The title of this Yelp listing is a little deceiving. Yes, there is a gift shop here. But Wheeling Artisan Center is also a venue with a little gallery upstairs and a restaurant downstairs. The gift shop is great. There are lots of Wheeling- and West Virginia-related items to purchase. I was looking for some kind of Mothman something-or-other, and I found a few cool cryptid knickknacks. I've said it before and I'll say it again: West Virginians love their cryptids and myths, and I love it. The gift shop also had lots of clothing, soaps, durable edible goods, art and other things. There's a restaurant inside the Wheeling Artisan Center, but it looked closed when we visited. Upstairs, there's a gallery with historic Wheeling items on display. You can learn about things that were made or originated in Wheeling, like Bayer aspirin, Mail Pouch Tobacco signs, and even a type of cigar. It's fun to peruse while you're in the area, and it's also free to visit. read more

This is a beautiful place, and you can find all kinds of things there for your loved ones when you want to bring them something of value. They also have some information about the history of the town. So this is also something great to see. I saw that they are doing some renovations, so this should only get better love time. read more

This is a great place to shop for locally made artisan goods like spices, chocolates, shirts, candles, soaps, and art. My hubby and I really enjoyed looking at everything. We ended up with a candle and some chocolate. The woman helping us was really nice and suggested some places to check out while visiting the area. Will definitely stop by there when we're in Wheeling again. read more

I drove from Pittsburgh to shop here but they were closed. I called the phone number and talked to a very nice lady and told her my predicament. She opened the shop just for me and allowed me to take as much time as I needed. The shop has lots of great merchandise and different items if you are gift shopping. Highly recommend. read more

Moved from Florida to Wheeling and it really is the friendly city and is most represented by The Artisan Center where local artists under the new manager,Jenna, has become a visual delight. Spent two nights going to the Artisan. First Friday night for a rehearsal dinner and Saturday for the wedding. Friday night we had drinks and apps at the bar. The seared Tuna was delicious and the service was great. Cool atmosphere. Then upstairs to practice for wedding and dinner. I ordered gnocchi which weren't very good but my wife had the steak and enjoyed it. Next night was the wedding. Very cool venue to have a wedding at. Service was great and food was good. I would recommend this place for weddings or just to have drinks downstairs at the bar. read more
