Surfing, rocky cliffs, countless beaches and of course, avocado toast. That is the theme of these tiny beach towns here, which present a very low key and slower version of Aussie life than its neighboring city.
Whale Beach Deli might actually be the only restaurant located in whale beach area. Generally, when you are the only one at something, you don't have to try too hard. It's surfy wood planks, it's chill atmosphere and plenty of healthy options make it a solid spot for breakfast or dinner. There is some outdoor seating near the road that does not get too busy most times of the day.
As far as the food, the avocado toast was decent. Very heavy on bread relative to avocado, it was not an amazing preparation, but did the job. The avocado is also largely put on the bread as it is, with minimal adds of lime juice or spices. It's simple and generally, just fine. A highlight of the meal was the fresh kombucha, which is served quite nicely in a tumbler glass with a slice of fresh fruit.
I can't say Whale Beach Deli has given flavors to return or crave. It's a decent place, it's a neighborhood hangout and it's generally, not bad. read more
