The hotel in general is nice and great location, but the wifi is AWFUL. For anyone out of country we rely on wifi so our data plans don't sky rocket but I have more issues here then anywhere else , the wifi is constantly kicking you off bouncing on and off. For the price of the rooms per night I'd at least expect as good as wifi as the pub down the street read more

I'm a regular traveler to Dublin, and have stayed in many of the best hotels. Not sure why this year I finally decided to try the Westbury but we did. Called the week before arrival and had a nice chat with (Gavin?) about our room. Checked in efficiently (important when you've flown from the West Coast of California, it's a long way) and up to the room. Nice, of course, and we looked out onto the front of the hotel, which is a lovely street. I think they were double-paned windows because much (not all) of the outside street noise was buffered. Clean bathroom, clean sheets -- but stupidly, only one luggage rack (WHY hotels, WHY?). We decided to just eat at the fine dining restaurant WILDE that night and wow was it AMAZING. From the service to the appetizers to the entree's it literally was perfection. Bravo! We had several drinks and tea, etc., in the main room off the lobby during our 3 days and that too was delightful, if not really expensive (so just know what you're getting yourself into should you dine there, or even order tea.) Service was exceptional, again. Balfe's was a true disappointment -- the service was terrible...we went in there twice for morning food/coffee and there's a lot of staff, but they aren't there to serve tables. Ugh! Let's end on a high note though -- SIDECAR, is such a great bar! And the bartenders -- I feel like I've known them my whole life. Upbeat, very skilled, super friendly -- I had so much fun at Sidecar, it's a reason to return to this hotel as a guest. read more

I booked a deluxe room for my mothers 70th. As we entered the hotel the staff set the tone which was one of warmth and sincerity. The room was upgraded and checkin was swift. The room was large albeit proportionally the bathroom could have been bigger. The view was facing the front of the hotel and certainly no noise (3rd floor). Breakfast was served with he same flair and certainly you won't leave hungry and the setting in Wilde is bright and airy. Yes it is expensive but as long as the hotel hits your expectations and in this case exceeds then it is worth it. read more

We were thrilled to arrive at The Westbury and were met with enthusiastic, helpful bellmen. We were welcomed with opened arms and led to the front desk where we were greeted by an exceptionally professional staff. Our advisor at the desk was informative and efficient. She took the time to get to know us, knowing we were exhausted from our trip and she still managed to make us feel like she welcomed us into her own home. We were led over to the concierge desk where the gentleman took the time to book our visit to the Guinness factory and Kilmainham Gaol prison. (The prison is a MUST see if you visit Ireland so look for my review!). Everything at the front desk and concierge was seamless and we were given our keys to our rooms. We had three rooms booked and all three were near each other which we appreciated very much. The rooms are beautiful, well appointed and clean! We loved the turn down service and the replacement of towels in the middle of the day. I love fresh towels daily and cringe when it is expected that we reuse a towel. There is a well stocked mini fridge and chocolates, fresh fruit, and water bottles are left each day. The location is central to everything in Dublin and couldn't be more convenient. Breakfast was included in our package and we appreciated the vast assortment of cheeses, juices, bakery items, cereals, and the ability to order eggs, pancakes, etc which was all included in the price. The staff is attentive and caters to every request without question. This hotel was our absolute favorite on our trip to Ireland. I wish all the hotels we visited were this exceptional! read more

We loved the Westbury. I never say anything interesting about hotels, but about this one, I shall. Alright, the easy stuff: the room and the bed were great! I wasn't super in love with the bathroom, til we got to London, and then I realized I should've counted some chickens. The design of the foyer/lobby/dramatic staircase etc is just short of breathtaking. Lush carpeting, marble, gold and glass fill every inch of the frame, and the service at the desk is top knotch. We stayed on the 2nd floor, so the huge carpeted staircase was my vertigo's bestfriend, and I never felt funny for second (until London, ugghhh). The afternoon tea was AMAZING!!! I love a great 3star, frou frou restaurant, where I have to dress funny, and wine pairings imply a level of knowledge I'll never attain. However, I was quite reticent about the whole afternoon tea biz. It's just a little too white, a little too bougie - I thought. No, it's not my scene, but Man is it awesome! The sandwiches, sweets and teas were amazing, and yes, it feels pretty good to be waited on like royalty. And that's how everything feels at the Westbury. The bar, the room service, the bellhops... everyone in this joint is working at optimum efficiency, and provides maximum comfort to each guest. Bravo! read more

