For my 1700th review I dedicated to this experience of a life time! YOLO! Great experience for our first time heli-skiing! My friend and I wanted to take advantage of the amazing currency exchange rates this season, and comparing to the heli skiing operators in Colorado which was our other option, the prices here are cheaper with the exchange rate. I called this place several times to get information since it was our first time. Everytime I called the ladies that answered the phone were very nice and helpful. They talked us through what to expect, and was very upfront about the possibility of cancellation due to weather issues. In those events, they would provide a full refund. We did our trip at the end of the season towards the middle of April, so spring conditions. Their office is right in the middle of the Whistler village, super convenient since our hotel was literally a 2 min walk. We checked in the morning off at their office, got to meet the other 2 groups and our guides. Then we boarded a bus which took us to the heli-pad where the helicopters are. Because it was late season, there were fewer people are those trips, there was only 3 of us in our group, and 4 in the other groups. We took the smaller helicopter to shuttle all 3 groups, actually surprisingly efficient. Our guide gave us a 30min briefing on basic avalanche training, strapped us into our location transceivers, and made sure we know how to use the items in our bags. We also got trained on how to get in and out of the helicopter safely without getting our head cut off. lol. The heli-pad room also contained powder skis and snowboards in case you didn't bring our own. I had my powder board, so I was all good. My friend did rent their powder skis and she said she was very happy with the quality and performance of those. We also had a photographer/videographer with us to take pictures and videos throughout our day and during each run. He did a great job, and we ended up purchasing the video and quite a few of the photos. We opted for the 4 run package for our skill level, I felt like we could probably do more but due to the spring conditions, some of the runs were a bit more challenging due to the hardening of the snow. In fact, the snow conditions changed drastically throughout the day and each run was very different. Our guide was very nice, and helpful. We were taken to the mountain range right north of Whistler/blackcomb ski resort. I personally would opt for something much further since I've rode Whistler a gazillion times. The scenery is still very beautiful I would just like something completely different, meaning a complete different mountain range all together. We did 3 runs, then took a break for lunch. I have to say I was very impressed with the lunch provided. We got HOT soup, really HOT! Needed that on a cold day. Also, our sandwiches were catered by Bigfoot Bistro, one of my favorite restaurants in Whistler. I honestly was expecting some shitty sandwich made with yucky white bread and some spam, but was pleasantly surprised with some very tasty sandwiches. We also got juice boxes and hot honey tea. The only interesting experience was of course no public bathroom in the mountain, so we had to make "yellow snow", super hilarious. I popped a squat behind the helicopter and became "one" with nature. lol. After our runs, we were taken back to the helipad, and then back to Whistler village. Our driver was nice and dropped us off at our hotel so we could change out of our gear, and then we met up with the rest of the group at the lounge inside the Bearfoot Bistro, nice large room with a huge TV and a bar with couches. We got to sit there and watch the videos of us being silly and riding hard. Ordered food since Bearfoot had a great happy hour menu and chilled out on the couch. It was really fun to hangout with our guides and videographer afterwards. I do agree with some of the other reviews that this is definitely catered to tourists, but sometimes for your first time, you need a bit more guidance and assistance with the runs, and to take it a bit slower. I think the next time we know what to expect and will probably do the package with more runs. Overall a very fun time and definitely experience of a lifetime!

If you're thinking about it, du it. If you ever thought about it in the past, du it. And if you think you might think about it, possibly, in the future - get'er done. The crew is great. We started off the day with basic avalanche training, everyone gets a beacon and they basically make sure you know the do's and dont's in case something happens. Next up we spent ten minutes talking about helicopter safety rules; since we mostly did hot-pickups I advise one pay particular good attention to those. Within 2 hours of meeting up, we were on top of our first glacier. Nothing but sky, infinite snow, sun, and absolutely NO tracks of any skiers and riders ... anywhere. One of the best experiences of my life. Period.

Unbelievable experience. Erik and Mo were the best. Once in a lifetime opportunity, wouldn't have missed it for the world.

