This MSK location is a convenient one due to being nearby the 6, E, and F trains. This building contains lots of different services such as Gynecology, Gastrointestinal, Port Labs, and Chemotherapy (Infusion). There are 11 floors in total and the elevators here come relatively quick. It is certainly a busy location. There will and may be times where you are waiting a while to be seen based on the type of appointment that you have as well as the time your appointment is scheduled for. Pack your patience when coming here but it is worth the wait. The quality of care is great here because the clinicians here are genuine, empathetic, and professional. I would recommend anyone who is in need of Cancer Care to come here for treatment, etc. especially if you want an alternative for the Main Campus or KOCH locations. read more

This is one of MSK's bigger locations and it encompasses a variety of services within one building, including medical consultations, blood work labs, chemotherapy, and radiology. It is likely that you will spend the full day here, which on a good day will mean 1-2 hours behind schedule and on a bad day will mean waiting in between your services for up to 4 hours. The chemotherapy is usually overbooked and the treatment rooms are quite cramped and only partitioned by curtains. It's not my favorite place but it gets the job done and the nurses are always very kind and make sure you get enough warm blankets. My friend is undergoing chemotherapy after recent diagnosis and surgery. While the staff here is very good, I have a few complaints and have learned a lot about the process of treatment, which can be daunting. First, this is one of the best facilities in the city, if not in the country or the world. The staff's expertise is unmatched and the nurses, counselors, and other staff have been professional and kind and patient. The only thing holding back from 5 stars (they are really 4 1/2 stars) are some of the caveats: 1. It is difficult to initially been seen by a doctor and set up for treatment. There was such a morass of paperwork, calls, and referrals needed that it was becoming frustrating - which must be hard for someone going through the experience of having cancer, you definitely need someone to help navigate the process. 2. MSK is a sprawling enterprise. Many know of the main building on 68th and York, but they have numerous locations and auxiliary sites (such add this one). The only frustrating thing is my friend has to go to different sites for different aspects of treatment, one place for chemo, one place for other meds she takes, another place for social work, another place for counseling. Is there a way to integrate the disciplines at each clinical site? However, the buildings are amazing and it is the care which matters most. A peeve is that most of the elevators do not work! They are undergoing renovation and the wait to go upstairs is long! The waiting areas are nice and they try to make family and patients comfortable while waiting.The take home lesson is to be vigilant and determined to seek the best care possible for yourself or a loved one. I have to say that this hospital is one of the cleanest most secured most friendliest most organized hospital that I've ever been in it's extremely comfortable for patients as well as relatives they are to the point with their work the nurses are extremely nice very quiet on the lounge floor very comfortable . This place is an absolute hell. It's the waiting room of misery and death. Patients are kept waiting for hours. A typical day for us was blood drawer at 10:30 Dr appointment at 2:00. If we got to see the doctor by 5:30 it was a good day. He spent exactly 4 minutes with us each time. Never seemed to get the chemo order in and when it was put in you have to wait for it to be mixed. Then if you are very lucky they just may have a chemo suite for you. We started out at 9AM and if we were very lucky we might be home by 10 or 11 PM Dr. Overworked didn't give a damn KILLED MY HUSBAND . Sold us a big time bill of goods. Told us he could treat my husbands rare cancer as a chronic disease. He had plans A B C D E etc His big plans???? Two chemo regimens that didn't work and by the time this idiot figured it out, after thousands and thousands of dollars in tests my husband was terminal and passed away two weeks later. He was too weak and sick for all those plans which I'm sure didn't exist. When I asked why the chemo didn't work I got a half assed answer about DNA and he seemed annoyed I would even ask. Probably annoyed because he is clueless The cancer business/ industry is a money making machine AND THATS IT. It is pharmaceuticallly driven and they only care about the almighty dollar What have they done with all the trillions and trillions of dollars and all the research? Absolutely nothing. They are still in the dark ages. I urge anyone reading this to NEVER EVER donate to any cancer related Industry/charity. Your money is going into a big black hole and they are no more ahead of this disease than they were 90+ years ago. The chemo my husband got. One of the drugs is 90 + years old. Platinum based. Basically they are treating you with heavy metal poisoning DISGUSTING ON EVERY LEVEL. THEY DO NOT WANT TO CURE THIS DISEASE EVER. BIGGEST MEDICAL MONEY MAKER OUT THERE. This is a long post for anyone who is interested in reading, but a summary for the experience here would be the Doctor was a complete dick. This is a warning to everyone who is looking to seek treatment at Sloan Kettering Hospital. Like someone else who eloquently put here "expect treatment, not care." Having received a devastating news of cancer recurrence a family member, The doctor refused to provide any professional and medical advice when we asked questions such as what type of medication would be used and which options and sequence of the treatment. Every MD who works here has the credentials they need to help. However, I did not find that to be true with the doctor I met. When the doctor promised to call back, she never followed up even after 4 months past the initial consultation. Patient were left feeling like the illness is too advanced, rare, and difficult for treatment. We were all devastated, disheartened, and extremely upset by what the doctor said. Either the doctor was afraid of lawsuits for saying the "wrong things" or she is extremely incompetent which she should not be there either way. Whenever I call her office, her assistant would always tell me she's on vacation and wouldn't be back for at least couple weeks. I have never dealt with another doctor who is more incompetent and heartless. I suggest anyone who is seeking treatment look elsewhere. Find a doctor who actually cares and takes the time to understand your medical condition, not someone who became a doctor to get rich and enjoy nice long vacations. read more

