I have had 3 different friends who have left here significantly "intoxicated" after barely any drinks. I have heard that this bar is known for people blacking out. We drink responsibly so it makes me question the people attending. I would recommend watching your drink being made and keep your hand over your beverage at all times. The bartenders are OK. There is a gentleman bartender with a reddish beard on the first floor who is pretty good and he kicks people out if not dressed out appropriately. He also makes a good drink. The bar is tiny and they fill it to over capacity limits. My friend who's 23 years old had a ridiculously hard time getting in because the bouncers were incompetent at their job, and claimed his ID was fake. Against my better judgment I set foot in this disgusting and racist establishment recently. There were approximately 8 customers in addition to my boyfriend and I when we walked in. It took about 5 minutes before any acknowledgment from one of the two bartenders. Once acknowledged we each ordered draft beverages. It was approximately 8:30pm and we were served in plastic cups. Ya know, the kind you're served in when it's a super busy, standing room only and they don't want glasses breaking on the floor. Ok, so we were served in those plastic cups. Looking around the bar, everyone else is served in glasses...real, actual glass glasses. From mixed drinks to drafts ...so my question, is it customary to serve the interracial couple in plastic cups? Makes you wonder. I wanted to ask the bartender but didn't feel like they have had the intellect to respond to the question in a respectful manner. This is one place that I would never recommend for anyone to go. Service sucked and the glass vs. plastic thing combined with the the previous...really make you wonder. If I could post this with 0 stars I would, but unfortunately I need to put something. I went in Thursday, May 18th, the place was dead and I met a couple of girls at the bar. I wanted to buy them a drink but their drinks were not yet empty. I asked the girl behind the nard to charge my card and provide the drinks when they were needed. She disappeared with my card and never came back. I called her over and stated what was the deal; she stated the girls were not ready for a drink and she was holding my card. I simply said charge the drinks now and when the girls are ready to bring the next round of drinks, she then threw my card at me on the bar and walked away....FIRE THIS DIPSHIT as she is hurting your business. I stopped in here late night to use the bathroom and grab a beer. The bartender was rude and looked at the group I was with as if we weren't welcomed. As my friends felt the same after we finished our beers as quick as possible to just get out of here. The music was so loud and obnoxious that we couldn't have a conversation without yelling to each other. I'm sure it's great if you're looking for a place to dance and feel unwelcomed. It's seems it may be geared more twards a college croud. I was severely disappointed when I looked at their specials list. The place is called whiskey on water, their whiskey of the week was Jameson. To me a that seems a little generic. Hopefully I can stop in here again sometime and have a better experience. The good side of things the bar was clean and so we're the restrooms. To add I'd like to see a little more creativity from them as far as drink specials or weekly whiskeys, there's so much to choose from these days that picking the regular most popular whiskey shouldn't have to be a thing. I will visit again and give an update on what I find but it won't be for a while. read more

My friends and I come here pretty often. We are a fan of the upstairs dance area, although lately the music hasn't been too good. The male bartender upstairs provided quick service and was very helpful. The drinks he made were also very good, they weren't watered down like other places make them to be. There is also a more low key area downstairs, where they sometimes have live music. A major downfall to this place is that there's only a one stall bathroom upstairs and when you go downstairs to try the other one, they won't let you back up, so you have to suffer staying on a long line for that one stall. Despite the bathroom issue, overall I would say this is one of the better bars to go to in the Worcester area read more

Great spot, the Erlich brothers are proving that they are willing to take big risks in the Canal District adding this excellent spot to their flagship sports bar and pub, The Perfect Game. My only regret is that this place will draw some of the hipster douchebags away from the Armsby Abbey where they all sit around contemplating whether Moby will make a new album and whether it's ever ok to have an oatmeal stout with dinner. I went to the bar last night for the first time, and had my worst experience by far in Worcester. Upon giving the bouncer my driver's license, he proceeded to snap it in half claiming he had to "bend it to make sure it's authentic" as it was not a US based ID. Additionally, they tried to play it off as if it were nothing, and the on-site (for rent) cop at the bar made a racist comment in regards to my background. As I tried to talk to someone responsible and of a managerial capacity, I was completely rebuffed and had the bouncer who snapped my ID laughing at my expense. I've never felt so disrespected and discriminated against in my life. This lack of cultural sensitivity did not bother me as much as the lack of accountability and being kicked out afterward for merely wanting to seek compensation. I've been attempting to call them all day today and there's been no response. read more

This place posted a photo of my friend and I in their bar on facebook. When I messaged them asking for the photo to be taken down, as it was not something I really wanted on the internet, I was met with a really strange interaction. They asked why I wanted it taken down, as it was "a great photo" and when I said I didn't really feel like I wanted to answer that question, they were extremely sarcastic and threatened to keep the picture up because it wasn't against the rules of Facebook to have it up. They also used really unprofessional language and typos. The whole thing was really weird. I feel like if someone is coming into your bar, spending money, and having a good time, you should want to maintain a positive relationship instead of pulling teeth over removing one picture. I feel like this place is all around unprofessional and if the person maintaining their interactions with the public is unprofessional, it tints the whole business. Fun spot for a night out! Good drink selection with bars on both levels with seating downstairs and dancing upstairs.

