It's fairly large and has 2 entrances to access it, so you can't miss it! ~ Variety: The actual store itself aside, WHSmith also houses the local post office. Whenever I'm in need of heading to the post office to mail something off, I always end up wandering around this massive store just for a bit of a browse. And there's plenty to browse from whether you're into books, board games, or even stationary. When it comes to books specifically, there is definitely a lot here. I've bought more than my share of Christmas presents from here before for the kids and adults; a beginner's guide to Minecraft, a Pokemon stickerbook, and a few cookbooks as well. It's probably cheating, but WHSmith makes Christmas shopping a breeze because I often come through for some inspiration on what to purchase as gifts with how much they have on offer. --- I do like WHSmith, but this WHSmith in particular is just plain awesome. A wide array of newspapers and magazines, from your broadsheets to your red tops, the usually selection of snacks you would expect to find, and a full drinks cabinet. There is also the friendly service that comes accustomed with most newsagents. I walked in and the chappy behind the counter said " Bloody wet aint it" and I responded with "I know, tell me about it" (While shaking of rain from my coat) There you have it, a brief exchange and we now have a friendly bond, and I feel like he is a mate of mine (granted one who doesn't say much and sells me things... and come to think of it never visits, but still a mate).

Their magazine selection is superb - obscure titles, of course lots of porn, and all filed close together so its almost like a jumble sale. I like this - it makes you feel like you've discovered a magazine rather than like WHSmith where they have 20 neatly piled up in your face (with the free CD missing). They also have a good selection of chocolate, most noteably Freddos. Possibly the finest of all the supposed-to-be-for-children chocolates. Staff are on the ball and polite!

The entire back of the shop is full of cards and wrapping paper/ribbons for any occasion. They also have a range of children's toys and seasonal items. Not only do they have the expected range of sweets, they have a few shelves filled with large jars of old-fashioned sweets. One can also purchase cold drinks and ice creams. It's a popular stop for the lottery range of tickets too. The owners and staff are friendly and welcoming.

With lots of local ads on the dorr you can find some pretty peculiar things as well as some local business, and maybe even some work if your lucky!

As a child I always wanted to live in a Windmill - this can only be explained because of my pure obsession with Jonathan Creek, I still have a massive crush on Alan Davies - I can only bow down to the BBC for continuously putting him on our screens in QI. I would not however like to live in this Windmill, unless I was allowed to constantly eat my own weight in Curly Wurly's and After Eights. A good newsagents, nothing special, but a great name.

As if they've followed the recommend guidelines on building a newsagent, they tick all the boxes. Newspapers and magazines are displayed clearly, with kid's comics nearer the floor and the sweets. After the sweets you have the chocolates then the crisps and sandwiches. There are a few knick knacks that make them separate to the rest scattered about but mostly it's pretty standard. This shop's diamond is from the outside; the windows covered in signs and adverts for local businesses and services. Some are a little outdated but it's well worth the hunt!

Although this chemist is not a large outlet it still manages to carry a fair amount of stock. All of the essentials are well covered and there's a good range of toiletries and cosmetics too. The pharmacists are really helpful if you are feeling under the weather and are unsure what to buy to ease your symptoms. There's a sign in the window stating that all children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult before entering the shop. Presumably they have had some problems with shoplifting in the past...? It's little reminders like these that never let you forget that you are in Splott, despite the fact that most days go by without any trouble at all.

And at a fraction of the supermarket price. The most handy item I've bought here is 8 Litre storage boxes at just £4 each which were an absolute lifesaver when I moved house. I am a fan of stores like this, more so of the smaller versions, but with each one you walk inside with that sense of the unknown, you could come accross anything within 4 seconds of stepping inside... what an adventure!
