We had an absolutely amazing experience with the Vancouver HOHO bus! Easy way to get around the city to all the main tourist attractions. The employees were incredibly helpful and friendly. Buses were frequent and always on time. We actually missed the very last bus home out of Stanley Park, and called them to see if there was any chance another bus was coming. Unfortunately there wasn't, so we simply asked for direction to public transit to make our way home. They went way above the call of duty and actually ordered us a cab - on them! Would use them again in a heartbeat. Wonderful experience. read more

We did an Alaskan cruise round-trip to/from Vancouver, and afterwards had about eight hours to see everything we wanted to check out in town. The Hop On, Hop Off bus was perfect for our needs. I loved the flexibility of being able to get off whenever our fancy struck and (in theory) get back on in any increment of 20 minutes. Unfortunately, as other reviewers have mentioned, they overbook and it's not uncommon for the buses to be completely full when they come by, which means you're stuck waiting for the next one (or the next one after that). Also, the pre-recorded tour commentary is a little cheesy and difficult to hear, particularly if you're sitting in the open-air portion of the bus. For $42 per person, it seems like they could do better. But if you're pre- or post-cruise and have a limited amount of time to work with, it may suit your needs nonetheless. It did ours. read more

So very disappointed! Do not waste your money, if I could give a 0 I would. If you have small children this is NOT the tour for you. We waited outside our bus trying to figure out which bus we were on (not advised there would be three identical buses) and then were lectured for "being late" over the loud speaker because we were not on the bus. There was minimal a/c and I asked to turn it up and was given a hard time too as it was very warm on board for my infant daughter. When we got to the Capilano Suspension Bridge we were told to meet back in 5 minutes but we had to wait for the family restroom. Our tour guide left without us... but also never came back to check on us so instead of being able to skip the line we saw him walking out of the Centre. My husband tried calling after him but he just left. In short if you need time to use family bathrooms because you have small children or would like to feel like your tour guide did more than yell at you during your tour don't bother with this company. read more

My family used the Vancouver Hop-on/Hop-off In September 2015, and really enjoyed the service. The bus has 20+ stops at all of the tourist locations you would want to visit. You can get off the bus, tour the area, and then get on another bus when it comes around. The buses usually run about every 15 minutes. Every thing that was on our list of places to see was a stop on the route; Granville island, Stanley Park, Canada Place, museums, the Entertainment District, etc. The driver and staff were all very friendly and helpful. The cost is $42 per adult/$25 per child. They also have a great family pass (2 adults/2 children) for $100. The passes are good for 24 hours, and the buses usually run from 8am to 7pm depending on your stop. We were able to use the bus to tour all of Vancouver and because the pass was still valid, we used the bus to get to Canada Place to catch our cruise ship the next day. Awesome deal. My only negatives are the bus is older, and reminded me of a school bus. Very basic. And I wish they would have operated earlier and later (longer hours). read more

Had a single day to tour Vancouver. On the paper- the Hop On, Hop Off bus was the perfect selection for our needs. As a matter of fact this is my favorite method of starting a tour in a city newly arrived in. Without exception, in America, Europe and in Asia, this is a very pleasant and educational experience. Mostly the bus is a double decker with adjoining earphones offered for receiving audio guidance in a language of choice. Boy- were we completely mistaken. Not in Vancouver. In Vancouver the hop-on and off bus is a ridiculous joke. The bus itself is of inferior quality, probably a remnant of the 60s and 70s that should have been demolished long ago. It is only partly covered, the better part of the single deck bus open to the elements, equipped with a flimsy plastic hatch that provides only some cover for the pouring rain. Recall that this is not your sunny LA, but rather soaking rainy nearly constantly wet and damp Vancouver. Not only the hatch provides barely your minimal shelter, but also gives you only semi-clear view of the toured vistas. OK, so you got on the bus for sight-seeing? Tough luck, you must choose between the view and shelter from rain. But the worst is yet to come: having hopped off we then hopped on a bus whose plastic hatch got busted in mid ride. Under the heavy winds the hatch began flapping with its aluminum holding-poles hitting against the bus sides, endangering the passengers just as we were passing over a very busy bridge across the bay. The passengers grabbed the sides of the hatch and held it bravely down. You might think that the tour company would offer some reward or compensation, like let's switch to a better bus, get a ticket for another day, or offer a sailing tour for all the misery. Mind you the ride fare is $42 per passenger, or $100 for a family of three as we were. But no, no such luck. So when you are in Vancouver, hire a taxi, rent a car, ride a horse or walk on foot, but don't get on the hop-on and off. read more

