There are so many wonderful people who work at High Gate! In the Memory Cottage, Amber, who apparently LIVES in the kitchen, is an example of an employee with standards so exemplary that I am continually astonished by her expertise at her job. She over-sees all kitchen activity and participates in everything that happens there. No easy task. It's not common to come by someone with the loyalty, pride and skill in a profession as demanding as Amber's. AND no matter how stressful the moment, this remarkable woman continues to greet my family with a warm and energetic smile. Layer up before admitting anyone to this facility, you'll need it! In the past 21 months, there…read morehave been 3 different administrators, each one worse than the last. All patients are treated as dementia patients, whether they have it or not. Lack of floor staff has been an ongoing problem; management is top heavy. The current administrator has been spreading unsubstantiated rumors about residents and staff.  When i tried to exercise my rites, they told me "You have no rites except the ones we allow you"; then when I argued with the currant administrator, she called law enforcement and had me taken in for a psychological evaluation, claiming she feared for her safety. They will threaten you and even place you on 24/7 surveillance, placing a staff member in your room to watch you, increasing the staff shortage. When I complained that I have a rite to privacy, I was told "no, you do not have a right to privacy". I was told I was not allowed to go to assisted living because of my emotional support dog; and I have heard from staff members that they started a rumor about him being vicious. Medications are not always on time, due to staffing shortages. The pharmacy used is out of Vancouver WA., and does not always send the medications or change orders without the nurse having to play 20 questions with them to get an answer. Meals leave something to be desired, and have been getting later than scheduled. Overall, I have been treated better in jail, I'm sad to say! I would give less stars, but this site will not allow.

Yes seen with my own eyes pouring him a pint for the day in the kitchen. Get your loved ones out NOW!! The place is underlying filthy, poop on walls and shower curtains, shut them up in rooms, leave then unattended for10-20minutes each meal, to run over to another house where food is made in the garage for the clients. The majority is pizza, sadly gross food. They don't like visitors (why? Afraid to be scene of wrong doing). They made my mom's elderly friends on the bus go back to their resthome because they didn't have an appointment to visit!! They were 85 & 80 made to cry the man was so nasty from the home. After that and pictures of many gross things came in from family who visited her, my fell hard. NO phone call to me or anyone, NO nurse (they say they have come check), her face black & blue, swollen, confused, in bed. Ending in hospital, brain bleed, dehydration, barely could walk. I from 2000 miles away made them call 911 hearing her beg me for help. She died 3 weeks later. Jeff Galagher, POS, I'm your worst enemy & you will be held accountable. Get your family out now!!
