We started at local belt-mill (ATA) and quickly realized our mistake, but contrary to a reply to…read moremy direct question about my ability to terminate a contract before signing it, ATA refused to do so. FYI, ATA uses deceptive sales practices and will tell you that you can quit any time, what they don't mention is that you have to move! After a good friend heard my story and recommended Impact I visited and was immediately impressed by what I saw. Instead of a bunch of little kids with advanced belts sitting around a candle meditating (ATA), I saw kids running, exercising, fighting, "YES SIR" responses expected, and my son was immediately excited about what he saw. It just so happened while I was there an original founder of the school happened to be present. When I told my story about ATA and still having almost 6 months to go on their contract that they refused to terminate, he suggested to the man currently running the school they allow my son to attend free for 6 months! Needless to say we took them up on their offer and some 9 years later are still there, need I say more!

Still a great place to train and a great community of families…read more Not only is there martial arts training (Cuong Nhu, a Vietnamese martial art), but also tai chi, kickboxing, Iyengar Yoga and now Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for both adults and kids with day and evening classes. The community that has been built at Unity is wonderful. It is such a positive environment for children and many of the kids that started as young children and trained through their teenage years are wonderful young adults by the time they graduate from high school and go on to be successful adults. There is some great character development that goes on in the dojo for these young people. I would definitely recommend if you are looking for a place for your child to train or even yourself.

Equipment is priced individually and can run up to $400. Contract is only for 6 months and I regret signing it. Such a waste of time and money. They are constantly trying to sell something. Here's why: Environment: As someone who was fairly new to boxing, going to a non-chain gym was a little intimidating. Even walking in was a little scary! But that feeling didn't last long - within minutes of me walking in I was being helped by instructors and students alike with my wrapping. These are definitely some of the friendliest and most welcoming people I know. Just downright nice people! Quality of workout: Throughout the class (Total Body Fitness) I felt like I was getting personal attention and that - most of all - I was learning how to box safely and with the right technique. The class was also HARD!!!! I am someone who likes fairly intense workouts, and this one left me out of breath and excited to come back. I also love that the gym offers an introductory boxing class for newbies so we can learn the proper form and technique.