I hate that I had to review this hospital because I had never imagined to take a loved one there where we're only 30, but I did go and a review is due. If there is a 6/5 starts they deserve one, starting with the environment, the establishment is very clean, updated and everyone was super friendly. We saw a fellow Dr. at first and he was extremely nice, supporting and super optimistic, he understood the terrible time we're having trying to cope with this bad news, we then saw Dr. Stadler who seems to be an expert with cases similar to ours (young/fit & healthy with cancer). She was also extremely nice, very very optimistic, supporting and responsive. She took her time explaining every little detail on the diagnoses, treatment options & prognoses, she also asked for permission to get all slides, samples, reports and scans to run some more testing and genetic testing. (We left her room absolutely feeling much much better than we walked in). A nurse came in and gave us couple of shots one being flu shot, took some info and wrote us some instruction, showed us what is expected and involved in the treatment, she too was super nice and very supportive. In sum, we stepped in Sloan Kettering feeling this is a very dimmed situation, but left feeling we are in good hands and we are going to have the support fighting this. I would recommend this to anyone who is unfortunate to have to fight cancer, because they will support you with your fight, they won't say your just a statistic and that all they can do is give you the same Regime that's been around for 30 years. read more

Sloan Kettering is one of the best places to get treated for Cancer. They have a few locations and this particular building is where I always go for the check up portion of your visit. I always go here for any X Rays, MRI's, ultrasounds, etc. you might have to go to different floors but everything is in the same building. One of the great things that I've noticed is the communication of information from each department. I had two appointments in this building today. An X Ray at 10:45 am and an ultrasound at 11:00 am. I ran a little late today and didn't get to my first appointment until 11 am. As soon as I checked in, they notified my second appointment that I would be late. By 12:30 pm, my doctor's office had the results of both. Amazing. The politeness and friendliness of the entire staff to me is mind blowing. The receptionists, the techs, the security guards, everyone. Everyone I've ever encountered has been very friendly and polite. They are a block away from the 51st and Lexington Ave stop which has the 6 and E train. read more

INCREDIBLE, FANTASTIC, CARING, FANTASTIC My Scarsdale Medical internist referred us to MSKCC. They CURED my wife's lymphoma and they CURED my multiple myeloma, We have dealt with several teams there: chemo for her in NY and me at their West Harrison facility. The lymphoma team provided great caring care. The multiple meloma group has taken care of me for 3 years. Dr. Hani Hassoun is the best internist/oncologist I have ever had. Sometimes you may need to wait for a chemo treatment. They are busy. Sometimes the Dr. runs late (about 1 in 20 times). I will wait patiently for the cancer CURE (they gave me). Bring something to read. In 50+ visits we NEVER had a bad visit. Their staff is incredible: caring, compassionate, they have the time to deal with you, evaluate, help, and cure. My brother was going here for two and a half years his doctor's name was kenith You this man was terrible and very cold he spent less then 5 minutes in his room every time I took him to get chemo he never had answer's to any of our questions the week before he passed away he was home and in alot of pain I called several times on Monday to try to get him pain medicine I get a call on Tuesday from one of his assistants I threatened to make a complaint against Dr you if he doesn't call me later on that day he calls me he tells me he will call in a prescription for my brother and if he is still in pain to call him the next day he was still in alot of pain I called numerous times and not until Friday late afternoon I get though to his assistant Kelly she tells me she called me four times and left four voicemails I asked what number did you call and she said she called me I asked her tell me the number it was mine she lied she never called me and when I asked her why she didn't call my brothers line she said that she didn't wanna bother him because of his condition I asked her to call in a higher pain medicine she told me to double up on what he has now later on I had to call a ambulance they took him to NYU in Brooklyn I checked him in the next day I was bringing him some things from his house I receive a call from the hospital and they told me he passed away I couldn't stop crying I lost my older brother the following Friday I get a call on my brother's phone and it was Kelly the same person who said she called me four times and really didn't I told her my brother passed away last week and said to her I believe in karma and one day when somebody you love is in alot of pain and your doctor doesn't call you back and I hung up the phone almost 3 months go by and Dr you never called me to give me his condolences he saw this man for two and a half years and I had to call him to ask him why he never called he then says to me on the phone it is what it is he had cancer WOW that was cold what a piece of shit read more

