Met the owners, Margaret and Allen...sweet couple. Today, they had a band Shelton Ray...playing outdoors along with a potluck (BYOF) with, Allen the owner grilling pig on the pit! It was really nice. So, check out their www because they always have something going on. Tried the rose' and white voignier ...they were both tasty but didn't like either enough to purchase. What a great winery! Tucked away off the main road with beautiful grounds. Porter was super knowledgeable and attentive for our tasting, and we enjoyed every glass of wine and beer!

Beautiful building & the ladies serving are very kind. We did the Variety Tasting - 6 tastes - 2 white, 1 Rose & 3 Reds + the glass for $20. I really enjoyed almost all of them which was fun. Definitely a great stop during COVID as there is plenty of space.

Such a beautiful little area. Small winery but very intimate. They have a pulled pork nachos plate which we enjoyed. Also got the little charcuterie board which we enjoyed. Was like the fanciest thing but it was good. Enjoyed it. Wine selection was good. Cute spot to check out. Also had house made beer which the guys enjoyed after wine all day.

Of the Texas wineries, we enjoyed coming here. The wines were very good, would have preferred a more in depth explanation of the wines but that's me being nerdy . The ladies seemed very busy so that could have explained that. Nonetheless, the wines spoke for themselves. We bought the premium wine tasting for $20 but ended up buying a Viognier from the regular tasting because they had a greater selection of white wines and it's Texas so you know it's hot . Lol From 2-5 they have a live band outside so you can enjoy some good music with a view:)

What a wonderful place! Loved the location and they had good wine to boot! Margaret was an outstanding hostess through our tasting and went out of her way to make sure we were satisfied and our wine purchased was protected. Their Viognier is excellent! Great outdoor space with live music on the weekend. We'll be back!

Ya'll come back now ya hear. If I'm ever in Austin again I will!!! Great wines, beautiful scenery, wonderful staff! Met the owners (husband and wife) who were very friendly and full of information not only about their winery but also about everywhere a tourist should go to get the full Austin experience. The woman who poured our tastings was also great! Very friendly and informative. My friend and I went here on a whim after going to hamilton pool for the day. We happened to see a sign for the winery on our way to the pool and decided to check it out after. So glad that we did! We ended up doing a tasting and then getting a glass of our favorite and sitting outside enjoying the beautiful scenery and weather. I got the sweet rose but I really like sweet wines. If you buy 3 bottles the tasting is free. It's $15 for a mostly red tasting list (about 7 tastes) or $10 for a mostly white tasting. My friend got the red flight and I got the white and we shared between us that way we could taste all the wines. You can also drink a glass from a bottle you buy and have them reseal it if you don't finish it while at the winery. We had leftover picnic food that we brought outside with us and ate with the wine. If you don't bring your own they have a meat and cheese platter for $10. I highly recommend that you add this place to your list of must do's!!

What a wonderful "socially distanced sipping experience yesterday at Westcave Cellars. We enjoyed the wines so much that we signed up as new members! Great way to spend the day!

Had a great wine experience. My favorite was the High Cross Viognier, I will definitely be taking a bottle home with me! The staff was very kind, knowledgeable and took the time to answer our questions.

Do you have to make a reservation for wine tasting on weekends?

It would probably be a good idea to call ahead but no reservations are required.

Mr. Crowson (the father of Henry Crowson - the owner and winemaker, who might be a co-owner but is definitely very involved at the winery) welcome us in for a wine tasting. Since we were the only people there, it ended up being a very private, personal experience! Mr. Crowson tried the wines with us and talked to us about each. He also told us about the Crowson's non-interventionist approach to winemaking. If you enjoy or are interested in natural wine, low/no intervention wine, orange wine, or any other term that's being used right now, Crowson should definitely be on your list for a day or weekend of wine tasting in the 290/Fredericksburg/Johnson City area! (I am a fan of the low/no intervention movement, and I knew I wanted to visit Crowson when we were in the area! It's the most natural/low-intervention of all wineries in the area that I am aware of!) The wines we tasted were interesting and delicious and varied (not a tasting where all the wines take remarkably similar). The space is charming, beautiful, and very comfortable, and Mr. Crowson played some great records during our visit which added even more fun to the experience! And of course, the customer service couldn't get better than a personal tasting with Mr. Crowson, who made this a very special visit. This is a smaller winery, so I recommend you reach out to them to schedule a visit, so you can be sure they are there and open. Because you don't want to a miss a visit to this very special winery.

Crowson came highly recommended from our friend who lives in Austin, so we made a reservation for 6 people on a Saturday for a wine tasting. They are taking Covid precautions, everything was socially distanced, our tasting was outside (and thankfully they had heaters so we were quite nice and warm), and everyone was wearing masks! The wine was absolutely delicious and we all loved the wine we had here. One of only two places in Texas that has natural wines (nothing added). This is a very cozy, homey, winery- they make you feel so welcome, are very gracious and just a fun time ! Henry and his dad were a delight. Highly recommend this place!

The tasting room has been open for about four months, but owner and winemaker, Gary Hahne, has been making wine for a lifetime. Gary is a Texas Hill Country Native and his family roots date back to his great grandparents who immigrated to the Stonewall area from Germany. His parents were close friends to LBJ and Lady Bird. The Hahne surname in German translates to the English word rooster, which ties to the colorful rooster found on the winery's logo. There is no tasting fee to sample the four dry wines, and one sweet Sangria style wine on the tasting menu. Each bottle of wine tells a different story of the Hahne family and the surrounding hill country. As you sip and savor the flavor of the well balanced, delicious, palatable wines. You can walk around the winery and enjoy the historic pictures of the Hahne family, and hear about the family and area history. I had the great pleasure of being able to talk with Gary himself about his amazing family heritage. I enjoyed all of the five wines. My favorite was a bold; well balanced, red blend (Tempranillo, Cab Sauv, and Nero D'Avola) entitled Texas Tapestry. I also loved the Texas styled Chianti appropriately named Texanti. This was a softer red, fruit forward, but well balanced with lingering notes. I also very much enjoyed the dry rose that is named after Gary's grandfather, Opa. The Viognier blend was also surprisingly good, with interesting peach like notes. My visit here was delightful, and I hope to return soon. Gary is passionate about making quality wine to enjoy with us, and to pass down his story to be remembered for years to come.
