I was in a few shows when I lived here and I saw many more - always enjoyable productions. There's usually a show every 1-2 months. If you're interested in theatre, you'll definitely want to see or audition for a show at Towngate, part of the Oglebay Institute. They do a fair mix of shows-everyone-has-heard-of, obscure stuffs and original work.

I might have had tea, but they only offer Lipton tea bags. Towngate is trying to raise funds for repairs on their building, so I know they can't spend an arm and a leg on refreshments. However, I wonder if they could get some donations from one of the local coffee shops, sell the beverage for more, and raise more funds. All in all, still looking forward to seeing more movies there, and I will still order a coffee (maybe two).

There are 2 urinals, and at least one is always broken or missing. There are 3 toilets and there is at least one that's out of commission every visit to this theatre. We have been this theatre twice this month and they still have no ice for the drinks. Nothing ever gets fixed at this theatre. There are usually 4 to 5 people working behind the counter but still only one line open to sell tickets and concessions. I cost me $31.00 for 2 matinee tickets and concessions way more than a streaming service for a month. I enjoy going to the movie theatre once in a while but at these prices and the overall experience at this theatre are not worth it.

This was an evening showing, mind you, and the total price was still only $30. We'd pay that price for two tickets alone in the other theatre we typically frequent. This auditorium was large, seat yourself, plenty of low lighting. We sat in the last row and still had a perfect view and good sound. The building is a little dated both inside and outside, but the chair was comfortable enough for an hour and a half movie. I'm sure we'll be back for another movie in the future.

When I was there, the floors were very sticky, the sound was all loud treble and some of the seats were completely broken, but still there to be used. They didn't even turn the lights on to leave when the movie was over. It's convenient if you live in the area and can't drive to Robinson Township, but I would suggest driving the extra 20 minutes and going to Cinemark if you can. My total cost for admittance, popcorn and a drink was around a dollar cheaper than Cinemark without any member discounts.

First opened it's doors in 1904, this means it is 115 yrs old this year. The longest running, operating theater in West Virginia. This 800 seat Victorian Masterpiece is Registered a Historic Landmark In 1934, it became home to the Jamboree which is the 2nd longest running show in the USA. It's Beaux-arts influence in architecture is stunning. I waa so happy to stumble across this beauty.

(not that I discriminate against corn fields or anything).... and it smelled like I was WAAAAAY OUT in the country next to a corn field and barn. Anyway... This was a smaller drive in with 2 screens. This one has nice grass and one concession stand with stinky bathrooms. There weren't a lot of people there when I was there. I tried some of their food ( fries, fried mushrooms, corn dog, cheeseburger) but only liked the corn dog. I guess if your in the area with nothing to do its ok.