6 Years ago a spot on my lung "Melanoma" a deadly disease was discovered. The surgeons removed it. No Chemo, no radiation. Sent home the next day. Care in this hospital is always excellent and everyone must be chosen for a happy yet concerned attitude. No matter how serious the issue there is always a smile on their face to put you at ease. I have just completed my 6th year cancer free and I know if future issues arise this will be my first and only choice for care. Dr. Mark Dickson has always been cheerful and happy to see me as well as his staff. A real credit to this Hospital. Dr. Jennifer DeFazio (dermatology) of the Hauppauge site was the doctor who made the early diagnosis from a routine cat scan for skin cancer. And her staff is always cheerful. I am so incredibly moved by the excellent services provided by a team of Sloan Cancer Center staffs that I not only want to thank them but let the world know how wonderful they are, and highly recommend them to anyone who unfortunately has to seek cancer treatment. My brother-in-law, who lives in Hong Kong has lung cancer and his condition rapidly deteriorate recently. His family is at cross roads looking for direction and strategy of effective treatment. They want to get a second opinion from Sloan but were hesitating due to 12-hours of time difference, language barrier, and unfamiliarity with the US healthcare system. Krystal Cheng, Sloan's Guest Services Assistant at The Bobst International Center, stepped in and immediately erased all of their concerns. She speaks excellent Chinese, is very knowledgeable of the patient registration process and responds any question within 1 - 2 hours. She quickly helped my niece setup an account and submitted a large volume of medical history through the web portal. Due to the urgent nature of my brother-in-law's medical condition, his family requested Sloan for an expedited service, as oppose to the normal 5 - 7 business days. Krystal and a team of Sloan doctors made it happen in 24-hours! We can't be more impressed and thankful of their efforts. The diagnosis and recommendations provided by Dr. Matthew Hellmann is over and above my expectation. It is clear, concise and comprehensive. We gained much confidence in how to deal with the ongoing and future medical treatments. Sloan's consulting fee is extremely fair. The team of doctors decided the radiology and pathology reports provided by Hong Kong were adequate and didn't need additional review, so they did not charge us. It is unheard of in this day and age where repeated tests and analysis are the name of game in making money. Overall, the team of doctors and support staffs at Sloan did a fantastic job in providing lung cancer consulting to my family. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts. read more

Sloan Kettering, Oncologist,Dr. Elizabeth Comen, met with me today, nearly a month since my 9/3/2014 Breast Cancer Surgery. I had a lumpectomy sentinel node and will have radiation treatment. Dr. Comen was truly very sensitive and broke down my cancer in layman's terms. I ask a lot of questions, because I want to know my status and condition. Dr. Comen, a very young lady, answered all my questions and made sure I understood everything. Because my breast cancer had not spread to my lymph nodes and because of my age, I am 63 years old, she recommended medication, Anastrozi-Anastrozolev 1 tablet everyday for quite a while. That is because my cancer is estrogen fueled and tablet will kill the estrogen. She said it was up to me to undergo chemotherapy, but she did not recommend it, because the risks outweigh the benefits. I will be undergoing radiation starting 10/20/. Dr. Comen is approachable, you can ask her questions, she will answer them. She is very informative, pleasant, looks very nice as well. I would recommend Dr. Elizabeth Comen for someone looking for an oncologist, based on my personal experience with her. read more

Expect coercion and manipulation based on your fears. Expect dismissive sighs, and eye rolling when you attempt to understand the statistics underlying the proposed treatment. Expect no discussion of options. Expect mountains of bureaucratic nonsense. Expect an abnormal interest in your religious preference. I applaud memorial Sloan Kettering staff for their exemplary patient care. I had surgery for removal of a tumor in my kidney April 2016. I am very satisfied with the care that I received before during and after the surgery. Doctor Jonathan Coleman was my surgeon and he has a terrific bedside manner. after having a exceptionally long wait for ct scan it was so nice to leave with a good feeling from one of your employes..my wife and I were running late to catch a ferry back to nj. From our first visit the staff is so kind and professional. They have a way to addressing your needs and comforting you in a process that has me speechless.