I've been to the Westbury twice lately. The first time was for afternoon tea, which is served frp, 3 til 5.30. They don't take bookings so you have to show up and take your chances. A standard afternoon tea is 25 euro which is actually on the cheaper end of the scale for comparable hotels in Dublin. For this you get limitless tea and coffee and a three tiered stand of goodies. When it arrives you find yourself thinking - I'll still be hungry after that - but all four of us found it difficult to munch through all the little sandwiches, scones and cakes and to our shame ended up leaving a fair bit of cake behind. The lounge is a nice place to relax and chat it and it's really warm as I found on my more recent visit. Just met a friend there for a bit of grub and a catch-up chat. Service was quite slow but that seems to be the way in hotel lounges and it suited us to have plenty of time to chat. The food is pretty good and while it's not cheap it's not astronomical. Definitely a nice place to relax away from the nearby hustle and bustle read more

More like a 4.75 star.. One of the biggest problems I had was driving here. You have to go a very particular way, and the roads to get there are very hard to drive through since it's riddled with pedestrians. I was traveling from overseas here and was put on hold when I called for advice to get to the hotel. The minutes went by and my phone bill was hurting. Besides that everyone was pleasant and helpful. With my mishap out of the way I'll say this, the Westbury knows how to take care of it's guests. I just got engaged to my girlfriend the day before our stay and it happened to be her birthday the day we check in. When we got in our room we were sent sweets on plates with "Congratulations" and "Happy birthday" written on them, as well as two glasses of champagne. You'd be surprised how happy this could make a couple. The hotel staff was amazing across the board. From the valet, to concierge, to the front desk, to the bag clerk.. all super nice and genuine. We had a problem with wifi, and within 20 minutes it was fixed. The only reason it took even that long was that the router in our hall had crapped out and was replaced that quickly! The room was nice, bed comfy and the shower warm. The location of the hotel was THE BEST. We were in walking distance to what felt like everything you'd want to do in Dublin. My only gripes are that for the amount you spend on a room, you wouldn't be hit as hard with all the other extraneous expenses a hotel has. For example parking was so expensive, and there wasn't even the option of self parking. Great hotel, definitely treat yourself and book a night here and relax and know that you'll be taken care of. read more

Throuougly enjoyed our stay. Great hotel with a central location. Walking distance to anything one would want to do in central Dublin. Attentive and delightful staff that aims to please. Downsides: A) tiny, rather sad little gym (they do ensure fresh fruits and water), but they partner with a local gym for 10 euro day passes. B) Sodium flood lights that lights up some of the rooms. Close the black out shades. C) narrow showers. Tip: there are two third wave coffee houses down the street. Coffee Angel and Dublin Barista School. This is an old and out of date review but it's for a hotel which isn't likely to change much, so I hope no one minds. I stayed at The Westbury on a business trip in 2003, and it was certainly one of the highlights of the trip. My colleague, who is an American of Irish descent, was in Ireland for the first time and was "welcomed home" like a member of the family. Everything about the hotel was excellent. It was big, clean, friendly, and centrally located. I still think about this hotel. It was not cheap (and six years later the price would be irrelevant), but it was significantly less expensive than the Clarence. I look forward to my next trip to Dublin and I plan to stay at The Westbury if I can. There are a seemingly endless assortment of good restaurants nearby, but I will not review them because it's been too long to review a restaurant. I gladly review this hotel however, and suspect that it will probably be incredible twenty years from now. I look forward to reading the other reviews in order to verify that the hotel continues to be magnificent. And finally, I'd like to say now nice it is to see Yelp in Ireland. After a year of local reviews, this will make me want to return even more. read more

