Cracking pub with lovely food!…read more This pub dates back to the 11th century when it was an old coaching inn and you can still see this part of the building being used today. Although it looks quite large from the outside, the dining areas inside are all quite small, with no more than 4 or 5 tables in each little area giving a cosy and more personal feel. The menu is varied and a bit above bog standard pub food. They also offer a £3.95 menu which is smaller (though the portions aren't!), but still plenty of choices and a good option for those watching their budget. Sunday dinner is served every day and is always delicious. I've only ever been there during the day time, but I've seen adverts for live bands in the evenings and from friends that it's a top night out!

We used to have meals at "The Peacock" fairly regulary but over the last year it has gone a bit down hill. The decor, layout and food choice hasn't really changed from the previous review but i get really annoyed when food and drinks are not hot. The coffee has to be drunk straight away because it is served at 'drink now' temperature and some (not all) of the food is only warm. I like to enjoy my food at my pace of eating, not gobble it down before it gets any colder. Although this is a lovely old coaching inn with original beams etc and a skeleton in the cellar which you can observe through a glass panel in the floor, it is now not a pub that we will visit again.
