THEY CLOSE AT 4pm, not 4:30pm on Saturdays. Yelp has it wrong! Until my last experience (the Saturday before Easter), I've had fairly good experiences here. However, after spending over an hour in the car to try to get here from my aunt's house in Greenville, I was rudely yelled at by the owner when entering the store. "We close in 6 minutes!!!" This was the beginning of the end for me... I live in Houston so I only get to come here when I'm in town visiting family or if I make a special trip to come stock up on fabric. I happened to be in town the weekend of Easter and tried to come here on the Friday before Easter, only to find a handwritten sign on the door that they were closed (for Good Friday) and would be open again the next day. That was a bummer, but I asked my husband if we could try to come back on Saturday as I bought fabric from here previously and I needed more of it. My family in the area lives in Greenville, so it was quite a drive to get here from their house. I saw here on Yelp that they close at 4:30pm, so we rushed and I ended up walking in 6 minutes to 4pm. How do I know this? Because as soon as I walked in, the owner screamed "we close in 6 minutes!!!" at me. I responded, "online says 4:30pm and I'm from out of town". She rudely replied "well online is wrong - we've tried to fix it but it's wrong". I rushed to grab my fabric and with 2 minutes left to 4pm, she yelled from the front "are you ready to check out?!" They had already rushed everyone else (all 2 other people) out the door and I was the only one left. Listen, I get that it was a Saturday and you're trying to go home....but you weren't open the day before due to a holiday and you now have a customer in front of you who's ready to spend money and also told you that she's in from out of town... To be treated so rudely, by the OWNER, nonetheless, is absolutely unacceptable. Next time I'm in town, I'm sticking to spending my money at the other 3 fabric warehouses next door as I will NOT be coming back to this place. read more

Great prices... clean store... bad customer service. Today WOULD have been my third visit, except I was RUSHED out the door and told they were closed.. 10 minutes before they actually closed. Then the rude lady who pushed me out the door felt the need to correct me and say it was 5 minutes until closing, and that they didn't have any customers so they were closing early.. It wouldn't be a big deal but I sat in over an hour of traffic to get there and really needed 20 yards of fabric to finish a project that is to install tomorrow. Great fabrics, rudeness when I asked for a bathroom, no bathroom at this public establishment. Odd.

I made sure to check the hours before showing up. Admittedly I had no choice but to show up 20 minutes before closing. I was in and out in 10 minutes! I walked in, was greeted, described my needs (shimmery fabric with a little stretch, gold color), and was shown multiple options. I ended being shown a golden silk stretch material that was so soft. I got two yards for no more than $16 and was able to bring it all home in a little baggie. I appreciated the customer service and how I saved money buying here than other places. read more

My experience was fabulous. Tons of selections and great customer service. They pointed me in the right direction and then came over to see if I needed assistance. I am new to sewing and happened to ask the owner a question in regards with what I needed, she made sure to show me every options applicable to my project and some stuff that I head not even heard of before. The rest of the staff were as helpful and super friendly, the nicest people you would ever meet. Everything's organized so neatly, there are signs all over the warehouse informing customers of the types of fabric and the price, there are also signs informing customers of the rules applied at the warehouse such as what can be taken to the front desk and what needs to be handled by the staff, which items won't be cut for the clients, which items are final sell and so on. I entered the warehouse in awe of all sorts of fabric, stones, and everything one could imagine needed for a sewing project. I left the warehouse with the texture and color fabric that I needed, and a lot of positive energy. It is nice to enter a place where not only you get to buy what you need but also benefit from the knowledge of the staff and their experience. If you enjoy sewing, then you may find this warehouse a heaven. The prices were reasonable and many items were on sell. I know that I'd be visiting wherehouse fabric outlet again in future. read more

Horrible customer service. I drove up from NewBraunfels and was so excited to come and shop here. We were not greeted. The staff were visiting with themselves and did not even acknowledge us. We started oohing over the trim. I asked to use the restroom. I was rudely informed that they had NO public restroom. And then she gestured to the sign. I said "ma'am I understand you don't want people walking in off the street using your restrooms. But you don't have any for your customers? She literally looked down her nose at me and said No. Just No. " I grabbed my cousin and left. Went to the other fabric stores and spent our $1400. there. I should have known when people don't know how to spell "Warehouse " it would be a let down. Rude. Sad because they seemed like they had a nice selection. This shop is a great place to find fabric for less than a 1/4th of craft store prices.. you are coming for the selection and reasonable prices employees are nice, a comment mentioned before they were rude but it's just because of language barrier.. come in.. know what you are looking for, ask, then go.. that is how it is everywhere non chain craft stores if you are looking for employees to be breathing down your neck burdening you with questions the whole time go to your local joaans and pay x10 for the same stuff love these ladies, love this place. totally recommend read more

There isn't much to say except the fabric is beautiful and at great low prices. Keep in mind this is literally a warehouse. It's a HUGE warehouse! They sell both apparel and interior design (i.e. fabric to make curtains, upholstery, pillow) fabric. However I only looked at the apparel fabric so I can't speak about the other big rooms there. The apparel fabric is unique, high quality, and there is a much larger selection than the retail store Jo-Ann Fabric and Crafts. DO NOT FORGET to go to the very back to look in the remnants section. The fabric is $2.50 a yard. The fabric in those four long tables is worth the trip alone. However, because this is a wholesale store, do not expect to find expensive, never go out of style fabric such as, pure white linen. If you are looking for apparel fabric this is the place for you. read more