First time in and asked the concierge in our hotel about tours. She recommended these guys and am glad she did. Used these guys for a tour in Vancouver. Had a great time, and tour guide Jeffrey was AWESOME . From the time he picked us up at the hotel to the end. He was funny, attentive, and very knowledgeable. He had a full shuttle that day and everyone seemed to be enjoying the day. Highly recommend them and hope you get lucky and have Jeffrey as your guide. read more

The tour was $42 CAD for one day. It was the open-air hop on hop off bus. Early in the morning there was ample room, but by noon people were waiting an hour for a bus, and when they finally could get on one they didn't even get a seat. Got off in Stanley Park to walk around and take in some of the beautiful sites. When it came time to get back it turned into a nightmare. Four buses cam by and all told us the same story that they were full but another bus would be by in 10 minutes (more like 15-20).we finally got on 4th bus and refused to get off. People on bus told us that we were smart to do so because the past few stops had people waiting and we would most likely not get on another bus for probably 1 1/2 hours minimum. We do HOHOs in just about every city we visit. This one was one of the most disappointing tours we've ever taken. The convenience of booking thru our hotel won out over the research I had previously done. I should have stuck with the plan to go with their competitor. It was early afternoon on May 26th. The recorded audio was poorly done, and most of the time the driver talked over it, anyway. That would have been fine if he had given us useful or interesting info, but he was mainly just expressing his opinions of what he enjoyed. Towards the end of the tour he also made it quite clear that if we were counting on catching the last trolley, we shouldn't wait until the last minute to be at the stop because, "after 12 hours on the road we're in a hurry to end our day and we might leave early." If I could give zero stars I would! This tour bus company is a complete joke. Not only was my tour experience a rip off, I actually had to wait an hour and a half when one of the buses didn't show up. I finally decided to take public transportation from the last drop off point because the buses had random pick up times that didn't align with their published times! If you want an expensive adventure that provides limited transportation, this is the company to choose. However, if you want reliable and worthwhile, I highly recommend a different company. read more

Would not recommend this tour. You spend most of your time waiting for the bus. And once the bus gets there they do not fill all the seats up to let people on at the next stop. Waste of time; better off walking or using an Uber to go from site to site you want to see. read more

Unresponsive company with subpar hosts, false advertising, and virtually no customer service. They take your money and don't give a damn about anything that goes wrong. Wrote to them twice on different platforms and they just don't respond. Save your $$ and time and venture with other travel companies that offer much more valuable tours. Great idea, bad experience! I have done Hop on Hop off busses all across Canada and the USA and normally, I love them!... this one was by far the worst. Westcoast Sightseeing needs better management to predict when cruise ships are in port to add MORE busses. The busses are low quality, the commentary is cheesy (when it actually works), the drivers were not helpful or understanding and there are simply not enough busses. This means LONG lines ups with chances to miss the bus and have to wait ANOTHER 20 minutes, and if you do get on... you wont be sitting with your friends/family. There is no reason to pack people on like sardines and charge them $50 for a bad experience. Not how I wanted to spend a day in beautiful Vancouver. Try Victoria Hop on Hop off, it was a much better experience! read more

It is embarrassing to me living in Vancouver seeing all the OLD Hop on Hop off Buses that pollute so badly! Sure they have lots of new additions to the fleet ,however the older buses are just awful! Unacceptable, given that they are promoting tourism transporting people around this wonderful city yet polluting so badly.Come on West Coast sightseeing get your act together and shame on the City if Vancouver for allowing this to happen . read more

