The space is on a quiet street behind and auto store which my wife hated. She was not a fan at first until she started getting unprompted comprehensive reports about our sons day. I start getting text from her like "I really like this place". What I like most is that it is not a warehouse for kids with vouchers. There are lots of private pay kids which is important for a number of reasons. I don't like that there is no diversity here. There are really only black kids and I want my son to know there are more than just black people in the world. His friend circle is very multicultural so this environment is a let down in that regard. The teachers use the Kumon learning program and its all the rave. I can see a change in my son. He has become much more vocal and seems to really enjoy it now as he reaches for the teachers now as opposed to the routine meltdown. The inside is clean and organized and the staff are all professional. Plus,it is the least expensive daycare I have found given the caliber.

Gingerbread house lied and claimed my statements were untrue, but I have the email evidence to back…read moreme up: "I was informed on April the 25th that as of April 29th, Gingerbread House would no longer be able to provide care for my son Robert due to staffing issues. Even though they were the ones who terminated care, I was sent an invoice for the the week of the 29th. Due to the settings in the phone app the daycare uses to take payments (Brightwheel), I was unable to remove the automatic payment or payment method. I called and left a voice-mail the morning of Monday April 29th informing the daycare of the issue and requested they stop the payment. That call was never returned and the payment posted. After not hearing back from the daycare for a few days, I sent an email on Wednesday May 1st, detailing the issue and requesting they issue the refund and remove my children from their system. I finally received a response on May 2nd asking me to provide a Venmo or CashApp to their personal cell phone to have the money refunded, which I'm not comfortable with. I chose not to take the conversation to her personal cell phone, as that seems shady to me. I know that it is possible to post a refund through the Brightwheel app, as I have been in contact with them as well. They have reached out to her on my behalf, sending her the instructions on how to refund me and remove my children on her end. I replied to her email asking for her to refund through the Brightwheel app, and pointed out my children were still enrolled with autopay still on and asked again for her to turn this off and remove my children from her system. I have not received any response. On May 4th I was sent another invoice for the week of May 6th. I reached out through email again to attempt to get my refund and have her remove my children to stop invoicing me for care that is not being provided. My child is now at a new daycare altogether and she is still charging me for hers. Thankfully the support at Brightwheel were able to remove my method of payment, but as of right now, I still have an invoice for Gingerbread House this week and she has not responded to the Brightwheel support or me. The new daycare also uses Brighwheel, but I cannot add a payment method or I will get another fraudulent charge from this daycare. There is no excuse as to why nearly two weeks later this still hadn't been resolved." I have several emails from Brightwheel confirming she had not been responding to them either. She claimed she tried to reach out to me several times (she didn't), and even if that were true, she always had the ability to refund me through the app and remove my invoices from day one and she didn't. It wasn't till I wrote this review that she finally fixed the invoicing and claimed she refunded me (she didn't). It was still another week after that before I got my money back, and that was only through my dispute claim through my credit card company.

At The Children's House, they actually teach the kids, not just put them in a room to have "inside recess" all day. My kids come home with a sense of structure and organizational skills they crave. They put these skills into practice at home and often times ask for "jobs" to do around the house to help pick up or maybe help me put laundry away. The Children's House is set up like places in the real world too. For example, they eat in a cafeteria that is set up like a restaurant, they have a cinema room, etc. So my kids are learning how to behave when we are in public, and they are used to seeing these different places that may not be day-to-day for us. At the other places, it just seemed like managed chaos and it was reflecting in my kids behavior. We have had far fewer outbursts, temper tantrums, and melt downs. I believe it was because the other places were not structured with activities, lesson plans, and play time. At the other places, I felt as though the kids were left to make their own rules all day long and they would come home with that mentality. I highly recommend The Children's House if you are seeking to have your kid(s) in a learning environment. My preschooler can count to 100 by 5's, 10's and 20's. She is doing basic math (ex. 2+2+2=6), and is trying to phonetically read. She is only enrolled for 2 days a week and these are the results we are getting. The pickup and drop-off traffic can be pretty crazy, so I usually just park across the street in the overflow lot and walk over. Much easier than waiting in line. This preschool has a lottery to enroll. I have no idea if that is really common these days, but I was surprised. Luckily we made it in. As long as one sibling is enrolled then other siblings can enroll too and bypass the lottery. They offer 2-day and 3-day with morning or afternoon start times. The 2-day is Monday and Friday. My 15 month old was in this program from August until September. We had multiple issues. Despite…read moremultiple complaints of our son being dehydrated after the school day, they continued to keep his drinks up on a shelf without access to it. They were logging multiple dry diapers, but still did not seem to understand how important it is to offer fluids constantly to a toddler. Every time my husband and I came in at different times and no drinks were available to any of the children. He would come home and guzzle 13 ounces of milk in one sitting. He seemed less like himself when he came home and very fussy. The first time I complained then they told me he didn't like the cups and wouldn't drink out of them! I was shocked that I wasn't notified and instantly provided cups. The second time they assured me that they would offer his drink more and said they realized he was trying to reach his cup and did pull it down for him. However, after a couple of days, he would come home thirsty again and water bottles that had been filled for him would come home untouched (despite dry diapers on the app). Also, there were a couple times, he had a dirty diaper when arriving and a diaper rash after being there. Additionally, after picking my child up and having no notification, I saw he had been bitten twice very severely on his forearm and by the back of the elbow. An incident report conveniently was made after I called. However, when I spoke to the teacher she said she was so sorry and hadn't noticed anything (how could there be an incident report then and how could you not notice his screaming/crying). The teachers would be playing rap music when I arrived or my husband arrived and would quickly change it to pop music (still not age appropriate!). They have closed once already due to shortage of staff. I do believe management has the best intentions, but I don't think there is follow through with the staff. We had no curriculum updates and the food menu wasn't posted for the majority of the time. Unfortunately, we paid a lot for this program and felt that it didn't meet the standards it claimed, and that our son suffered from being there.
