It's very clean, and although it's primarily run by volunteers (many of them retired), everyone we met was incredibly kind and welcoming. My son especially enjoyed riding the trolleys; they offer both a longer ride and a shorter one, and he loved both. There's also a large area with more than twenty different trolley cars to explore. We ended up going through them three times! He also spent a good amount of time playing with the wooden train toys, which was a big hit. Overall, it was a fantastic 2-hour visit for our family. The only thing I wish they had is a small café or snack area.

First opened it's doors in 1904, this means it is 115 yrs old this year. The longest running, operating theater in West Virginia. This 800 seat Victorian Masterpiece is Registered a Historic Landmark In 1934, it became home to the Jamboree which is the 2nd longest running show in the USA. It's Beaux-arts influence in architecture is stunning. I waa so happy to stumble across this beauty.

I would not call this place a museum in the same sense as the Pittsburgh Children's Museum. I believe the name is misleading and it should be called a play space. As a play space this place would get 4 stars but as a museum it would get one star. I averaged that and gave it 3 stars for affordability. The place is basically one big room but it has some walls to divide the space up a little. They have animal alley with a tarantula, fish, lizard, turtle, and a snake. They have a climbing wall, craft area, chalkboard, train table, and a sand table. One of the cooler stations is the lego station as they have a good collection of lego parts. They also have a station with an Ipad attached where one can video tape their actions and replay them. They have the bigger lego blocks in some small bins. They have the blue imagination blocks for constructing as well. My kids the loved the dress-up outcove the most as they have a kitchen and numerous outfits to put on. They have a small house type structure to climb steps. My 3 year old walked up it and was disappointed to not see a slide. All in all this place is a decent place to play on rainy or cold days. It is open enough to let the kids run around while one relaxes a little. Bring your own food and drink. There is a hot dog stand across the street and a restaurant on the corner. If you are traveling and need a place for kids to run around and be engaged then this place is better than the playspace at Burger King in St. Clairesville.

It doesn't really stand out amongst the other houses in this mostly residential area. To be honest, I wouldn't have known (or cared) about it either, but every Christmas the choir had a concert outside of here. Hey, they gave us hot chocolate. Yum. I don't really remember anything about the Sedgwick House Museum, or its historical significance, or what's inside, but I like adding places in the Valley to Yelp for when other Yelpers are forced to end up there. Oh, and it's only $3. Might as well check it out :)

There are 26 rooms (kind of....one is a closet, but back in the era it was built, even closets were counted). I loved the "courting fireplace", where whispered conversations happened, to be kept private from the chaperones. The copper door hinges, the winged griffin, the ornate woodwork. Everything here is just stunning. Even the basement is fascinating with some interesting treasures and curiosities. Wayne was kind enough to give me an extensive tour of the home and I absolutely love the way they decorated for Christmas. I will keep a close eye on the facebook page and undoubtedly be back again (but with my family next time) for another event.