It was very busy today on July 2nd. We waited 40 minutes for a bus and we passed several stops where people could not board the bus. The company was not truthful with people about the capacity of the bus even though our driver and ticket takers along the way were radio relaying issues. Ask about capacity before paying and ask about a refund policy if you are not able to board. read more

We had a full day to explore Vancouver after an 18 day cruise/trip to Alaska and were not disappointed with the Gray Line Westcoast Sightseeing Hop-on, Hop-off guided tour with Meenu as our guide. She truly explained exactly what someone new to the area would want to know and did it "from the heart."She was patient and kind while answering our many questions and taught us so much! If I could give them a negative star I would. Whatever you do don't get Ed as a tour guide. He was clearly a disgruntled employee. He rambled on about how Peter (maybe his boss) was a total idiot who couldn't keep the radio chatter down to a minimum. He snapped at one of the passengers for talking to her husband. Asking if she wanted to guide the tour and if not be quiet because she was distracting him. He attempted to leave members of our group when they were a few minutes late. When they got there he whispered under his breath and proceeded to slam stuff around. I don't know if this company is short staffed, but they must be desperate to not have fired this guy by now. I'm sure if we had a more pleasant tour guide my review would be different, but we didn't and the tour sucked because of it! Be careful when you are booking your Hop on Hop Off bus from this company in Vancouver. We got ripped off and paid way to much. We paid $66 each for a 48 hour classic bundle pass for 2 for $112 and it was 3:00pm and stopped at 5:00pm The gentleman Gabriel Jacob, Or Jacob Gabriel knew we only had 2 hours to ride, and still sold us the 48 hour pass. It wasn't worth it and felt like we were taken advantage of as tourists. read more

I got a Groupon for 2 and we were picked up at the GEC hotel downtown. Our tour guide, Carlos, was such a sweetheart with a sense of humor. The tour was the perfect way of mapping out spots that we went to explore a little further later on in the next two days. It started at Canada Palace, then went on to Stanley Park where we stopped at the Totem Poles. Then we drove through the park to go up to Capilano- stayed there for almost 2hrs. Groupon included admission, which was amazing! Then drove back to the other parts of Stanley park, to Grandville Island where we stopped for another hour; continued on through Yaletown, Gastown and Downtown. My friend and I took the Whistler Tour, and it was phenomenal! We were picked up at our hotel at about 8am and were dropped off there in time for dinner at about 6pm, just like the brochure advertised. Beautiful British Columbia scenery aside, our tour guide, Gordie, was amazing! He was a wealth of information about so many different aspects of life in BC, and had a never-ending supply of entertaining anecdotes and jokes. Plus, he remembered our names, which was a nice personal touch. The drive up to Whistler from downtown was gorgeous, with stops at Horseshoe Bay, Shannon Falls, the Squamish Adventure Center, and Porteau Cove on the way back. Upon arrival, Gordie offered us tickets for Whistler activities at a cheaper rate than in the village, but also pointed out various other things to do and see. We had plenty of time to explore the village and get back to Vancouver for dinner. Gordie's experience and amiable personality made this tour leaps and bounds better than so many other tours we have taken. Thanks!!! read more

