Don't waste your time and money tl;dr - go somewhere else. We did the family tour. It sucked. There is a lot wrong here: 1 - The whole tour is "follow the leader" at an excruciatingly slow pace. There's no fast part of the trail, nor any area where you're allowed to really experience any adrenaline at all. I can't emphasize this point enough - this is an extremely calm, slow, uninteresting tour. Your heart rate will not go up. 2 - The trail is poorly maintained and you'll be bobbing up and down an obnoxious amount. 3 - The machines are old and poorly maintained. My windshield fell off (by itself) twice on the ride. 4 - The process to geared up and get going takes so long (because there isn't enough staff) that your 2 hr tour will be 90 mins max. 5 - The whole operation is disorganized and you'll spend a lot of time waiting around for them to figure out who/what/where. As for the positives: 1 - The tour guide was nice and she tried her best. 2 - Nice that they provide transport to/from Whistler village. I've had much better experiences on other tours. Go somewhere else and have actual fun. read more

Dog sledding: fantastic. From shuttle pickup to the end we learned so much. We had Frazier and 8 great dogs. It's a fun ride. My teenager was invited back to help mush. Looks like they allowed kids to do this as well on other sleds. Felt very safe and guides very attentive to all the dogs needs. Frazier said as much but you could also tell how well cared for and loved these dogs are. We got a break up at a view and just got to spend a lot of time loving on the dogs. It's nice not only having a fun ride but also knowing you're supporting a good home for these dogs and a good company. read more

I decided to try out snowmobiling for the first time. I opted for the 2 hour adventurous beginning tour. I'm fairly adventurous but was quite nervous going into this. I'm quite little (100lbs) and was told the snowmobiles weigh 500+lbs so I thought I might have a hard time navigating through the snow as I did this myself. The staff were fantastic in reassuring I'd do great and that the group I went with would start slow and pick up speed as we feel comfortable. Bella was my tour guide. Our group had 6 snowmobiles (some had double riders) but I was placed directly behind Bella as I was by myself and in case I needed any help. After the first few minutes of riding I found myself maxing out my top speed (30km/h) as we started going uphill. We stopped a few times along the way and were able to take some photos. I also asked if it's possible to increase my max speed and she said yes! I ended up going about 40km/h as my top speed. It took a lot out of my body (ended up burning 400+ cals over 2 hours) but would highly recommend this tour for an adventurous beginner no matter your size! Bella was an amazing tour guide (so personable and friendly) and the entire experience was fantastic! I can't wait to come back and try the 3 hour tour or even a private tour! read more

We visited Whistler for my sisters birthday this past weekend (MLK weekend) and enjoyed all that they have to offer. Our snow activity of choice is snowmobiling so we make sure to add that to the itinerary every season. Blackcomb Snowmobiling picked us up from our hotel and drove us out to their cabin to get our day started. We had an 8am private tour with Ryan! What a beautiful ride to be the first ones on the trail with fresh tracks and snow. Our ride took us all through the Callaghan Mountian down to a beautiful meadow that looked up to surrounding mountian views. We made our way to a beautiful mountian side cabin were they offered us hot apple cider and hot dogs. In Texas we would say they were sausage links for comparison. Great little break before we headed back around the mountains. Ryan was the best guide for us. He kept us safe and continued to check on us as we rode. We had a 2.5 hour tour on snowmobiles that included a BBQ lunch. I was impressed that they not only were able to shuttle us to the site, but they also had all the waterproof gear we needed including boots, pants, coats, gloves, helmets and goggles. Talk about easy for us! The tour was really fun but I found the lunch to be super lackluster. It totally worked as far as fuel and a warm-up but it was really just hot dogs and cookies. So if you dont eat meat, don't expect much. Our tour guide was awesome. We went on a pretty steep hill and had an accident on the snowmobiles, but luckily no one was hurt. Quite honestly a huge waste of time and money. The private snowmobile tour we were on stayed on roads (as opposed to trails) and went a maximum of 20 KPH. The tour guide wasted time coming down the mountain by going extremely slow (15 KPH). A 3 hour private tour is 2 hrs 20 mins. Machinery was put in eco mode with no acceleration. We were told that since the conditions were so bad at the bowl, we would be taken to another scenic lookout and then she neglected to do so. We've snowmobiled in multiple places in Colorado (Winter Park, Aspen, SnowMass) and other places and this was the worst. Food was burned hotdogs and cookies. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. read more