Needed this dayscape - via the magnificent Sea-to-Sky Highway to the majestic mountain enclave - Whistler - in beautiful British Columbia! Folks be prepared - you will be tempted to stop several times on the drive up. Spectacular views during the daylight hours will leave you breathless!!! This review is done under - Whistler - but encompasses the drive up, the beautiful scenery, the mountains & forest that are all part of an amazing nature built province ('State' - for all those in Merica) of BC. And no, BC does not belong to Britain but to Canada. Don't laugh I've been asked this question before! I won't get into the whole Commonwealth technicality but yes if one is leaning towards that angle I guess you could say - the Queen does own the whole of Canada as we pay mega bucks as in millions each year to the UK - to be part of the British Empire! Oh how lucky we are!? So Harry & Megan got tired of this British royalty life & escaped to a quieter environment in ... Hollywood!?? Ok then!!! The big draw to Whistler is in the winter - skiing & snowboarding. The Blackcomb & Whistler mountains are world wide renowned & super popular! Hiking & mountain biking takeover in the summer. Whistler is mighty expensive so bring all 5 of your credit cards! There are a few good restaurants as well but please make reservations ahead of time or you'll be left hopping around to find whatever's available. Of note & in no particular order but worth trying, Oso Bar (Spanish) - make reservations this spot is fire (thank you manager for the complimentary dessert), Lucia Gelato (try the Ginger flavour), Fat Tony's Pizza (open till 3am so could be a real life saver), El Funiture Warehouse aka All Food @ $5.95 Everyday - that's like $3 bucks US right!?! Everyone eats here, superstars, the rich, the average Joe - there's no class rules when your starving & don't want to blow a lot of money - you will save money eating here!!! Avalanche Pizza, Splitz Grill (can be pricey but it's the burger you design so blame yourself for the hunger causing your mind to go crazy with so many toppings) & finally tacos at La Cantina. There's a few more spots including fine dining but that will be for an update after covid-19 ends. I'm real hesitant to go inside & prefer to stick to patio dining for now, as much as I can. The Whistler Village area is real easy to walk around in & you'll only need to drive if you have to go further up the mountain. I have been coming to Whistler since the early 90s & have stayed in many hotels & condo rentals. Definitely shop around & prebook your stay before coming up here. However, today's trip was just a day trip escape from the big city & was thoroughly enjoyed. The drive from Vancouver takes 90 minutes or less depending on how fast you drive - longer if you stop along the way & or make a pit stop in Squamish, a beautiful town & worth the stop - see my Squamish review. Whoa got the shock of my life while walking about! Five years ago on a cruise in the Caribbean, our group met the super charismatic, charming, & so awesome Cruise Director (entertainment) Matt! Check him out on Instagram @ mattcruisedirector. Merica many of you might be very familer with him from the Carnival Cruise Line!!! Couldn't believe he's now living here - currently on the Sunshine Coast of BC but will be relocating to Vancouver. It was a pleasure to run into him & his wife! I had vivid fond cruise flashback memories while chatting with him. That awesome cruise back in 2015 on Carnival Breeze was phenomenal!!!!! It was a total awesome riot! I discovered my island paradise - Curaçao! Side note - Vancouver & Whistler hosted the 2010 Winter Olympics! I can tell you from first hand experience with actually being involved in the Olympics as a volunteer - it was so spectacular an event!!!!! Vancouverites today still speak highly of it! Super natural Whistler is highly recommended if you've never been - so do check it out! Come experience Whistler & be wowed!!! You will exhale & feel that - we got this ... life is good after all!!!!!

However once you come down the mountain, your journey comes to an end. We also explore the villages and it was pretty quaint and fun to check out all the little shops and restaurants. We definitely want to come again during the winter months and maybe get a few runs in on the mountain as well. When we saw the people skiing and snowboarding, we were a little jealous and wanted to do a few runs as well, but alas we didn't bring our gear. Next year for sure! We'll be back!

Sitting in a gondola is very…read moreluxurious because it's enclosed, your snowboard is unstrapped and sitting outside on the gondola so you can sit in comfort and unwind for a bit without fear of loosing your gloves. There were nice runs off both the Whistler side and the Blackcomb side but as a snowboarder I think I liked the Blackcomb side better. There were less flat cat track spots and connector areas. Although once I figured out where to go, the runs on the Whistler side were amazing. I felt the Whistler side was consistently more crowded and had better snow than the Blackcomb side. I hear the Blackcomb was designed on a computer model as it's the newer side vs the Whistler side was not. Whistler has a large village that has many restaurants, grocery stores, board-shops and winter clothing stores. All the rentals in the area are some how connected to the Whistler village and you'll have to either walk thru there to get to the lifts and gondolas or have a ski in/ ski out situation. There is also a free bus system that connects all the surrounding rental areas and Whistler village. There are also a few different (paid) bus services to and from Vancouver airport to Whistler so you don't have to rent a car. Whistler is a cool place with a huge skiable area. It's located at a lower elevation so the 2 times I've been there, there was no new snow. It had a good base and had good groomed runs. This past time there was a fog layer in the middle of the mountain every day. So the top of the lower runs had limited visibility. If you went to the top of the mountain you'd be above the cloud line. My biggest complaint was that you couldn't always see the contours of the ground, when the run turned a certain way or was obscured from the sun behind a hill or trees. So on a long run you'd have good visibility in some areas then there'd be areas where there'd be bad visibility. Combine that with the mid mountain clouds / fog certain parts became a little sketchy. But once you got the run down you just trust that it's smooth and go, just takes a little leap of faith. Overall I enjoyed myself. I liked the ski in / ski out place that we rented (painted cliff), the ease of getting to and from the airport, and the ease of getting around via the free bus service. It would be amazing with some fresh pow! Going to Whistler? I won't be skiing at any resorts that are run by Vail management company…read more I have been skiing for 50 years throughout North America. I have never seen such poor service and ridiculous lift ticket prices. We ordered 3. --1 day lift tickets . The lift tickets were ordered 2 weeks prior to our skiing day. When we arrived, we found that we had mistakenly ordered 3 -1 day tickets that only one person could use and were not transferable. No problem, I thought we could simply return the 2 of the tickets and pay the difference, which would have been another $ 320 in the pocket of the Vail whistler mountain. However, after talking to the initial helpline, and then the manager we were informed that we would have had to ask for the money back within twenty four hours and sorry we couldn't help you. We simply did not have enough money to do this. So we canceled our day of ski and accepted that the 3 -1 day tickets were a loss. Fortunately, the ski rental facility, which operates on the mountain, thought that this was awful and refunded me the cost.of the rental. I cannot believe how expensive skiing is at Whistler is now. It's nice, but I'm sorry it's not that nice. The way Vail management treats customers is horrible. Vale would have actually made an additional $320 if they had agreed to refund the cost of two tickets which were purchased at a discount. We would have bought full price tickets. I will never ski at Whistler, or any ski facility that is run by Vail. They have priced themselves out of the average person budget. I encourage everyone to patronize other resorts for half the price. After all it's just a mountain with snow on it. So what did I learn? I learned that Vail management doesn't appear to value its customers and has priced itself out of the average person's budget for skiing.

