent that extra table and chairs too. The venue was too small and should change their website. Another mis-truth on the website is that you have several choices of vendors. This is not true either, we were told that the caterer Southern way has exclusivity. They were more expensive than others we got menus from, so that was disappointing. The manager, Steve was rude and condescending at most times. Communication was difficult. On the day of set up, he used our muscle to help put together an Arbor that we had to pay $150 to rent for 30 mins. That's unbelievable to me that he has no employees to help him and that it wasn't included in the venue since it was in their photos online. It seemed there was an extra charge for many things, such as tablecloths. We were also charged for a security guard that was never there. At the end of the function, we had to tear it down and take the trash to the dumpster a block away. Really? Why would you rent a place that is this disorganized and includes nothing. It was a HUGE disappointment! Spend your money elsewhere. Ask lots of questions before you sign a contract. I believe this military couple was taken advantage of at contract signing because of the lies they were told. The Upper Room Greenville should be ashamed of themselves.

The only downfalls were the limited menu and that everyone's food came out at different times (even the desserts), which really extended the amount of time it took to have dinner.