Great time on the 2-hour family tour! Our 3:30pm tour turned pretty dark quickly during a snowstorm; so, even though the beautiful scenery was not as easy to see, it had its own charm at night, lit up by our parade of snowmobile lights. There were two guides for our group - both friendly, energetic and seemed to be having as much fun as we were! Several of us had our littles riding tandem and they were ecstatic to get to drive their own mini snowmobile halfway through our guided tour. My only regret was not booking this earlier in our vacation so that we could go back again! Do not miss this!! In addition to our guide Dan, also worth mentioning is the professional yet fun bus drivers who picked us up promptly from our hotel and got us to and from the venue safely during a snowstorm. One quick tip: when you book your excursion (and you should...immediately!), try to get towards the front of the line when riding. Being second from the back of the line on our ride, you do end up eating all of the exhaust from the snow mobiles in front of you. My husband and me were doing this for the first time and booked two separate mobiles. We did the scenic trip for 2 hours the riding time was around 90 min. We had two guides Chris and Goutam both were very helpful, patient and friendly. We would highly recommend them both. The trip had a mix of different types of terrain hills and plain. My wife and I recently took a tour with Blackcomb Snowmobiles while we were visiting Whistler, Canada. We decided to do the 4:30 pm tour, and it was AWESOME. We did the "double" meaning she was on the back of the snowmobile. Once everyone in our tour group got the hang of it, the tour guides allowed us to open them up to get more power. The tour was surely one that I'll remember for the rest of my life. Going at 4:30 pm was a highlight as you get to see some of the old growth forest in the day, but then you get to see it at night. Besides that, in Whistler it really snows at night time. Nothing like riding a snowmobile at night time. Some of the highlights of the tour were: * Snowmobiling on the frozen lake (yes you can be like John Mclain in Die Hard II). * Log Cabin with Hot Cider and warm cookies to warm you up. * Tour Guide Killian gave me a $10 off card to return at another time. * Tour Guide Killian gave us some great restaurants to go check out while we were in Whistler. Extremely disappointing. We also had a Groupon for Blackcomb Snowmobiles. We were totally stoked for it! But they didn't deliver what was promised. The ride wasn't very long and we didn't get enough time to enjoy what we were doing. It was the ride up, 10 mins at the top, and a ride down. That's it. We were supposed to get a snack half way through - that didn't happen either. I do have to say though, the staff there were VERY friendly, helpful and patient. The staff were pretty much the only thing that saved the trip. I purchased 2 Groupons earlier in the year and finally got a chance to redeem them. Unfortunately, we weren't able to get an earlier booking, and had to go on a 4:30pm tour, it was already quite dark - next time I'd like to try the day tour. We were picked up and driven to site at the Hilton, the driver was about 15 minutes late (the girl at the desk told us we'd be picked up at 4:15, but the guy didn't get there till 4:30). As someone mentioned previous, even though it says it's a 2-hour tour, that includes the transportation time, so it's more like 1.5 hours. Upon arrival, the staff were very attentive. They were quick to help us gear up & were super friendly. It was nice that they had extra gear in case someone was ill-equipped. Our tour guide Chris was great. We were the only ones on the tour, so the pace was fine. Although I could see others being annoyed with going slow if you are stuck with someone who isn't as comfortable on the snowmobile. It was raining and dark, so it wasn't the best conditions (not their fault). But still fun. Chris made sure we were safe, and dug us out when we got stuck (which happened a few times). And he took us to an area that was untouched snow - which was pretty cool. read more

