If a contractor who does your roof only interleaves new shingles over valleys in the roof but does not put a vapor barrier down underneath it with a metal cap or cap the edges of the roof with 3 inch layer of metal, you are being screwed over! I have seen many new homes built this way and they will all need to be serviced at some point because of it. These do not comply with best practices in roofing or the building codes for the county, most importantly of all these are improper means of building a roof in the PNW, one of the dampest and most snow laden areas of North America. I had to call in NSS because of contractor negligence.