This is a really wonderful hotel in a great location in Dublin. The service is spectacular. First, I had a few issues in my room, but all were resolved the next day with a note detailing their attention to each issue. When I checked out, I actually overslept for my flight but the hotel came to my room to ensure I was awake, then had my bill and taxi waiting for me. Just above and beyond service! The hotel has a range of bars and restaurants. The Sidecar lounge has the most amazing drinks and service, plus great food too! Balfes is also great for an afternoon or evening drink. Rooms are comfortable with solid décor and amenities like a Nespresso maker. The only negative (beyond the minor issues I experienced in the room) is that the gym is literally the size of a hotel room and only open at 7am with some exception if you request it earlier and no one is staying next door! Ideally they would invest in a legit gym at the hotel. read more

Yes, the street view is especially nice if you have a window seat. Yes, the chairs are gorgeous and comfortable. Yes, an American is 5.35... Screeching Halt! Beautiful spot to toss that extra Euro burning a hole in your pocket and worth it if you're willing to do just that. But, I recommend brewing your own cup at home and then heading over there to sit on one of the paddes benches on the perimeter of the lounge to take in the lovely view of the room. Just off Grafton Street this is a five star Jury's owned hotel that has been around for ever! It is where all the stars use to stay before all the other new modern hotels were built. The rooms are really spacious and the bathrooms are lovely and stock Aveda products. The beds are really comfy and use the best linens and bedding from Brown Thomas. I stayed at the Westbury for five days on business and found it to be pleasant, charming, and having some of the best coffee in Dublin. I hosted meetings at the hotel with my company and do not have enough good things to say about the events and banquet staff here. They were extremely attentive and very helpful the entire time. I love the lobby bar area-it's a great place to grab a coffee, tea, or cocktail depending upon the time of day. The breakfast was included with our rooms and offered an extensive array of options each morning. While the common areas were well appointed and impressive, the rooms were a bit lackluster in my opinion. The hotel itself is not all that new and decorated in a very traditional way- which did not enhance the lack of modernity in the guest rooms. I found the furnishings to be just plain "old" instead of "antique" and the room was never that clean in my opinion; but got the job done and I didn't come back with any strange rashes or allergic reactions. The other point of contention I had with the Westbury was the "fitness center", or lack thereof. This center was literally a hotel room converted to a "gym" with wood floor, one very old treadmill, bike, and home gym set up. This room opened up at 7am which is ludicrously late to be working out if your meetings start at 8am as mine did. The hotel would be better off not advertising this fitness center and giving guests passes to a nearby athletic club. Let's just say you should expect to workout with a run outside duding your stay at the Westbury. That being said- the location of the hotel is top notch. Right on Grafton Street you are in a gorgeous and quaint area of Dublin and central to everything you could want. I think there are comparable hotels in Dublin (The Shelbourne and The Merrion) but I did enjoy the Westbury and would probably stay there again, but would check into the aforementioned counterparts as well. read more

Glam or what!! I was invited to a work event in "The Marble Bar", the bar is stunning, classy and comfortable! We were served mini h'oderves of pawns, smoked salmon, mushroom and rice balls, with lemon meringue and chocolate brownies!! The food was scrumptious and very morish! All washed down with exquisite champers and cocktails. The staff were very helpful and ensured our glasses were never empty for too long. I love the fact that this hotel is decorated in extremely modern and contemporary but still old school in manor-isms and making you feel welcome! A classy joint!! read more

Perfect location!!! We stayed at the Westbury Hotel for a few days at the end of August. We read that this hotel was in a great location, but were absolutely shocked at just how perfect the location was! We walked to everything and only took a cab to and from the airport. The hotel itself is gorgeous and the hotel staff is beyond friendly. One weird thing that happened (no fault of the hotel) was our room looked out onto the store room of the store across the steet. My first night there I had jetlag and woke up at like 3 am. I was just gazing out the window when I thought I saw someone sitting in a window staring at me...they simply would not stop!!! As the sun came up, I realized it was a mannequin from the store! So, just be warned of the headless mannequins!!! The Marble Bar was beautiful and the bartenders were so friendly. I wish I could remember their names, but all I can remember is the girl was from Austria the guy was from Poland. They were so wonderful and deserve some recognition. We ate breakfast twice and the food was very good and filling. Just a warning, though, we don't drink coffee or tea. One morning I ordered a soda water (just one) thinking they would just charge me for that, but they applied the coffee/tea/juice fee of EUR8.50. That was one expensive soda water!!! Also, that morning, we paid our bill at the table, but then discovered it had also been billed to our room. The hotel quickly rectified that and without any incident. I would highly recommend the Westbury Hotel to anyone visiting Dublin! If we return, this is where we will be staying for sure. read more

