Okay... maybe more than a few years ago…read more This review is more about the outside of the school, including the baseball diamonds, playground and the basketball courts than the education I received while I was a student. It's a small school located on the southeastern edge of Montgomery County. School looks pretty much the same as it did when I was there except the trees have gotten a little bigger and the playground equipment has gotten smaller and "safer". No more metal and wood jungle gym or brown curly slide. Nope.. that's too dangerous for the kids today. It's been replaced with plastic equipment that seems tiny. I stopped by because I wanted a large space to practice drone flying in case I crashed, and the baseball diamonds at my old school always seem appropriate. The grounds have been updated and appear much nicer now.. electric scoreboards, announcer stand with speakers, electricity in the dugouts, etc. Lots of room for people to hang out and watch a game on the main diamond, and still an extra one in the back that the well-worn track runs around. It's a bit of a drive from Indy, but if the weather is nice, this is a peaceful place for a picnic (during the summertime when school is out, of course) or to practice flying your drone.

It's not very good. The school had a bullying problem. I know people who had kids there and they…read moresaid that at lunch the food had mold and the staff tried to cover it up with a smiley face but the students were able to read it. The staff would also give high fives to the students. The school is very poorly made and crappy. They treat their students like prisoners and don't even let them use the restroom. And almost half of the kids get expelled. Some kids get mentally disturbed. but yeah if you want to put your kids in the school for 8th grade then that would be great because they need more 8th graders next year for class of 2030.

My kids have thrived here each year. One thing I particularly enjoy is the "buddy" system where they pair up a young child in the 1st grade with an older student in 8th grade for different events during the year. The students form a bond with each other. It is an early mentor/mentee relationship that works very well. I won't call out particular classes or teachers for being great because I would certainly miss someone. But, the school feels like family to us. I am writing this review during the COVID-19 quarantine. We've been e-learning for 10 weeks now. While it is not ideal, the school has not stopped being amazing. The teachers and staff have done such much in keeping in contact and ensuring the students are really understanding what they need to know to be ready to move on. A+ job St Luke!

One of my daughters attended the little elementary. It is part of the 5 star school district that Zionsville prides. Today, the school houses preschool through 4th grades. The faculty is outstanding. The school was built in the 1950s but has been renovated since then. The site was once a popular lake and park in the 1800s. The lake has been gone a long time. There is very limited parking at the school. Outside is a very small playground.

Visited here for a basketball game. The gym is decent in size, but compared to other gyms is very…read moredim. My son complained about how dark it was while we were playing. Luckily we got the win, but I could see how that can affect the play and atmosphere. The refs called the game pretty fairly. Bleacher seating was sufficient for the crowd. The parking lot isn't very big at this gym, and could fill up quickly, but I got here early. The athletic door was not clearly labeled, so I followed where the players went in. If this venue hosted a larger event, parking would be a problem.

It is the perfect volunteer opportunity to work into a busy schedule - a set hour each week, with sites all over the city, and opportunities throughout the day and evening. They just moved to a new office at the United Way campus to be closer to more of their sites and to be accessible to the families they serve by being near the Red Line. Next time we have a committee meeting, I'll add photos of their beautiful new space!

School on Wheels is an amazing non-profit organization that provides tutoring to students in…read morehomeless shelters and battered women shelters. Often times these children are the lost children of the system. They fall through the cracks because their less then ideal home situation means constantly moving from one shelter home couch to another and thus constant interruption in their education. Sometimes parents are in a constant state of shock worried with other concerns like safety, food, utilities, that their kids education is the last concern on their mind. The volunteer tutors of School on Wheels become sometimes that one beacon of light for these kids. As a tutor we assist children in their homework and play games, we provide positive reinforcement. We let them talk and and we let them be kids in their often rocky world. Being a tutor requires little commitment but just an hour a day a week. There is so much flexibility to being a tutor. As a tutor for almost 3.5 years I learned so much about myself and the children gave back to me as much as I tried to give back to them.
