It's far enough from Cottage Grove Rd to be quiet. I'd call it a quaint park. Unfortunately, there aren't many big trees around to provide shade. The playground set is completely exposed to the sun, as are the benches. Any children and parents visiting this park may find themselves rather uncomfortable on a hot day. I didn't see any water fountains either, which wouldn't help matters. There is a full basketball court, but it doesn't appear to be lined. It also lacks shade so there may be better options unless you're just up for some quick practice. Like most public parks in Madison, no dogs allowed.

With 11 acres of fenced in space to rub and enjoy, Quann parks is one of the biggest and best dog parks I've ever been to. There's plenty of space for all the dogs to spread out and enjoy or to play together based on their activity level! I've been here at least a dozen times, with my dog and dogs we've dog sat! I'm excited for spring and the weather to warm up! It's important to note, it's best to access the park near E Olin Ave or John Nolen Dr. And to turn onto Expo way. In the summer, we don't usually go to the fields, though. My dog gets allergies pretty badly, and the grasses here really seem to irritate her especially badly. But she will swim and play fetch in the river for as long as we will let her. The opposite side of the river is not fenced, so if your dog is prone to escaping or getting distracted by things on the other side, this may not work for you, but our pup loves it and always comes back. The other dogs here have all been really friendly. We also almost always find a ball to play with if we forget our own. There are a couple of benches and picnic tables, although they're often covered in muddy dog footprints. My only real complaint is that this place requires a daily or annual fee. I think all city dogs should be able to run around (and pet owners already have to pay to register their pets), so it would be nice if they dropped the fee or made it sliding scale.

There is ample space in this park. My dogs and I typically come here right after work on the weekdays. It's not terribly busy and we see a good mix of dogs come and go. Generally, I've found the dog owners to be pretty nice and considerate. I feel like my dog is always a troublemaker because she is just a very loud dog. She has good intentions, but poor execution. Anyway, people have been super understanding of her craziness. I like the location. Sometimes, I'll walk them along the lake first, then go to the park. Other times, I'll stay on the streets and walk here. Overall, it's convenient if you live around the square.

I wish I could say more good things about this park. It could really be a great place. It has a…read morenice splash pad, a playground and a shelter area with restrooms and picnic tables. However, we have had enough bad experiences there that we don't visit it anymore. There is always broken glass and trash around the shelter. People often smoke in or around the shelter; sometimes even in the restrooms. At times people blast music in or near the shelter so that you have to endure ear-splitting noise if you need to use the bathroom. Anyway, in short this is a lovely place that is spoiled by the people who use it.
