FYI: I had a very disappointing experience at Westmount Auto Centre( 2001 Bowness Rd NW, Calgary), specifically dealing with Omar. After my car (2007 Honda CR-V) sat at his shop for three weeks, with the repair timeline being moved multiple times, I was finally quoted $730 for the job, including the diagnostic and labor. That sounded fair, so I agreed. However, when I came to pick up the vehicle, I was presented with a final bill of $1,137.29, that's 55.79% more than what we discussed. When I questioned the increase, Omar claimed I had agreed to the new price, which I absolutely did not. A proper quote should reflect the actual cost unless something unexpected comes up, which was not the case here. To make matters worse, I asked him to show proof of the parts pricing, particularly the starter ($425.31), and he refused to provide any documentation. That's a huge red flag for any honest business. Also, the $165 diagnosis fee felt excessive, especially when the problem was already obvious (starter failure). In my experience, this was not a transparent or trustworthy transaction. I cannot recommend Westmount Auto or Omar's services to anyone. If you value honest pricing and clear communication, stay away. read more

Omar is extremely honest. I would explain the sign or symptom or describe a noise. He would have a pretty good idea. if not know what was the problem right away! He would also advise me if something was urgent to fix. Or how long I could wait for the other things that needed fixing. How many mechanics are that honest! He has so much experience first with working at a dealership then having his own business for many many yrs. I used to bring my vehicles to Omar because I knew without a doubt I could trust him. Now that I live outside of calgary. It's not that easy to get work done by Omar. But I still stop in to say hi. Or for advise. He even refers to reputable businesses if needed. If you need to book your vehicle in. He's worth the wait. Honestly I believe he works in perfection in his trade. I would very highly recommend Omar & WestMount Auto.! Always a pleasure rolling into this auto shop! Hadn't swung by in a while, so it was a treat to have my ride in the hands of the skilled technicians once again. Typically, I bring my vehicle in on weekdays when they are not too busy. Each time I've had a problem with my car I bring it here and they always have a solution. I have never felt like they have price gouged me and I feel the prices are reasonable considering the work that they do. I always feel important from the staff and they make a effort to answer the questions I have. I started visiting Westmount Auto Centre when I was running a fleet of vehicles through Calgary's 1st carshare service many years ago. We became fast friends, probably because I was in there just about every week with another vehicle. He is the kindest, most courteous person that I have ever met and I often think about him when I am in a customer service role myself. The fact that he is a mechanic and provides a service to me almost seems secondary in a way. I am sure he made tens of thousands off of the carshare service during my tenure and Omar is still a good deal at twice the price and that is just because of the customer service that he provides and the person that he is. I needed to get some repairs done on my car after I had my vehicle inspection completed. This business is right in my neighbourhood and I have stopped into their convenience store a number of times. The owner is an extremely kind, friendly guy and unlike the other reviewer, I had a great experience at Westmount. I needed to get my car fixed and didn't have a lot of time to wait, Omar was able to get my car in to be looked at the next day, and had the repairs done and my car back to me by the following day. I was also called, given an explanation of the repairs and provided a quote (which was pretty close to what I expected it would cost). When I went to pick it up, Omar explained the repairs and showed me the old parts he removed from my car. I really don't know anything about vehicles but I appreciated him taking the time to explain what work was done. I will go back to Westmount for anything I need to get done on my car, I like the idea of supporting a local business and I also appreciate being able to get my car looked at without having to wait days or weeks to get an appointment! read more

Lovely man. But when I told him I was having the vehicle towed in for either an ignition switch or a starter, he said OKAY. When I got there he said he had to run a full diagnostic for $135 to $165. I said, just change the ignition switch (I can change the starter if I was wrong.) He told me to take my business elsewhere. Please don't read between the lines, there was no anger or aggression of any type. I ended up towing it elsewhere...and it was the ignition switch. I like it when the customer pays for what they ask for. read more

The owner really took advantage of our lack of knowledge and charged us nearly three times what the job should have cost us and also replaced parts that I've since found out would never have needed replacing on a car of the age/wear involved. A simple job turned into well over 1200 dollars of work. I've since learned of others who've fallen victim to this place with similar stories. We trusted the owner and he basically fleeced us without a second thought. Terrible experience that left a terrible feeling. read more

I have visited this shop a few times over the years as it is convenient for my downtown job. I can leave the car there and walk to downtown. But the overwhelming reason I go there is defintely the owner, Omar. As one other reviewer noted, the man is a prince. Just kind and honest, and extremely qualified. I once took a Jeep vehicle to a Dodge dealership for an oil change and they phoned me and told me something was leaking in the engine and it would cost almost $3,000 to fix! In a complete panic I decided to ask Omar for a second opinion. He called me after looking at it and said there was absolutely no issue and nothing was leaking. And conversely I continued driving it problem free for years after. Couldn't believe the dealership lied to me. I actually have a real issue with a newer Jeep right now and I am going back to Omar. Honestly he is just the nicest guy you could ever meet. Highly recommended. read more
