I booked an appointment with Western Computers through the Apple website to get a new battery for my IPhone. On arriving I was told that another appointment as they needed to do a diagnostic? I queried this and they said as they weren't a Genius Bar they did things differently. They need to send the IPhone off for a diagnostic test at a charge of £39. I guess not Western Computers fault but they are listed on the Apple Website as an alternative to the Genius Bar and I booked the appointment through the Apple site as the store in Bristol had no appointments. My annoyance was there is no mention when booking that they can't deal with things on site and they make a charge for something I can get for free at an Apple Store. A wasted journey. read more

I've used this store a number of times, mainly for advice, although I have bought a few items from the guys here. Whether I was buying or after advice the help given was from the past, as in this kind of service is rare if not unobtainable. The staff are always nothing less than a wonder advert for their store, and I wo have no hesitation to recommend them to buy and be happy that any issues would be delt with in good old fashioned manners and courtesy. Well done a I.T. Store that takes time to explain things for a old man with little patience, in a way he nearly understands, (and this is aimed at me not the store). read more

I went in to have to have my macbook pro fixed under waranty, for a broken headphone jack in the headphone port and a failed USB port. They said the headphone broken inside the mac is my fault so I had to pay a diagnose fee of £79 (which I was ok with) but explained the USB port failed long before a headphone tip broke off in the headphone port and asked them to atlas fix me the USB port. they said I had to pay £560.67 to have the whole logic board replaced, so i asked for my macbook back after paying for their diagnose fee of £79. Eventually I managed to use some tricks I saw of youtube to pull the broken headphone out of the headphone jack and speaker started working again, but I still had a failed USB port and i couldn't back up my files. I contacted apple and they told me there are two shops I can choose from in Cheltenham so I went in to the second shop called Grafx, have my USB fixed ports fixed. The diagnose fee was £20 cheaper than Western (£57 ) but fixed my USB ports under warranty with a new logic board for £0! not £560.67 like Western asked! read more

The Western Computer Apple Centre is situated in the Beechwood Arcade just off the High Street. Go to the very back of the arcade, up the escalator and it is next to Debenhams. The shop is pretty small but has all the latest Apple products and some helpful staff if you get stcuk. They also have a range of Mac software and ipod accessories. To be honest I would buy most of my Mac gear online if I could find a better price but have used them a few times for the convenience. There ipod accessories especially are quite overpriced in my opinion but I suppose they are catering to people like my Uncle who prefers to talk to a face and buy from a physical shop. Overall - good for browsing and seeing the latest products but probably more suited to those who want a bit of extra advice or face to face service. read more

Western Computer is a great place for Apple gear. It sells the full range of Apple computers and iPods, and have recently started selling the iPhone. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly, and understand your concerns when switching to a Mac, and are willing to spend considerable amounts of time on the phone helping you. As Premium Resellers, they offer a repair and warranty replacement service on Apple computers and iPods, which is also very useful. I have to agree with siblet about the cost of iPod accessories, but iPod accessories are always expensive in physical shops because they have overheads to meet that online shops don't. All in all, if you are looking to buy something Apple or just want advice, it's well worth dropping in read more