If i could give this zero stars i would. I decided to take my best friend here after him coming home from serving three years in the US Marines. At first they refused to let him in because he had a winter hat on. Mind you it was 20 degrees out when we went there. After he took his hat off they finally let him in, but once we got to the bar they would not serve us. After waiting 15+ minutes we gave up and went somewhere else. This place needs stop acting like some high end bar in hollywood or nyc. You are in Worcester Massachusetts you are not in a high end city. You are in a trashy part of a trashy city. I will never go back there and advise anyone else to avoid this location. I hope to see this place get run out of business. read more

This place is great if you're looking for life entertainment, great atmosphere and a great whiskey selection. This place has 200+ types of whiskey to pick from!!! I've been there couple of times. During earlier hours you can notice a lot of older crowd that is looking to relax and have a nice glass of expensive whiskey. As the night goes on, the place is staring to fill up with younger, much more energetic crowd. The main bar area is downstairs, and the nightclub portion, that opens up a little bit later during the night, is located upstairs. This place does not have an extensive food menu, which is very limited and tends to change very often; however the food is delicious if you order it. Everything comes from a food truck rented by the owners of Whiskey on Water. They have different food trucks come in on different nights of the week which allows them to be very creative with their food and offer something different every night. read more

What a rude experience. I walked out. I was so looking forward to having a couple of shots of aged single-malt Scotch and then joining friends. After being greeted well and given a menu, I chose a $20 Oban for #1 and was ready. I waited at least 15 minutes. 3 follow-on young bartenders didn't even look at me after I had closed the menu and looked for their attention. Each time passing by in front of me, they asked the young person next to me who came in 10 min after I did, if she was all set. I step up and ask if I can be served. I said #50-something was the choice. It couldn't have been easier. Bartender goes and grabs a bottle, says "I don't think this is it..". Well-annoyed, I said I'd like to see the bottle when she returns. When she comes back with it, she hands it to me, presumably so I may inspect it. So I anticipate doing just that, as you would with a wine choice at any restaurant, and I go to take it for a moment, intending to give it right back so she can pour it. She doesn't let go and is pulling it back against me! Insane! Who does that?! I felt I was profiled by this snot as some undesirable !!?? Was I going to walk off with the bottle- was that it? I'm still not entirely certain what to think of this place. It's like it's just trying to do too much all at once. Whiskey bar + dance club + live music all happening at the same time = a bit of an identity crisis. I think if they just focused on one of those three things, they could do that item well. On the other hand - in a city sorely lacking in dance clubs, it seems to be the place to go if that's your thing. It's extremely accessible if you Uber/cab it, but the hustle and bustle of Water Street/the intersection locale would make it complicated to find parking I would imagine. The acoustics in the lower level were good for live music, though the sound guy really mic'd up the drums and the rest of the band was drowned out. We went around 9, there wasn't much of a line at that point/the bar was very accessible, but around 10:30 the place exploded and the lines the other Yelpers referenced in their reviews became apparent. Though this place isn't exactly my scene as far as night life, I might try around happy hour to see how a muted atmosphere impacts the experience. On the weekends, the downstairs frequently features live music and the upstairs has a DJ. Each floor has a bar and the upstairs is more for dancing. Despite the fact that this is the best bar in Worcester to go to on a Friday or Saturday night right now, my problem with this place is that they make you wait in line to get upstairs. My friend was stuck waiting downstairs for close to an hour because there was a line to go upstairs even thought many people had left and the dance floor was not nearly filled to capacity. Also, the bouncers are rude and can make you feel uncomfortable. It is a decent bar, but they are severely risking turning people off to this place, and when a new and better bar comes along people won't think twice to go there instead. Attractive bar tenders, decent music, good crowd, rude bouncers, line to get upstairs, alright drinks. If you are looking to have a great night in Worcester, I definitely recommend this place. Just try to get here before 11 or you risk waiting in lines. read more

My boyfriend and I stopped in because they were having a Teacher Appreciation event to kick off the start of summer. Live band, free appetizers, and drink specials. We arrived around 3:00. The appetizers from Zorbas were a little limited but yummy. It was HOT inside - it felt like the air conditioning came on around 5. There was some confusion on the part of the staff about pricing for some of the bourbons that weren't listed on their menu, but I loved their selection since getting my hands on one of those bottles in real life would be nearly impossible. The staff was busy but always very friendly. Once the live music started, the band was great. Overall, my boyfriend and I had an awesome time, and I appreciated the teacher event since I probably wouldn't have come in otherwise - I generally stay away from Water street since parking is a nightmare. However, we took an uber, and it was well worth it. We're not usually loud bar types , but this was a blast. We'll definitely come by again. read more
