Omg , this would have been nice, had it had some organization. I'm currently attending the River Days concert. The lines are ridiculously long , people walking up and cutting in the front of the line. Of course, an 1-1/2 hour behind schedule on performances. They had 3 different acts performing at the same time, so you could hear the music from the other performance. There were no signs telling you what area to go for the performance you wanted to attend. Be prepared to stand the entire time, if you didn't bring chairs. However, no great benefit if you did bring chairs, you couldn't see anyways , half the people were standing and blocking view to the stage. The ground ( grass) was soft and muddy. There were lots of food trucks, and the food was reasonably price . We ordered from the the Taste of Nawlins. The food was good and plentiful. The lines at the best food trucks were long, it was obvious where the good food was being served. There were a variety of food trucks to satisfy multiple taste buds. However, the concert venue wasn't as great. They did not have enough chairs for their star performance draw. We observed people stealing chairs from the other stages. It's almost 9:30 pm, the last performance Brandy was scheduled at 9:00 pm. We stood the entire concert.

Along the way, I passed murals, sculptures, Little Free Libraries, and plenty of benches--each inviting a pause. The path buzzed with life, yet still offered quiet moments beside the water. At Cullen Plaza, I gave in to laziness and grabbed a Lime scooter. Gliding along the wide, welcoming path, I passed buskers playing jazz and folk, their tunes drifting through the warm air. The Riverwalk's layout makes it easy to navigate, with clear signs and a friendly, open feel--like Detroit showing off its best side. I wrapped up at the Milliken State Park Lighthouse, a proud little beacon with Windsor's skyline just across the water. Jetskis circling on the Detroit River, families picnicked, and the sun above the RenCen was pure gold. Whether you stroll, scoot, or simply sit and soak it in, the Riverwalk delivers a soulful slice of Detroit summer. [Review 1003 of 2025 - 478 in Michigan - 24557 overall]

They were resurfaced about 3 years ago and still look brand new. But, that is because they are completely unplayable. Whoever resurfaced those courts left air pockets that substantially effect play on all four courts. If you are a 3.0 player or above I would recommend finding another place to play. The problem for us GP Park residents is that they converted the Patterson Park courts to Pickleball courts leaving us without a playable tennis court in all of GPP. It is crying shame that those managing a park system like ours cannot find a solution to this problem.

I still remember as a kid swimming around the adult pool when it wasn't adult time and watching this bigger guy we all lovingly called Boblo boat swim around the perimeter of the pool by using his hands as wheel to pedal around the pool and do his laps. It was also the first time I saw the fool horror of the red Speedo from the slicked backer tall guy that would walk around proudly by the pool, only taking a dip to cool off some. This is where I took my tennis lessons as a kid. This is where I learned to fish over by the harbor piers. They have improved the community center and it's now a nice Tompkin's center and a great communal spot to watch movies. It's great for renting for parties and gatherings. I don't live in GPP any more but I have many friends that still do and thus I still am able to visit this wonderful park that holds so many fond childhood memories for me.
