You can also watch online. They have Wednesday night Bible study on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm. There Highlands Kids program is great. This is one of the reasons I attend. My daughter loves going to her class on Sunday's. She learns about God and she receives a take home bag with the activities she did as well as reinforcement for at home.

Every service was closed by singing the Old Irish Blessing (May the Road Rise to Meet You), which was one of the most touching moments of the service. They also have "the discipline of silence" a moment of absolute quiet during the service to collect, reflect and pray. My husband and I jokingly call this an Episcopal-style Baptist church: they follow the lectionary, wear traditional robes and think. The old pastor, Jim Evans, used to write a column for the Birmingham Post Herald (before it went under and he went to Auburn) and has since been replaced since we moved away from the area.

The people are warm and inviting and you just feel you belong, and that is a precious thing to find. This church is a light house in this community and a blessing. I grew up there because it was a compromise between my Catholic mother and Presbyterian father. Worked out well for me. If you are a lawyer who practices downtown, you should probably become a member - for some reason, ex-lawyers seem to be half of the Episcopal priesthood. But it makes them good speakers, which makes sermons worthwhile. The Church has been very good to my family, when my kids were born, when my mother died, and now that my father is homebound. They are a good group of folks, and I really appreciate them. The Church is also associated with the Advent Episcopal School for 4K-8th grade, which is where my kids go. See that separate review, but it's a great school.