We enjoyed the process. It was nice to be able to get off the bus and spend time where and when we wanted. Our first driver was awesome. He spent a lot of time off script and told a lot of info. Our other two drivers, not so much. One never spoke and the other only gave minimal info. Our third actually stopped the bus for 20 minutes in order to eat a sandwich while our day was almost over and we needed to get back to our parking lot. We took the train to Vancouver from Seattle and decided the best way to see the city would be a hop-on hop-off tour, as we've done a couple of these in other cities and have thoroughly enjoyed them. We had only one day in the city and unfortunately it was rainy the entire day. That in itself was not a huge deal (nor was it this company's fault, obviously), and is even to be expected there, but our experience was not terribly pleasant until later in the day, partially due to the rain, but in larger part due to this tour company. First, we stood out in the rain waiting for a bus/trolley to come...they have no cover unless you find a local business awning to stand under, and then you risk losing your place in line. There was one gentleman at the stop handing out a map but did not seem to be coordinating anything else (I was told to look for the people in the bright green jackets - there was no one there). A bus pulled up that was extremely full and another group that was there before us said this was the second one they'd have to pass on because there was no room. It did end up they could shuffle a few people around to get them on, but the bus was literally at its max capacity, so we waited for the next one. Finally another one came but it was not a great experience...it was also quite full and the seats are terribly close together so it was not comfortable at all for my husband who is 6' 4" - I'm 5' 8" and my knees were tight to the back of the seat in front of us - and instead of having a tour that was narrated by the driver, they have a "canned" recording that we could barely hear above the bus noise, plus the timing of it is weird and it seemed like they were talking about something else half the time. And to top it off, that first driver was not good. Not really friendly or helpful at all and actually seemed annoyed to be there. We got off in Gastown just to grab a coffee or something (the bus we were on is normally about half open-air and they had plastic they put over the windows and top, but it's not well secured and leaked and let the cold air in, plus it's very hard to see out of) and switch routes since we had the duel pass, and the second bus we got back on was slightly less crowded, but again an unfriendly driver and leaky bus you couldn't see out of very well. We ended up going to the aquarium for a couple hours to get out of the rain and get a break from the dated buses and poor drivers. That was nice and we decided to to walk to the totem poles since it had let up at that point. That is where our tour experience finally turned around. We saw a bus at that stop that appeared to be much newer and in much better condition. We got on and our driver told us they'd had some break downs that morning so they'd sent these buses out now. Thank goodness!! (We had wondered if there was something going on as it all seemed terribly unorganized and like everyone hated their jobs, honestly) This one also didn't have the canned recording so the driver (Lynn) had to narrate for us, which is what we'd expected/hoped for in the first place! She was excellent - very friendly and knowledgeable and actually seemed like she enjoyed her job, unlike the others! We love hop-on hop-off tours, but had it not been for Lynn, I would have rated this one with one star. I realize they can't help issues here and there, but we were told they'd had "multiple" breakdowns - how does that happen? The only thing we could surmise is the old run-down buses. This company just seems terribly unorganized and they didn't handle things professionally. We wouldn't do a tour with this company again, which is unfortunate because Lynn really was great! read more

I live in Vancouver on the Hop On Hop Of route sightseeing bus company that are all owned by one company. My street is bombarded by buses driving by that have 2 to 3 passengers sitting in them. One bus after another. Three to four buses 1 minute apart. I have nothing against the HOHO bus tours since i have used them in all the cities i have visited. The difference between Vancouver's HOHO( Westcoast Sightseeing )and other cities is that they don't drive by every minute and are definitely not empty. In other cities the buses wait until they are significantly full. The other issue is that these buses emit diesel fuel exhaust in a residential neighborhood, noise pollution, and are going against everything to do with energy efficiency and keeping Vancouver green. As I sit here writing this post 3 buses, one after another drives by on a residential street in Kits Point with one bus loudly announcing the sites they are passing by. Westcoast Sightseeing is the company i am talking about! City of Vancouver what happened to "we are a green city" Last year the amount of buses driving by was much more reasonable but now that Westcoast Sightseeing has bought out all the other tour bus co. we are bombarded because according to them Vancouver City of Vancouver - Local Government have issued a permit allowing them to send as many buses as they want. There is an easy fix...have the bus stop at Cornwall and users can walk to the Vancouver Museum, Maritime Museum and the beach. If your a tourist in my beautiful city please reconsider using this bus tour company! Westcoast Sightseeing also please avoid all Museums in Vanier park /Kits point as they have a contract with @Westcoast sightseeing. We booked Hop-On Hop-Off Vancouver City Tour at our hotel (Holiday Inn & Suites N.Vancouver) after our check in clerk recommended it. WOW....Late pickup, took 1.5 hrs shuttle to get to the tour bus, tour bus guide (Don) was absolutely terrible....poor discussion, uninformed, abusive to clients, personal discussion, offensive...need i say more. 50% of the tour was BS. Too much time (1.5hrs) at the suspension bridge and we had to wait an hour to return. We were dropped off in the city to another shuttle. The driver of that shuttle said she would have picked us up at the suspension bridge (end of tour) if Don the tour driver would have communicated with her. All in all we were very displeased and did NOT get our $103 CAD each (4 of us) monies worth. read more

