Because I was going to manage a LOT of moving parts to get this guy back to Oregon! Both Angie and J were so available and kind and took a lot of phone calls while I wrassled with how to get timid Lou home (in cabin, in baggage); in the end Angie brought Lou to OGG curbside when I flew over from O'ahu and nabbed him, navigated security (GREAT KINDNESS from TSA people) and hopped back to HNL to catch my mainland flight! Can't say enough about these kind people. Lou is a wonderful cat, he's doing great, five weeks along since he's had food, love and care -- he's a normal weight, glossy fur, happy as a clam and having his true kittenhood, now that he's safe and warm!! Dr Knee did a great job of explaining the possible reasons of my cat's problem ear, discussing options as well. He gave him a steroid shot and had his ears cleaned by the tech. What I really liked about him is he asked to first sit and discuss the issues before pulling my cat out of carrier. So many times at other veterinary places they often do all the talking while the cat is just sitting there on exam table acting nervous! I felt it was a very thorough exam and the pricing is about the same as other veterinarian offices. He was very personable and professional. I am glad to have found a new vet doctor for my cat. When I left the country for 2 weeks I boarded him at Wags n Wings after they were recommended to me by a friend. On the first day I got a call from Rya that Cloud was not acclimating to daycare. However she was able to coordinate with my vet to pick up medication to make Cloud's stay more comfortable. She even sent daily pictures and messages keep me updated on his status. After a few days went by Cloud had toned down on the crying and clawing at the walls and had even made some doggy friends. I went from constantly being worried to being able to enjoy my time abroad. Reservations can be made online and the staff are responsive if you have questions or need to make changes to your reservation. The dogs stay in kennels overnight and there is someone onsite 24/7, which gives you peace of mind. They also charge by night (versus by hour) which has made drop off and pick up very convenient, especially if you have schedule changes and need to adjust the drop off/pickup times. They also don't charge you until after the stay is complete and your pet is safely checked out, which I appreciate. I have heard that they can get busy at certain times through the year, so be sure to book your reservation in advance. They also close once a year during the first or so week in December, so do not travel at that time or you'll end up having to take your pet elsewhere like me :( lol I highly recommend Wags 'n' Wings for your pet's daycare/boarding needs. They are responsive, organized and genuinely care for your pets.

There is only one of her, and he has a lot of energy so this is understandable. However, her attitude and some of her training methods left me very concerned. My dog is terrified of everything. He is the type of Scooby-Doo dog who will leap in your arms if he hears a strange noise. He is also very weary of new people but has been socialized with other dogs under professional supervised settings his entire life, with no issue. Naturally when he first saw the owner he started to bark. Before I even had a chance to calm him down, she stated that he displayed "alpha" tendencies. This was within the first 30 seconds of meeting him. I attempted to explain that we have worked extensively with a trainer with a doctorate in animal psychology and that was not her assessment at all, but she ignored me, saying "he needs training." She then started talking about how he needs a bark collar. Admittedly these aren't shock collars, but between her use of the term "alpha", the discussion of a bark collar and her comment about "no treats" it suggests to me that her ideas of training are very different from mine. I prefer positive reinforcement, and tools like treats or toys the dog will enjoy, to inspire confidence and trust. Our dog did get to meet the other dogs, and aside from one time when he sharply barked once at another dog, and another time when he was starting to growl while initiating play (totally common in dogs, even Labradors) she freaked out. The owner proceeded to state blatant lies about how German Shepherds are the #1 biters (they're not, Chihuahuas are). As a person who has owned German Shepherds for over 30 years, I take great umbrage at her comments, not to mention that my current dog has no German Shepherd in him whatsoever. TLDR: If the owner didn't want to board our dog, that's fine. But to treat him like a red zone case ready to attack was not okay.

They both had fun training with Such Good Dogs previously so they are very relaxed with Athena. We totally trust Athena with our pups and our house so she has the code to access the property. The visit was right on time, our boys loved the attention, and Athena texted some lovely photos of the pooch party at our house. Peace of mind is a wonderful thing when you are at the other end of the island poochless. It meant we could relax and be worry free. Such Good Dogs is a West Maui wonder, everyone knows Athena as the local dog guru, if you want your dog to be in good hands with training, dog sitting, etc don't hesitate to contact her.