Good selection of upholstery fabrics at low prices. Small group of quilting fabric, but no apparel fabrics -- unless you're making something for the Holly Hobby crowd. It's pretty easy to go walk through the aisles to find the color, print, etc that you seek. If it matters, they had a lovely ikat print. The upholstery fabrics on rolls (with some yardage) were in the $7-$9 range. There's a big clearance table of smaller yardages at smaller prices. Outdoor fabric was $13. I'll definitely be back -- these prices beat most online retailers. Nice staff. Only one driveway on Harry Hines to get in and out. read more

Not all fabrics are made equally. I found that the fabric prices are cheaper, but the quality of the fabrics are much lower as well. The cotton broadcloth type fabrics used for quilting are very thin and gauze-like. All of the bulk spool threads may be a few bucks, but they are polyester threads. Good place to go to find cheap stuff for crafts, but not quality enough for quilting. read more

I got some great deals here off of their sale racks. They have some where if you buy the whole bolt, its $1.50 per yard. We picked up a couple of bolts for dirt cheap off there. We walked out with an insane amount of fabric, thread and buttons for lesson than $30 (we're talking over $30 yds here). That's an insane deal! read more

Best Fabric place on the street! They have AC and SUPER nice owner!!!! I needed upholstery foam for my father-in-law's chair and local stores, if they had it, wanted $100 for a smaller, less dense foam than I wanted. I knew of the fabric stores on Perth and called Wherehouse, they had one piece left and held it for me. for a 5" deep high density upholstery foam 36x60 I paid $40!!! The owner was a sweet man and when I told him what it was for, he offered to cut it to fit. They have industrial cutters, I have kitchen scissors! So... I got a piece to fit the chair AND enough foam to cut an additional one if the first one gets worn out. He told me to bring it back to him and he would cut it for me again! Also, I purchased 18 x18 DOWN pillow inserts for $8.99 EACH!!!! Bed Bath and Beyond charges at least DOUBLE that! I will be back for my next curtain project! You might want to pack heat if you have a CHL, this is not the best neighborhood! read more

We had SO much fun here. They have a huge and affordably priced selection. We found beautiful stretch laces for 15 cents (inch wide) to $1.99 per yard (8 inch wide). We also picked up some great apparel fabric at $4/yd. Staff is super nice and friendly, and there is a huge selection of fabrics, although they're not "dirt cheap" as I had expected! Large linen selection, which I was happy about, but the linens cost about $15-16/yard, so online shopping may ultimately be cheaper for some. The staff cut the fabric off the roll and not on a table unless you bring over your fabrics to them, so just keep that in mind! The sale rack is fairly large but disorganized, but at $5/yard for all sale it's worth it to check! read more

These stores sell a great variety of interesting and quality upholstery fabric with a knowledgeable, experienced staff but where they really stand out is with stunning trim. I've shopped here for 20+ years (through changes of ownership) and I have yet to find any fabric store in the US that stocks the amazing variety of interesting, high quality trim that you can find here at exceptionally good prices. I went looking for apparel Fabrics. They have an entire room with bins of low-priced yardage. Most of it is synthetic, cheap, and just piled, you have to dig. I found about four pieces cute prints, $3 a yard. Well, you get what you pay for. They weren't colorfast. Although I washed in cold water, the dye ran. Ruined, so complete waste of money. If you buy apparel fabric here, don't plan on washing it in your machine. This place is a better source for home dec fabrics. read more

Your staff needs to learn better customer service. Maybe the employee was having a bad day, maybe he was hungry, or maybe he was dehydrated? Who knows? Doesn't mean he had the right to be rude to my mother who asked him to cut some fabric and told her, "Where did you get your measurements?! They're wrong!" Ahem. Excuse me? Her measurements were spot on and after cutting the fabric at home today, we are left with a little extra fabric. She was smart enough to not purchase fabric from there after his rude attitude. I don't tolerate when people are rude to my family or friends, especially since I have worked in customer service for 10+ years. BE KIND. It's not that difficult. read more

Love the fabric selection at Wherehouse Fabrics. Cottons, knits, denim and sheer fabrics.

This place requires a decent amount of time to shop, but it is worth the effort. The fabrics are organized in piles on tables, according to price. You have to dig to find the good stuff, but every once in a while there's an awesome deal to be had. A friend walked away with a mislabeled bolt of silk duchess satin for $1/yard (it was marked as "lining"), and silk/cotton blends for $3/yard. Recently, they've started carrying decent-quality poly taffetas for $2/yard, which makes my taffeta-addicted heart super happy. Definitely a place worth checking out! read more

I was looking to re-upholster my headboard and needed fabric. I visited a few stores and a lot of them were just too pricey. I decided to visit the Wherehouse Fabric Outlet and absolutely loved it. There were so many options, I will definitely go back when I need more. I bought close to 5 yards of fabric for exactly $12.99. The only reason I did not give them 5 stars is because of the young woman who checked me out. She was extremely rude, did not greet me, did not thank me for visiting, did not even make eye contact with me and was texting the ENTIRE time she was checking me out.
