It's very short, about .5 miles and there's virtually no elevation. Parking is right off the highway. Some hike deeper into the forest and actually make their way on top of the bridges. Unfortunately some have also died doing so. Know your limits. There is a trail beyond the paved path and at some point it gets very steep and sketchy. This is where you should stop and turn around. It's best to enjoy these bridges from a distance and find much safer hikes to take which there are many of in this area. Happy hiking!

I visited Crescent City on at least three other occasions and never made it out there. The lighthouse is wonderfully preserved with historically accurate fixtures and a tour by helpful docents. Although no longer officially in service the Del Norte County Historical Society continues to provide docents and lighthouse keepers. Give them a donation.

Jerry's Rogue River Museum and Gift Shop are in a building near the boarding area for the fantastic 5-star Jerry's Rogue Jets tours. Both the museum and gift shop are a-ok though neither is really amazing either. We came for the museum and it was a quick distraction with a couple rooms decorated with photographs, infographics, and stuffed-animal displays about the fish, birds, wildlife, and history of the Rogue River. Kudos to those that invested the time and energy to put the exhibits together. Rounding up to a generous 4 stars because there probably aren't many other free options for quickly learning a bit about the history of the area.

We passed by some of the most beautiful beaches along the coastline including Pelican State Beach (known as one of the loneliest beaches in California) just some 21-mi North of Crescent City. We didn't stop here. Then there's the only supermax facility that housed the most dangerous maximum security men offenders... Pelican Bay State Prison, (13 miles from the Oregon/California Border). For sure we didn't stop here. LoL After crossing the stateline the first city on the Oregon side is Brookings in Curry County. Brookings is a small town just over the California border on the west Oregon coast. I believe the first building we passed by was a dispensary establishment called Stateline Cannabis. LoL Anyway, entering the Samuel H Boardman State Scenic Corridor we chose to stop at some of the scenic spots along the coast: Lone Ranch Beach - lots of scenic sea stacks and offshore rocks visible from the beach. Natural Bridges Viewpoint - at this viewpoint there's not only one but TWO natural sea arches! Oooh! Aaaaah! So pretty! Whaleshead Viewpoint - the rock formation looks like a whale. Overgrown trees were blocking the view of the "tail." There's a beach and coast trail access from this viewpoint. Current gas prices at Fred Meyer's in Brookings was $4.06/gal. Top 5 favorite campground in our 7 years of RV travel!…read more One of the nicer state parks in Oregon. Clean sites, clean bathrooms, and private showers. Trash cans are every few sites so it makes it so much easier to keep things tidy for campers. They sell firewood and have nice large fire rings. There are so many trees and some sites have perfectly spaced trees so you can put up a hammock. There are a lot of park rangers on site. I noticed that they don't hesitate to address issues as they arise. You can walk to the beach from the campsite. It is a steep decent down a long driveway or you can take a questionable walking path to the rocks below. I recommend driving from your campsite to the beach parking lot. As for supplies, you are only a few miles away from a Fred Meyer grocery store. The town of Brookings has options if you need anything while staying here. There is a lot to do in the area so several days here isn't a bad idea. Lovely beaches, plenty of hiking options, small towns, redwoods....what more can you ask for?

There was a Tsunami wave that hit Crescent City in 2011 that did damage to the harbor. They have really put the money they got to good use. It's neat to walk around and check out the big fishing boats and even the crab pots while there are signs that tell you about the harbor. We come here because it's safe and clean, my wife used the public restroom while we were there and she said they were very clean, like I said there were people on bike , kids playing catch with a football , the cars were driving slow. We enjoyed our stop into the harbor and we look forward to coming back soon, highly recommend

AMAZING PLACE TO VISIT!!…read more During my first visit to Crescent City I also got to experience my first visits to the Redwood National & State Park. Day 1 - Jedediah Smith State Park & Stout Memorial Grove, and Day 2 - Mill Creek Trails & Grove of Titans. Mill Creek Trails & Grove of Titans was the best experience of the the trip as he walked and hiked through through the Trails surrounded by the dense forest all around us. The entire area was a beautiful site as we got to experience all of the enormous Giant Redwoods all around us. And the Grove of Giants was an absolute sight to see. Overall: Definitely a must see when in the local area, to experience an amazingly preserved part of California's coast and forest beauty.

The Patterson Bridge carries U.S. Route 101 across the Rogue River, near the point where the river empties into the Pacific Ocean, and connects the towns of Gold Beach and Wedderburn. Driving along Highway 101 between Medford and Grant's Pass, it is difficult not to cast an admiring glance towards the majestic bridge build in 1932 and incorporating a strong Art Deco influence. Park at the Port of Gold Beach near the Mary D. Hume shipwreck & walk the path along the river's edge. This will give you a great vantage point of the bridge and good camera angles too. Here you can drink in the beauty of the bridge up close and see swallows building their nests under the bridge; sea lions swimming by; birds diving for fish and salmon fisherman hoping to get lucky. Due to the elements, the Rogue River Bridge has required much preventive maintenance. The bridge needs consistent mitigation due to deterioration from the location's salt air. A $20 million rehabilitation ran from 2001 to 2004. A previous project in 1976 mitigated scouring problems at pier 2. Here's hoping this transport's beauty never fades. 5 YELP STARS.

Trails were not hard at all, some cool art pieces, and a huge gift shop at the end. We got to ride the gondola and it was a bit scary when it stopped halfway through, but that was just to load the next riders. It's a breath taking view once you get past the clouds. I didn't finish the rope bridges, but I did about 3 of them and felt totally safe the whole time. It was a nice place to be in for a few hours, and it was about an hour drive away from Humboldt. I would reserve about 3-5 hours of your day to see it all. Would love to come back with friends or family!