Solid hotel in a great location. Every single employee we came across was incredibly nice and tried to be helpful. Unfortunately, there were a few instances where they either didn't follow up or got it pretty wrong. Nothing that was painful, nothing malicious just a bit of a gap between intentions and execution. Our room was lovely, we upgraded to the smallest suite and I think that made a big difference. Excellent hotel right in the heart of Dublin. We stayed for three nights and we were made to feel at home the whole time. Upon check-in the staff were very friendly and were nice enough to give us a room with an excellent view of Grafton street. The rooms, while not gigantic, were very well-appointed and had everything we needed. Only thing I could complain about was the wifi. Had a lovely stay here in Dublin! This place was great. The staff was friendly all around and constantly checking to make sure we were taken care of. Sean at the front consistently gave us tips and was always greeting us. The location is ideal and walking distance from almost all of the major attractions as well as many pubs and restaurants and a huge shipping center. The rooms are only so so. The water pressure is poor in the shower and the bed shakes easily but I would highly recommend this place to anyone! read more

Service was decent, and the atmosphere was just okay. Reminds me of an upscale hotel bar, which is exactly what it is, but I was hoping for a better lounge type atmosphere. Rooms are gorgeous and have every amenity. Food at Balfes is top notch!!! The breakfast is amazing as well and included. The pastries are to die for. My one complaint-the "gym" is a tiny hotel room with the oldest equipment I've ever seen . They offer use of a gym across the street which doesn't look much better. The property is so large I can't understand why they didn't think to build a proper workout facility. Would still recommend The Westbury Hotel! read more

checked in June 4 2016, Top Luxury Suite, 600 Euros per night. Reserved thro LHW so can get upgrade, early check-in, late check out, amenities etc. Where to start? Reserved about three weeks in advance, my wife and I and our 4 year old son. Extra bed.Arrived around 13;57 to encounter Tatiana at check-in. She told us that there was no possibility to upgrade, "but we DO have the most fabulous room, great views, you amenities already there'd late check-out". "I don't need late check out we'll leave at 4;30 a.m." "OK, you want breakfast in the other restaurant because the main one is closed for renovation"! No advance notice of this. "Tatiana, I just told you we leave at 4 a.m." "Oh yes, that's early, sorry""Do you want it in the room?" "At 4 am?" "Oh, you're leaving at 4 are you?" By now, we realize we are somewhat wasting our breath. "May I pls have the room key" "The rollout bed?"'In the room?" "Oh yes, I'll arrange that right away it'll be there in a few minutes along with your luggage" 30 minutes later, no bed, no cases. Call down to Front desk - "Apologies, right away". It's now around 14:30, time for our son's nap. 14:50 Still no bed, bags just arrive. Call again. Apologies, right away. Ask for manager. They'll get him to call. By the way, another of Tatiana's b.s., no amenities in the room!! I open the closet door, it won't close- at 600 Euros per night.When I eventually slam it to close, the one right nest to it opens!!! Rinse and repeat- several times- comedy sketch! 3p.m. Still no bed. We decide to make the best of it and go out for lunch ( about an hour). Come back - STILL - no bed, no amenities, no call from any personnel. Call again- "apologies - send bed immediately and manager" 25 minutes more- we call yet AGAIN! Eventually Allesandra arrives at the door - it's now 16:21, no bed no amenities. She says" I'm sorry to advise you we don't have the roll-up bed" "We have none"!!! "So why not, why did they promise one, why did we not know, why the 3 hours and what solution do you offer?"