We booked the 2-hour snowmobile Wilderness Adventure Tour for the three of us. We couldn't have picked a nicer day- clear, crisp, sunny -9C. It would have been so much better if the experience delivered had come close to the company hype. The 2-hour "wilderness adventure" turned out to be less than 30 minutes of riding! The rest of the time was spent getting everyone in gear and orientated with the machine and driving issues. We started off moving very slow (10-15 km/hr) and stopping every few hundred yards to make sure everyone catches up. The tour moves at the speed of the slowest rider! After doing this slow pace for a while, a few riders expressed their disappointment which resulted in splitting the group in two. The ride started to get more exciting and we start to hit speeds of 50-60 km/hr and going up higher elevations. Unfortunately, this part lasted less than 10 minutes before we found ourselves in parking lot again! It was definitely not worth the $149. read more

The day started with meeting at the Hilton to grab the shuttle to the sledding location. A quick ride brought our group to a lot of barking dogs waiting to go running. We started inside petting the puppies. We could pick them up and hold them. Seriously too cute! Then we got a quick tutorial. We got to feel like part of the sled team by watching and holding the dogs as they got hooked in. It's a pretty fun ride. Great to see how the dogs behave. The names they give the dogs are great. There was no snow fall so the company trucked in snow every day to facilitate the dog runs. My now fiancée worked out with the company earlier to assist with a proposal, and the team did such a great job. Many folks were in on it and it was really sweet. Such a nice location on a cliff, alone, and tons of photos from our dog guide! The owners well behaved dog runs freely and will come hand you a stick to play fetch with. It's a pretty awesome location with super nice staff. I docked a star because it is rather expensive for the short excursion. $ 396 CAN for two people seems a bit excessive. read more

We came here for our first time snowmobiling and will definitely be coming back. We opted for the Wilderness Tour with two people on a snowmobile. My partner and I were able to switch drivers partway through the tour as we purchased two collision coverage packages. Our guides Dylan Fildes, and Chloe were amazing. They kept us informed during our tour, gave us a through breakdown of how to operate our snowmobile, gave us tips on riding, and kept us safe. We were fortunate enough to have moderate snowfall during our tour which made the experience very immersive. Highly recommend planning your tour when there is at least some snowfall the day before your tour. Absolutely recommend this place for a snowmobile tour. read more

Blackcomb Snowmobiles are *the* guys to go with for a great snowmobile outing. They offer several different tour options from beginner to fairly advanced routes, and they'll customize to suit your group. There were 5 of us today when we went out and we all had been on snow machines at least once. We chose the 3-hour Wilderness Adventure tour, which was challenging enough to keep us very entertained. We started at their cabin headquarters and made our way progressively up the mountain to a peak at about the same elevation as the peak of Whistler. The views were outstanding, as were the trails in the Brandywine trail system. Our guides name was Luke (coincidentally the same as Skylar's review) and he was great - very safe, yet also a lot of fun. We were fast on the trails and he turned us a loose a couple of different times on bowls and a couple of frozen lakes. As a point of comparison, we booked a similar tour with Outdoor Adventures in the Whistler village last year and we all felt like our tour with Blackcomb Snowmobiles was better. The trail system that Blackcomb uses is nicer, and the views were certainly much much better. We went equally fast on both tours, so you'll be safe either way if that's your main concern. The 3 hour tour price with Blackcomb was the same or less than the various competing companies. read more

Went on a tandem snowmobile at 4:30 which is pretty much nighttime in winter and it was a lot of fun! Just have to remember to lean into that first big turn and not hit any potholes which tossed me and my son off the snowmobile, we were fine just a bruised ego :-) !! Got back on and caught up! I think I prefer the single snowmobiles though, as I'm a petitie 5'3" so the tandem was a little big and heavy for me to maneuvere properly. read more

