I have two children who have mathematical minds, and they really enjoy math and logic. However, my oldest has been struggling a bit learning certain math concepts at school, so we visited Mathnasium to get some help. I wanted to be sure that any help we got with math didn't extinguish that love he has for math -- I didn't want him to dread doing math. But Mathnasium makes learning mathematics fun. And the people who work here are super invested in the kids and work very hard to make sure they succeed while having a good time. Our first visit consisted of an evaluation, just to see what my child knew and didn't know for his age/grade. After the evaluation, they could then see what he needed to work on, and they were able to tailor the tutoring to fill those knowledge gaps. The tutoring is all about making sure the kids have the basics down, and then working up from there. I really like that. What my child really liked was that he was able to work up toward prizes. Each page of work he completed meant he got a punch in his punch card, and punch cards could be redeemed for prizes. And the prizes were really good! We're talking board games, water bottles, snacks, and other fun things. There were also lots of fun bonuses throughout the week -- each day you visited, there was usually something interesting happening. Like one day, they celebrated National Chocolate Day by giving out chocolate to everyone who visited that day. Or if it was a tutor's birthday, then everyone got double or triple punches in their punch cards. Speaking of tutors, they were all so very kind and helpful. The tutors seem like high school or college-aged kids, which was nice because I felt like my child could relate to them. You can visit Mathnasium on a month-to-month basis, which I like, because that means we can drop in when I start to feel like my kid needs a math refresher. And it was especially helpful this summer break -- we visited to work out some of the kinks he had with math last school year, and also to keep the skills he had already mastered sharp. I have recommended Mathnasium to real-life friends with kids, and now I'm recommending it to you! I'm sure we will be back at some point, and the best part is that my kid is actually looking forward to going back.

Their ACT scores…read moreimproved (an 11% for one kid and a 23% for the other, but does seem much here when you mention it but was a substantial improvement in actual scores) and they were accepted into much higher ranked colleges than they would otherwise have. It was a lot of money, but we consider the money well spent as they were able to get into colleges that offered a great education but had lower prices. They were given personal feedback after each mock exam, and they were given tips on where to focus on and how to improve. Both of them found the experience useful. We lost over a month of prep time when the class we signed up for was cancelled just before the start dates. We were then told that the June/July classes had no one enrolled so were unlikely to go forward. They then offered to sell private tutoring or online classes. Don't waste your time waiting for an in person class. Very frustrating.

Stephen did an excellent job of holding our attention and keeping the class engaged with a perfect blend of knowledge, expertise, and humor. He kept us on point throughout the four day course. Post class, I found the video lessons to be most helpful. Thanks to Stephen and PMA, I passed the PMP exam on my first attempt.

He is a very capable instructor who not…read moreonly knew the material very well, but was also sufficiently engaging to pull the group through 4 full days of material. This is my 2nd bootcamp with PMA, which has consistently delivered good products and genuinely cares about providing value. I would say, however, that the style of the PMI PMP exam has changed quite a bit over the years and it feels like the syllabus for future bootcamps is going to need to evolve too.

Now I'm a math whiz - although my word problem, intermediate algebra, & calculus days are long forgotten. This location has just changed ownership, but it was great from the startup. After almost 20 years of working there, the previous owners were a wonderful couple who definitely showed passion in teaching - not based on business aspect. Under new management, the new owner is keeping Kumon's previous model. He is very organized and provides good feedback to students and parents as well. He tailors his/her own curriculum based on a student's achievement. They have a wonderful early learning teaching assistants as well as math & reading staff who take pride in grading material and helping students with any questions they may have. Because this tutoring center is based on self-motivation, students must work try to work independently to understand concepts. The instructor will guide them if they cannot figure out the problem. From what I understand, prospective parents schedule an appointment with the instructor take their child(ren) in for a free placement test to evaluate their child(ren)'s understanding. From there, if the parent decides to enroll their child(ren), they will need to register their child(ren). I'm not sure what the pricing is now (due to inflation), but I'm estimating around $95/mo per subject. I don't have any kids yet, but I would trust this instructor to tutor my child - perhaps in the future so they can be ahead in school like I was!