We found this park because it was on Whistler's tourism page. Our bus dropped us off at Whistler Village and then we took a cab up to Bubly Tube Park. With a little more research, we would have known to take the Excalibur Gondola from the Village for free. At the time we went, tickets were only available to purchase when we got there. They have a one or two hour option. Coming in, we had planned on the two hour ticket but ended up with the one hour ticket as it was not crowded at all. For me, this was perfect as it can be a tiring activity. You of course get more bang for your buck with the two hour option. After paying, they do ask you to attach your pass to your jacket or pants. They have a couple of tables and chairs to relax and watch or place your things. There was no lockers that we could see, but that would come in handy. They have an actual gondola on the grounds that's great for photo ops or also to place your things inside. We felt safe keeping our bags there as there are staff members close by. The staff here was super friendly and helpful. Now to the fun stuff. Grab a tube and make your way up the hill. There's an initial walk to the conveyer belts that take you up. At first glance is looks easy but a little effort was needed to get to the lift. Once on there, it's smooth sailing. When you get to the top, you have a few options. There are 2 sets of lanes, 4 lanes in total. It was told to us that one set gets your down faster than the other, but I felt like I went faster on the "slower" one. That being said, both were super fun. We doubled up on almost all the runs, some people went solo. There might be some videos of me giggling like a little girl going down. With the altitude and inclines, I only had two runs in me, but my more fit homies got in 3-4 runs in that timeframe. Overall, we had an absolute blast here. If you have just a day to enjoy Whistler but still want some snow activities, this is it. It's not a time consuming event or as expensive as skiing. I'll definitely come back if in the area again.

Sadly they don't have wifi, so I had to borrow my friends phone to do this part, since I was on airplane mode. Once we completed that. We went over the mini bridge and paid at the window. It was about $25 US/1 hour, card only, no cash. You pay, and then put on a ski badge so it's visible. Then pick up your tube, and drag it up the hill (it's a work out for real), and then they tell you how to take the auto crosswalk (like at the airport) up to the top. It was cool to the skiers/snowboarders right next to us the hill. It's a trek to get to the top of that hill with the 4 seperate lanes (2 regular/2 a little higher up). But a lot of fun sliding down it. I did about 3 runs total, all of them in a duo. Our group was adults. But there was also families, and kids enjoying. Fun for all ages for sure.

Most of the people take buffet and if you want to take a la carte you will wait even longer for the food. However, egg Benedict was excellent and cappuccino and latte is speciality coffee and cost extra but it's worth it. We reserved the Wildflower for anniversary dinner. The ambience doesn't feel like in an upscale restaurant, maybe because we used to this as a breakfast place... Food was good my husband took lamb loin, I took elk tar tar that was divine, clam chowder was good as well. But we didn't felt romantic atmosphere, the place was very casual and we felt like we were overdressed. Service was better than service at breakfast. Room was very spacious, we got higher floor with a village view. Hotel was fully booked because it was last day for sky gondola for blackcomb mountain. Pool and spa felt overpacked! There were sooo many kids and few hot tubs were out of service. Overall we enjoyed our stay, however we felt it was bit overpriced. We loved the hotel, the location but service was lacking maybe because of the high demand.