Making the reservations was fast and easy. It was the four of us and we got two sleds. Our guides were Dominque and Alex. Both were great! They talked to us before our ride about each dog that was going to pull us. We got to interact with all dogs and they couldn't have been nicer! So sweet! We soon got into our sleds and off we went! The guides were very friendly and during our stops asked if we wanted a family picture taken. Any questions they had they answered. After the run we were able to give them treats for a job well done. Actually time on the trail is just under an hour that includes about a 10-15 break at a lookout point. Dogs were not as big nor as fast as I expected. I signed up for a 2 hour "wilderness adventure tour". We started our engines at 1:15 and got back at 2:50. 20 of those minutes were spent waiting while the guide left us to go dig out somebody's stuck snowmobile. I understand that those things happen, but they definitely shouldn't cut the tour short afterwards. The 1:15 that we did spent snowmobiling was okay. We spent a lot of time going on spur routes to nowhere (disappointing considering that we could have escaped the rain by heading higher to their alpine bowl). Near the end we were given free reign on a frozen lake, which was quite fun. As others have noted, the hot drink and a snack is a lie (although, I didn't mind) read more

We had a Groupon for Blackcomb Snowmobiles. We were SO excited to be going snowmobiling as a four-person group (all in our late twenties/early thirties), and psyched for a huge adrenaline rush. What we got was exactly the opposite and VERY disappointing. The night before our tour (which we scheduled a month in advance) we were notified that our time had changed. Luckily we were able to re-arrange our schedule for the day and make it work. When we arrived no acknoledgement was made for accomodating their change in schedule. We we on two tandem snowmobiles with three other machines. Unfortunately one person we were put on the tour with was extremely tentative/slow so we were forced to go no faster than 20/25km/hr for the entire time on the trails. No attempt by the guide was made to contol the situation, even when we asked if we could go faster. The ride was boring (although the scenery, of course, was amazing). We were expecting a snack during the tour but never got it. It was not mentioned at all or offered. We had seen on the Groupon terms and conditions that an $18/person insurance fee was due upon arrival. However, upon reading the brochure we saw it was supposed to be per vehicle. After questioning the reason for this charge we were told "you got such a good deal with the groupon we are charging $18 per person". So, basically, we were gouged simply because this company chose to offer a Groupon. When I questioned this the woman at the desk whipped out a binder to show me the fine print. Also in the fine print was that we were supposed to receive a snack and hot drink. When I questioned THAT she had no good explanation as to why it wasn't offered. Lastly, it is worth noting that while this tour is advertised as a two hour adventure, the drive to and from the village, the time to get ready, and the snowmobile demonstration are all included in the two hours. The time on the trails is closer to an hour and a half. Do NOT book with this company. They are unfriendly, unprofessional, and it's not worth the risk that you'll be stuck with a slow person in your group and have to dawdle the entire ride. Go elsewhere. One of the best nights of my Whistler life was when all the employees at my job went snowmobiling. The people at Blackcomb Snowmobiles worked with us on a group rate that beat out their competitor. It was also pretty close to the place I worked which was a nice perk for us. The staff met at the Chateau Fairmont where we signed the consent forms and then we were all loaded onto a mini-bus. The driver was really funny and made the twenty minute+/- bus ride fly by. When we got to the snowmobile base we were quickly ushered inside, fitted with helmets and were given a brief lowdown on safety and operations. After a iffy start of everyone getting their Skidoo legs, we were off. I was lucky enough (I'm going to say luck as I can't see how anyone could have sucked as much as me) to be put in the 'advanced' group. We went faster than the other group and even got to over a jump. The jump was, dare I say, more fun than a ski jump. I am so glad I did this at night. Apparently the track we were speeding through isn't an interior track. No, we were actually feet from a steep, steep drop. The next week I knew a girl who fell off the side of the mountain and by the grace of God only broke her shoulder and collarbone. Don't be stupid andt this won't happen to you.
