It is one of the best playgrounds we have been at. My both kids had some fun there. Lots of slides, swings, places to climb and jump etc. Train, boat, castle name it. I asked my oldest one what did he like the most about this park and he said there were lots of people and size, it was a big one. I noticed it was pretty well maintained and neat. It is located just next to Train museum and 3 min away from children's museum. The only thing, what made us driving around is gps, when I picked Whistle playground it took me to the wrong destination, on another side of street, when I changed it to whistle park, it brought me to the correct location. read more

This park is very cool, but there is a very obvious public safety issue that the city should really address. The homeless living in and around the park restrooms and partaking in drug use in and around the park makes this an unsafe area for kids. I'd recommend keeping an extra close eye on your children, your surroundings, belongings, and also check the bathrooms before you allow kids in them. The park is amazing and it's evident that it's a true labor of love to have built it and maintain it. I do hope this issue is addressed as several men came out of the bathrooms with sheets and backpacks and the aroma of marijuana all through the park was overwhelming. read more

This park is super fun. We took our son who is almost 2 after visiting the childrens museum. The park is pretty enclosed which is nice so kids aren't as prone to bolt off if you have a runner. Being that it is right behind the train station makes the ambiance pretty awesome. Cargo and amtrak trains pass by and my son loved that. They do have a variety of swings for babies up to bigger kids and a tire swing. there are various slides and mazes and also a tot area for the smaller kiddos. read more

Nice place to walk along the railyard. There are placards for family or school activity together every couple minutes along the way. Younger and jungle gym children have a LOT of options quite closely together. A good specialty space for the littler tykes with their attendant is great The restrooms were in operation Memorial Day afternoon, good for public facility. Stopped just on the way through town on the highway, for a short walk because of the good yelp and city reviews. It was a good break from the highway for a few minutes. read more

We really love this park, we have been here multiple times and always have fun here. It is a fairly nice sized area, we haven't used the bathrooms because they don't look so great, but the play area is really cool and most of it is naturally shaded by trees. One disadvantage from this could be birds. Sometimes if you go there, there are a significant amount of bird droppings. It has been hot out here and the most recent time we went they actually had small areas where you could push a button and run through and mist shoots out. I think this is exceptional for a public park! I also absolutely love the theme of this park, the trains pass by and my children really love to watch them. You can get pretty close and it provides for a great experience for the kids. I just want to encourage people to get out and support these parks. Go to them and have fun, take care of them, and appreciate them. We didn't have stuff like this where I was from growing up and it is really nice to have. The park is not perfect but I give it five stars for the theme the build the area the shade the mists etc. read more

We stopped at Whistle Stop Park traveling between Dallas and Austin with our newborn and 4 year old. There is a ton of shade which is great in Texas. They also have misters in the play structure. It is mostly wood with a lot of "houses" and walkways. There are areas for toddlers and also older kids. They have swing seats for children with mobility issues and plenty of seating. The only con was the bathroom wasn't unlocked. This could have been because we were there on a Sunday. read more

This is a fantastic train themed park. Clean and nice although the slides tend to shock you each time your kid comes down and beware the skin burning slides on a hot Texas day. read more

Best park in Temple, hands down. The sheer amount of equipment for kid's to use is astounding and I have never seen a line for anything. My daughter continually asks me "when are we going to the train park' because it has more play equipment and use than any other park in the area. If it had a splash pad, we'd probably never use West Temple park again. read more

We LOVED this place!! The park is well maintained and shaded almost everywhere. The equipment is fun and varied and large enough to accommodate dozens of children. There are "mist"ers in a few areas to help keep you cool. The railroad tracks run next to the park and are fun to see. The vintage train cars were a great attraction. We were able to enter the gate and play on the steam engine for a long time. The train station has a fantastic gift shop and upstairs museum. The exhibits are well done and very interesting! There is a functioning model train scene. They also have a children's playroom full of all kinds of train toys. We went with our 2-year-old and 8-month-old and could have stayed all day. All those things share the same parking lot. read more

My husband is a train enthusiast, and so we have spent lots of time here, with our grandson as well. Our grandson absolutely loved the train themed playscape. He met another little boy and they had a blast running around in the park (in, around and under things). Great hiding places . The pavillion is also very nice. We spent some time there watching trains coming and going. Very nice park! read more
