Avoid at all costs. Took an iPhone 7 into the Chelmsford store for a battery replacement. The iPhone is in immaculate condition and has no faults that exhibit themselves to me as a user. They insisted that I factory reset the phone, they then removed the Belkin screen protector. I was later told that they could not replace the battery because the phone had an unspecified audio fault Unless I agreed to pay an additional £325 !!! They also refused to replace the screen protector stating it had to be removed to check for unspecified audio faults etc. Having restored the phone I can confirm I have a phone that exhibits no faults what so ever apart from a poor battery and the lack of a screen protector! Moral: Always use a proper Apple store. read more

No help whatsoever. Looking to replace iPhone battery, they are listed on Apple Support site for this but showed no appointments. Emailed asking if I could make an appointment. Was told I could, but weren't always necessary, if I allowed 2-3 hours for work to be done. Replied asking for appointment to save wasted journey, told to go to Apple Support site to book this. Pointed out they didn't have appointments on there, hence previous emails. Got no reply. Tried calling store 8 times, always voicemail telling you they can't answer as they are SO busy with customers in store. Called while standing outside store, and could see 3 members of staff and 1 customer, still didn't answer. Went in and asked about making an appointment, told they had issues with repairs and would need my phone 2-3 days! So none of the information I was given was accurate. read more

If I could have given 0 stars I would have. My laptop stopped working so I took it in for a fix. The sales girl seemed extremely uninterested in helping me, and when I asked her to check if I had warranty she said I did not. I sent in my laptop for repairs and got the quote at £860. Obviously I wasn't going to pay this so I took it to an actual apple store. Turns out I had warranty the entire time and the repair would have costed about £190. read more

The technician invariably recommends purchase of a new item because it is supposedly "unfixable". This happened to me with a 12 month old iPhone [turned out it just needed a new battery] and reading through GOOGLE and YELP reviews it seems to happen to many others as well. Don't get me wrong, I buy and love apple equipment - I am a professional designer and will continue to use Macs, but the apple policy on repairs is becoming a serious concern. SHAME ON YOU APPLE. I took my iphone 6s in for a subsidised battery replacement. Diagnostics also found fault with ambient light sensor for which they wanted to charge £347.59 ! What a joke. They aren't making money changing batteries so they are trying to charge for extras. Wont be going back there again. read more

Went into Western Computer on a busy Friday afternoon with a non-working keyboard. I didn't have any paperwork but Ali (Alistair) was very helpful looking up the details, searching for a replacement part online and then, when finding that it was no longer stocked, promptly offering a refund. I think that many shops would have tried to force an exchange rather than a refund so I particularly appreciated this as it now gives me the opportunity to try to find the same keyboard online.
