Pulled into Hondo on a Wednesday night and the place was quieter than a library at midnight. Streets empty, sky stretching forever, and then like a beacon of sanity the orange and white of Whataburger came into view. Inside had its own charm. A few locals tucked into fries, a pair of lads by the window treating Dr Peppers like proper pints, and a cowboy tapping his boots to the radio like he owned the place. It was no steakhouse, but it had character. I ordered the Bacon Wrangler. Hot, heavy, and stacked like it had something to prove. Two beef patties, bacon crisp enough to snap, cheese melting into the lot, onion strings giving it crunch, and that chipotle sauce tying it all together. It was not just food, it was rescue in a paper wrapper. The service was exactly what you want at 9pm in small-town Texas. Quick, polite, and straight to the point. No nonsense, no waiting about. On my way back to the car I spotted a scruffy cat by the dumpster. Looked like it had seen better days, but it carried itself like it still owned the night. Reminded me that at some point we are all that cat, a little worn down, just trying to find our next meal and a warm spot to rest. read more

This place used to always be fast but last several visits I've waited well beyond the "ready by time" when I order on the app. I'll give them one more try this morning, but there is another WB down the highway from my normal travel route. The food here is always hot and delicious!!! The service is always beyond top tier. The staff is always welcoming and smiling. The ambiance is great. The music is always at a great volume. I've enjoyed the chicken tenders,fries, shake and their grilled chicken sandwich is delicious I'm definitely returning!!! read more

Usually pretty good but they do have a problem of mixing up or simply incorrectly making an order.

Ever since the majority owners of the franchise sold to investors in Chicago, the food has been on the weak side. I mean, how are y'all even able to serve cold fries on a busy night? That's just crazy. Everything else has been okay, but I don't look forward to getting a quick meal from these places anymore. read more

Every Texan loves Whataburger, but unfortunately this one had pretty poor/slow service, and once our food was brought out to the drive-thru lane B, half of it was missing. Of course, we were already on the road before we realized this. It was only 2 breakfast meals and both were missing the hash browns, so we were jipped half the meal but paid full price. Accidents happen, but if you are so busy that you have to utilize 2 drive thru lanes, you should double check the orders you bring to those folks. read more

Horrible customer service. Calling corporate based on how i was treated. First off I wait in the drive through for so long. Then get my food and it's missing stuff. Called the store two girls answered I proceeded to talk and they hung up in my face. Twice. Ignorant little girls. read more

I was passing through Hondo TX around 2:00 pm and hadn't eaten lunch yet. I pulled into the drive through and was pleasantly surprised to be greeted at that late lunch hour by an employee with a tablet to take my order. She offered me a menu with the invitation to ask any questions I had. She was super friendly, cheerful, and efficient. I pulled forward and got my food pretty quickly. I was again surprised to get hot and fresh fries and patty melt. It was delicious. At 2:00 in the afternoon I wasn't expecting much more than quelling my hunger but this What-a-burger did a great job. Thanks y'all! read more

Definitely has some issues but the food was good. Probably need some older folks there supervising the younger ones. Taking my other post off because it was a bit harsh. True, but harsh. They will get it together, I'm sure. read more

Not sure if it's the people working here or just the company in general the burgers here are not what they used to be. Prices are up, portion sizes are down, food is always cold and they barely dress the burger that is supposedly "all the way". Miss this place, find a better Whataburger, they're out there. read more

Fast friendly service. Chocolate malt was better than any whataburger I have been to and believe its a lot since it's the only fast food place I like. The employees were friendly and the food was really hot. Another delicious whataburger. read more
