I would give it five stars but we did not know how many motorcyclists and quad riders there would be. We went to get away from the noise and sometimes the noise from the bikes and atvs were too much for our dogs. The staff at the main office is amazing and scooped up the best ice cream! I would like to come back next year with maybe a different site number.

Both the price and…read moreamenities are better than the two RV campgrounds on beach in Parksville and it is right beside the main community beach park where all events happen. In fact, you can get a gate key to short-cut the access the park and its sandy beaches. It has a fabulous gravelled beach walk that goes around the outside of the resort on the ocean and the estuary. We didn't use the pool or the hot tub but they seemed to be well used. The main club house had a pool table and there was an ice cream social while we were there. Also Name That Tune and karaoke. Horseshoe pits, lawn bowling, and plenty of chairs and picnic tables in the common area in front of the beach. In front is a large gravel protrusion into the ocean with lots of driftwood to build forts. Tennis and pickleball courts also appear well maintained. There are several clubhouses with bathrooms, showers, laundry and games rooms. All were extremely clean and up to date. $2 a wash and $2 to dry. One time we were camped amongst RV's with no view. Once right next to the estuary and the third time next to the estuary and with a view of the sunset over the Parksville Community Beach. This will continue to be our retreat during renovations or where we will recommend for our friends who visit.

What sets this little park from the rest is the peace and tranquility I felt there. As an older woman camping alone, I felt completely safe. The permanent residents next door, Dennis and his wife, add a personal touch every day with little gifts of welcome. A most rewarding experience.

My husband and I stayed two nights with our son and his family and at $1400 you would hope to at least have a good night's sleep but those who were on the pull-out slept terribly. Definitely over-priced! We stayed Sept. 27th and 28th and on the 27th the pool was very cool and the hot tub was barely tepid, at best, to the point where we thought they were hoping no one would want to use them near the end of their season. They heated them both for the second day after it was pointed out that they were cold, especially the lack of heat in the "hot" tub. The cottage toilet is in the same area as the whirlpool tub, so if you want to use the washroom while someone is having a nice bath, or are giving kids a bath, you have to go to the public washrooms. Perhaps there could be a bit of a renovation so the toilet is separate?

We met some of the nicest people who are their tenants. We stayed on night before the Vancouver Island music Festival in the back of the camp ground near the river in a power and water serviced site. It has Beautiful large trees with an open grass field in that area. Not sure about the bathrooms etc as we were not there long enough other than the dump station is accessible with a large rv. As they support many less fortunate in the area and have apparently done so for years, I would encourage more rvers to stay there to help this business.

This campground used to have quite the atmosphere back in the 80s-90s. It was was full of Americans…read morethat had come up to fish for Salmon, all with CB handles like "The Mayor", "Silver Fox", "Wounded Knee", "Salty Dog", "Cracker Jack", "Big Dud", "Wounded Knee" with the occasional Canadian "Prairie Rattler". It was always well kept and tidy with laundry and shower facilities. Across the highway there were numerous boats sitting on logs that were lifted in and out of the water with a seasoned forklift(gone for some time now). Last time I was in the area I drove through the campground and it was just like going back in time, mostly everything looked untouched and still in great shape. It's a shame that the Salmon fishing atmosphere is long since gone and the campground has no website to promote themselves. There's a nice bridge to cross and you can go further down stream for a better look at the area. The higher falls are a further walk but are worth it! The walk isn't tough and the trail well kept. There's a series of falls and different look out points along the way. Very beautiful!