This is for the Hop On Hop Off Tour. There is a lot of room for improvement and it could be so much better (as witnessed on similar tours in other cities). The buses have only drivers (rather than a driver and seperate guide). You drive around with a silent driver who presses a button to play a recording. When the bus is open air the recordings were impossible to hear from the middle of the bus (let alone from the back). And yet when the bus had the rain cover on it was difficult to see out the windows and too warm inside.The recordings were often pressed too soon or too late and did not match up with what we were actually seeing. Very impersonable not very interesting. It seemed so half-done and like the company didn't care enough to provide an actual good experience and that energy was reflected in the guests on the bus, who all seemed like they were about to fall asleep. You're basically paying a lot of money to ride around in a school bus and listen to an inaudible few sentence long recording with no additional information. No personality. No fun. I would not recommend this tour to anyone. I hope that this service improves as it's embarassing that this is the impression we're giving to visitors to the city. Please hire seperate guides to deliver the commentary and make it personal and interesting. As it is, it's extremely boring except for the few lucky ones in the previous comments who reported they got an interesting driver. All the ones we got on were the recordings only drivers. We actually got off the bus before it was over because of how dull it was. Very disapointing. read more

Very disappointed in today's city tour with Kevin. Was supposed to pick us up at 10, but showed up at 10:30. Not a very good tour guide. Never mentioned the direction of the sights he was pointing out, so we were constantly straining to figure out where he was talking about. This in spite of the fact that he was asked to change this at the very first stop. Didn't seem engaged in his job. Cut in front of people, ran through lights that had already turned red & almost had an altercation with a bicyclist that he got angry about. His constant start and stop (on the brakes all the time - even while at a red light) left many guests asking him to not do that because he was making us feel ill. To top it all off, he was supposed to return us to our hotel by 2:30, but didn't even get to the last stopping point until 2:50. Since we weren't going to be able to get back to our hotel until at least 4:00pm, my wife and I left the tour and walked back to our hotel. I don't know about other employees of this organization, but I'd recommend you stay away from Kevin. Oh yeah...he was also always coughing - assumed he is a smoker with the cough he had! U read more

Bought tickets for the Hop on, Hop off bus. ($42CAD ea.) It was the last day of our 3 days in Vancouver and we wanted to see more of the city before we left. The ticket is valid 24 hours from when you get on the first bus. So try to get there for the first bus of the day or buy it to where you can also use it the next day. We boarded at Canada place, stop #3. We rode the full loop once through to hear the commentary and the driver telling stories. Our driver was Dennis. Very enthusiastic and clearly LOVE Vancouver! We really only had time for 1 stop because we started late morning and after taking the full loop we choose to stop at the totem poles in Stanley park. We had an hour before the next bus picked us up and so we walked around a bit. It was raining very lightly and it was foggy which Dennis said is unusual for day weather here but still was an enjoyable ride! At the end he was very accommodating and dropped us right at the transit station. read more

Rick was our tour guide for the Whistler excursion and he was wonderful! We were picked up very close to the Airbnb we were staying at and thoroughly enjoyed our day. He provided insight and guidance without being too hovering. The smaller buses lend to a more personable experience than other tours I've taken elsewhere. While the trip was expensive, we felt like it really added to us getting to know a bit of the history of the area around Vancouver and the Sea to Sky journey to Whistler. read more
