I was very fortunate during the current construction conditions (post covid delays etc) that Bradford was able to fit me in to a three day window the week following their bid as they had an opening that could accommodate our project. Bradford's team showed up when promised and worked their shifts reliably and finished three days later (I added a few things to the scope of the project) and they did a wonderful job. I own a condominium in Park City that I rent out through a Park City management company. I have…read morebeen renting it out "as-is" for 10 years and the wear and tear showed badly. The management company "suggested" that unless certain upgrades were made, they would no longer keep the unit in their rental pool. I felt it was time to go one way (sell it) or the other (upgrade to "Gold Level" status). With such a bad real estate market, I felt I had to chose the later. I contacted Michelle Tychsen of Park City Design Group and we discussed the "report card" my management company gave me. I did not have a ton of money to spend and I was looking for someone who would see a strict budget as much of a design challenge as color and furniture choices. She was very faithful to the budget (we ended up exceeding it by a couple of thousand dollars, but she gave me many choices along the way where I could have avoided it). She shopped tirelessly for deals and sometimes would force a deal - when there did not appear to be one - by strong negotiation. As to design, I feel I have at least a modicum of design sensibility. I subscribe to Dwell Magazine (and their Twitter feed), watch HGTV more than I should and am always drawn to design topics and resources. I know what I like and what I am drawn to. That being said, I was not looking to enforce my design sensibility on my designer. I was looking for someone who knew Park City and could design a space that would exceed the expectations of guests paying to stay there (in the mountains, in the West, etc.). Still, I felt very much a part of this collaborative process. And though I trusted her with a number of choices (not too many leaps of faith), I felt totally invested in them. Communication was exceptional: as I live in Los Angeles, she kept me constantly informed by e-mail. She sent photos of furniture, paint color, art and other choices for me to peruse, and I don't think there was a day in this month long process that she didn't provide me an update. The final product was stunningly beautiful. The before and after photos would take your breath away. A representative of the management company was so impressed with the transformation she referred another owner with a property in Old Town to MIchelle. And finally, the thing I strangely feel the best about is that even though this design project was not a large one by any means, she loved the challenge and was genuinely excited about it.

The Utah Design Center is a beautiful place. We are in the process of a pretty big remodel and was happy to walk through the doors. The receptionist was pleasant, greeted us, and asked how she could help. We told her we were looking for design ideas for tiling our new fireplace. She sent Chanelle to meet us in the tile area. We really enjoyed our time with Utah Design Center. Chanelle showed us some awesome tile and advised we visit DalTile and Esmer for samples. While at the Utah Design Center, we also got excited about lighting because of the various displays about the store. We asked Chanelle about various lighting options. We also asked Chanelle if the Utah Design Center offers general design consultancy. She said yes, they offer by-the-hour consultancy services - very cool! When we got home, we talked about the myriad of options and decided we really do want professional assistance to help establish a cohesive vision across textures, colors, shapes, designs, etc. So, I called the Utah Design Center, spoke with the receptionist, and asked for Chanelle. I left a voice message. A couple days later, I hadn't heard anything, so called again. I spoke with the receptionist, asked for Chanelle, and left a voice message. We never received a return phone call. I don't mind calling a second time when my first call is not returned, but there will not be a third. I have to say, there is no excuse to not return phone calls, let alone two. I mean, isn't this where it all starts? My wife and I were really excited after our visit and, frankly, we were surprised we did not hear back. Thank goodness there are a lot of really good designers in the area. We are working with someone else and are thrilled the direction our project is heading.

We worked with designer Natalie and have had nothing but a great experience. She worked in great detail with us to make sure our vision was created and executed. House of a Jade paid attention to details of things that we would have not otherwise realized since it is a new build. They were able to really visualize what the space would be like once finished and help us to make the most of each room. I had a particular look in mind for each space and they've helped me to make it work in my space. They've helped us to create a truly beautiful home that is very true to our personal style - it's not your average Utah home and I'm so glad we worked with them! Would highly recommend.
