Take a trip down memory lane at the Madison Hills Gulf station…read more I don't usually review gas stations, but there is something nostalgic about this little two pump corner station in the residential area of Clark. The station has a two bay garage attached. As I pulled into the station I ran over one of those old hoses that ring a bell inside. Out comes a grizzled, old station attendant to pump my gas. Of course, he had to take my credit card inside to run it - no pay at the pump here. I asked to use the bathroom and was told - you guessed it - that it was outside. I walked into the smallest bathroom that I have ever been in. It was disgustingly dirty and the fixtures were ancient - I half expected to see one of those rotating cloth towel things that used to be all the rage in the 70s. Take your kids to the Madison Hills Gulf before every gas station like this is extinct. There are not 16 pumps, no convenience store, no deli, and the bathroom makes you want to hold it until you get home, but I felt like I was taken back to my childhood hanging out the window of my parents Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser station wagon while they filled up the tank with leaded gasoline for $10.

I suspect waning cigarette sales and some corporate notion of convenient, one stop shopping drives their thinking. I'll still grab a coffee and a sandwich from time to time but I can get gas anywhere. Two price gouged stars.

I know this is a totally opposite experience of the other review, but I just moved here from a…read morestate that doesn't have gas attendants and this was my first experience. I thought it was great! The man who helped me was so nice. I had my baby and my dog in the car and clearly didn't know what to expect. He also helped me fill my tires (I've never done this before, so it was so nice to have the help). My husband was a gas attendant when he was in high school and he suggested I tip him if he helped me with my air. I offered a tip and he didn't take it. I'm glad this place is close to our house and that they were so nice because that's where we will be going for the years to come. The kindness was noticed and appreciated. Thanks!

Each of us honked our horns and still he did not look up. We had to finally go in and get him and were met with a grunt. Then he's handed a credit card to the wrong person and gave attitude when we told him that it belonged to the person in another car. Won't ever go to this place again.
